## Filestack Reviews
  ### 1. Filestack: Simple, fast, and well-documented API to manage and transform files

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hugo G. | Expert en Ingénierie Informatique, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

What I like most about Filestack is its simplicity and speed in integrating file management into a web application. The API is very well documented, allows you to upload, transform, and store files easily, and offers many advanced features such as resizing, validation, or previewing, all without complexity on the developer's side.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The only somewhat frustrating point is that some interface customization options may be limited by default, and intensive use can make the cost a bit high.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack can sometimes be a bit limited in terms of UI customization or more expensive for heavy use, but these points encourage me to stay organized and optimize my workflows. In the end, it pushes me to better structure my files and fully enjoy all its powerful features without wasting time.

  ### 2. Polished File Picker and Fast, Secure Uploads with Powerful URL Transformations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prankur P. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

The implementation part is also not very tight or losse its just some basic API integration and tweaks and backend and its ready to go.
The File Picker is honestly one of the slickest parts it's super polished and just works beautifully. Users can grab files not only from their computer but straight from Google Drive, Dropbox, Instagram, Facebook, you name it, without us having to build or configure a bunch of extra auth flows. It's almost plug-and-play, which is a huge win for keeping things simple.
Then there's the on-the-fly transformations. Being able to resize, crop, add filters, or optimize images just by tweaking a few parameters in the URL? Game-changer. Our backend team doesn't have to spin up custom processing jobs anymore saves a ton of time and server hassle.
Integration was dead easy too. The SDKs and docs are solid, so hooking it up to our app (especially with Froala) felt quick and painless no fighting weird edge cases right out of the gate.
Speed and reliability stand out big time. Their Content Ingestion Network (CIN) makes uploads noticeably faster and way more stable, even when someone's on spotty mobile data in India or wherever. We've had way fewer "upload failed, try again" complaints since switching.
And security-wise, it's reassuring: automatic virus scanning on every file, signed URLs to prevent tampering, and good controls for user-generated stuff. Gives us peace of mind without extra work

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The pricing can sting a bit as you grow. The jump from the basic "Start" plan to "Grow" feels pretty steep once you start bumping into transformation or bandwidth limits especially if you're a small startup or bootstrapping. Overages add up quick if you're not careful.
Also, the docs are generally great for the main stuff, but when you hit some of the more obscure and tight edge cases (like certain custom workflows or integrations), it could use more real-world code snippets or examples. A few times I had to dig through forums or experiment more than I'd like.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Filestack, we were dealing with flaky uploads all the time progress bars stalling, files failing on slower connections, and the nightmare of building our own image resizing/cropping/optimization pipeline from scratch. That would've taken weeks (maybe months) of dev time, plus ongoing maintenance headaches.
Filestack took all that off our plate. We got a clean drag-and-drop picker that handles everything reliably, plus instant transformations and secure delivery. Our users love the seamless experience no more "why won't this photo upload?" tickets. For us devs, it meant faster feature shipping and less firefighting. Overall, it's made our content/media workflow way smoother and more professional without us owning the heavy lifting.

  ### 3. Amazing one stop solution for all the File Uploading related services.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaivardhan D. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Ease of use. Basically a few lines of code and you are good to go. You can even connect with AWS or Google Cloud and others. Compatibility with js frameworks.

I had some error with React 19 compatibility and some security issue with api key and customer support clarified issues in few hours.

Also need to mention the intelligence feature for the images build in, like OCR, nsfw, copyrights checks. OCR came in handy dealing with payment receipts for HR ops team.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The documentation is sort of incoherent at some points. Would like an updated beginner guide that easily explains the integrations and security.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing all file uploads using a single service helps minimize the inconsistency issues. Image optimization and ocr are used by HR ops teams for receipt reading and monitoring.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing images in any application. For example, I built a travel post card application and Filestack CMS all I used.

