## FitNesse Reviews
  ### 1. FitNesse a tool for Acceptance Test Driven Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** abhinav s. | Principal Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2021

**What do you like best about FitNesse?**

FitNesse is a great tool to implement acceptance test driven development where Buisness Analyst sets the standard expectations about Input Request and Output response from a given capability or service which is exposed to any Consumer. Developer has the responsibility to develop the service with making the FitNesse page Green as per the buisness scenario mentioned. Initially the FitNesse page would be yellow depicting no implementation and then Red depicting issues in implementation and the Green when Developer completes the implementation

**What do you dislike about FitNesse?**

For a Developer sometimes implementation becomes time consuming when the FitNesse pages are long and have lot of complexity in the design

**What problems is FitNesse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am implementing FitNesse with a view of implementing correct the first time which is the prime objective of using FitNesse. Also it helps in long term maintenance of project for migrations of both client and server

  ### 2. Old school but still very good

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Petar V. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2021

**What do you like best about FitNesse?**

Fitnesse has wiki pages that can hold text so you can put requirements there. It is fast and debugging tests is very easy. Managers also can read tests because it is gherkin like. There are not issues with the framework and writing tests is fast.

**What do you dislike about FitNesse?**

In old versions you need to put content.txt and properties.txt so that the test is visible in a suite.

**What problems is FitNesse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CI/CD. We ran tests with bamboo jobs each night to review the results on the next day so we can reject/ approve the product for release. It is also important that managers and PO can read the tests.

  ### 3. FitNesse been wiki based, is actually very easy to use by all the stakeholders.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nishant S. | Software Developer In Test, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2020

**What do you like best about FitNesse?**

Wiki based approach to write down my test scenarios along with input / output / assertions. Its very intuitive and very similar to how one would write manual tests.

**What do you dislike about FitNesse?**

Editing of the wiki, specifically when you want to create a complex table of test data was a bit of pain. That part can be made better. Many times I ended up making some minor mistake in the syntax and found it a bit frustrating

**What problems is FitNesse solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Generally BDD sounds very fascinating and it was quite trending in testing and automation world couple of years back. So, our Managers/clients insisted to evaluate BDD tools. Along with fitnesse we also tried specflow. But, with specflow, the managers were not very much comfortable in writing down tests in gherkin language. So, then we explored FitNesse. Everyone liked it because it had a wiki page to document test cases. Managers and Client were already used to with wiki pages and they also found it quite good. So, we zeroed upon FitNesse.
Main benefit of FitNesse is, you need not be technically sound to write down tests, anyone can write it and view the results.
However, Automation QA's are involved in writing down the actual code for the steps written down by the Manual QA OR Manager.