  ### 8. One stop center for application file handling and upload

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cochise M. | Social media coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Filestack remove difficulties that I had with slow file upload for my photography application and website. Picture transformation and resize is one of my few favorite features that automatically resize picture size according to visitor screen and I don't have to change it manually on my side. Integrate and setup API connection with several cloud storage that I use, like OneDrive is easy and never had problem with it.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clara M. | Senior Content Manager, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Filestack has many marvelous features and the best part is that the company provides a strong set of tools for managing files and their transforms. It offers convenient handling of different file formats and file sizes, which is suitable and crucial for our software. The fidelity in integrating the tool with other tools such as our content management platform has been perfect. This flexibility of file processing has added much value mainly through freeing up time and improving efficiency in operations.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The only weakness that can be attributed to Filestack is the cost, especially for organizations who need to process massive files. The cost may become an issue for the small or startup team or company soon enough. Furthermore, the software has many functionalities, which, however, can make it quite complex to use, and the documentation is quite limited. These factors have at times contributed to the rise in expenditure, as well as to the time taken in onboarding of the team.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Indeed, Filestack has helped to solution several issues concerning files in our activities as highlighted next. The up part that deals with the actual uploading, transformation and delivery of the files has drastically been made much easier by the automation. This has led to quick processing of work, reduction in blunders that improve the performances of our team. Also, it was a great advantage that this platform is potentially expandable and thus, it can accommodate different quantities of files we are going to upload.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiago G. | Senior content manager, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

What is particularly noteworthy about Filestack is that it does not in any way complicate the handling of files. The integration with both Dropbox and Google Drive is beneficial, improving its functionality. Filestack has superb capabilities in dealing with file uploads and transformations, which is beneficial for development. The API is great and the file picker adapts well to various project structures. Its overall reliability and smooth operation make it one of the best software tools to manage files without much complexities.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The primary drawback of Filestack can be considered to be its price, which may be overly costly when the service is used too frequently. This has placed a lot of pressure on us financially since we now need many items to meet the demand we have. Thirdly, Filestack typically works well with other popular platforms; however, occasional problems with linking to some third parties have been reported, which may hinder operations. With cost and integration, these has sometimes have occasionally been used to complicate the processes of file management.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack deals with the issue of managing files and provides a simple means to upload, transform, and store the files. This has made our work easier as it has a lot of benefits concerning the time and energy consumed in our operations. In general, I noted a significant enhancement of our systems and procedures necessary for the proper organization of files and documents.

  ### 12. Solving content management issues is now super simple

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elonore A. | Senior Content Manager, Transportation/Trucking/Railroad, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

That which appeals to me most about Filestack is its astounding power in the handling of files. We use it extensively in making and managing uploads of files and it has greatly enhanced the experience. It is very easy to use, especially the drag and drop function and there are several features such as image conversion as well as image manipulation, which are very helpful. The features of Filestack API make it possible to manage different functions of our platform efficiently and provide the users with a range of conveniences.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

There is one negative I have to note about Filestack. At times, I have noticed a bit of delay in uploading files during periods of heaviest traffic. It has led to website posts being created and distributed at a slower rate and some frustration among the team. Also there is a drawback which is the cost factor as it can be expensive for the small business to indulge in some of the functionality. Due to the following disadvantages, people have not been able to harness all this software in as much as comes with higher cost.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack tackles the issue of ineffective file uploads and organization. It easily integrates with our CMS, and the way we can handle files has been significantly enhanced as a result. The features used in image transformation and file converters have greatly helped in eliminating the use of multiple tools hence cutting on costs of time. In general, integrating Filestack increases our efficiency and provides a more positive experience for our clients and our team.

**Official Response from Carl Cruz:**

  ### 13. These robuts features allowed us to improve workflow

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elisa Z. | Digital marketing specialist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

One of the features that makes Filestack stand out is how fast and streamlined it is to upload files and transform them. The fast and accurate creation of large files has proven to be very helpful to our activities. The great number of tools for image editing provides an opportunity to tweak even the choice of images conveniently. This explains why there is detailed API documentation which helps in implementation and integration of more applications in a seamless manner. Their support team is also very engaging and courteous each time we have questions or problems.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The only thing I do not like with Filestack is that it is expensive if you are new business or startup. We have also experienced some system downtimes which have interfered with our operations. The first installation is complex as well as the process of connecting it, especially if the user is not an expert in the use of the API. Sometimes, this has delayed our development agenda and required additional resources to fix issues.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack solves our requirement of how to handle a massive number of files for uploads and further processing. It has enhanced our productivity especially through its efficiency in transfer of files besides being very efficient in image manipulation. This has reduced the time spent on manual management of files meaning we can engage in other crucial activities. The integration in our current system has also increased our operational efficiency of the company. Altogether, the use of Filestack has enhanced our performance in the organization especially in the area of digital asset management.

Filestack has been used all across our website. It has sped up our uploads and the libraries are pretty easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Nothing as such, Filestack has been a good solution overall.

Filestack is helping us resolve image resolution and bleeds around the image. The libraries help us improve the image specs and make user experience much better.

  ### 16. Very helpful to keep our system safe

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcos N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Really helpful tool to keep system safe when dealing with uploads from users, the tool is easy to setup and offers tools like Image and Video SFW and antivirus check.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

In the first moment, when signing up to a new plan, the tools weren't ready just out of the box, we needed to talk to support a few times before get to work. Seems that same of the proccess are manual.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack is helping us to check files uploaded by customers to avoid virus and unsafe or sensitive content.

  ### 17. Great file upload tool with CDN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Their system is very reliable. We integrated Filestack into our site years ago and have never had any major issues. The fact that they combine a content delivery network into their solution means that uploading and delivering files to users is always fast, even internationally. They have easy plug-and-play code that you can grab and use right away, or customize using their APIs.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Their out-of-the-box image cropping tools don't have all the features I'd want out of an image upload tool. But there's enough flexibility that we can work around that. Also, while they have AI object recognition, the price has always been too high for us, such that we gravitate toward more custom / open-source solutions.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack handles file transfer, file storage, scaling images to different sizes (e.g. thumbnails, previews, HD, etc), and more. The CDN means that our tools work just as well all over the globe.

  ### 18. Seamless file handling for 10+ years with no issues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

It just works - we have had it installed on one of our applications for over a decade with zero problems.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

I really do not have any dislikes - it's just a solid utility that doesn't give us issues.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack provides a plug n' play image upload, storage, and delivery solution that prevented us from having to roll our own.

  ### 19. Easy to integrate, easy for end users

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Easy setup. The library can be integrated easily without lots of developer efforts.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Possibility to customize the interface within the professional package.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lots of developer efforts. Knowledge of file upload and cdn.

  ### 20. Does the job as it needs to be done :)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yusuf C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

One way or another Filestack has a solution to probably all the use cases that you might encounter when you are doing something with files. I feel confident when I have an edge-case related to file handling. Also, I do not know how you people are doing it but never gets broken :)

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Undoubtedly, Filestack is worth its price. Nevertheless, I was unable to use it in a few other projects/products because of the price.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When working serverless on AWS file handling stuff gets a bit more cumbersome. Filestack almost abstracts all those complications away. Filestack makes serverless file handling easy and possible.

  ### 21. Quick simple solution to upload woes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

It's quick and easy to get up and running, start making API calls, and performing transformation/move operations around your storage buckets from your client facing application. The upload picker has the features you'd expect. Word native docx to pdf transformations are A+ value add.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

There is no user management to share access to the administration and configuration page with other team members. Customer support is uninformed and seems more focused on clearing their ticket queue than understanding a well-written and described ticket.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Docx -> PDF native Word conversion without any of the poor performance free and open source options give you. If you need a PDF to look exactly like the Docx Word file, filestack is the answer.

  ### 22. A great timesaver for small dev teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abe C. | Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

We adopted Filestack to help ease the hassles of uploading and transcoding images, videos, and PDFs. Customer expectations around media handling have increased greatly over the past few years, and there are many tricky issues to solve. These can all be addressed through a combination of open-source libraries and custom implementation - which is the right approach in some cases. But for smaller dev/product teams, or when budget is more available than engineering time, Filestack's uploading and transcoding tools can save precious time.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

While the transcoding and CDN are very convenient, they could become very expensive conveniences as upload volume and bandwidth usage grows.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving engineering time

  ### 23. Great solution for our canvas printing business!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

We had our developer use Filestack to create custom sizing for our gallery wrapped canvas business. This allowed customers to select from various sizes and to upload the photo they were having made into a canvas. It worked great for us and we loved using Filestack!

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

I can't think of any downsides to Filestack. For what we were doing it worked out perfect for us and solved the problem we were having with getting customer photos sent to us along with the canvas dimensions.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filestack made it possible for us to obtain customer images along with the exact sizing needed for creating gallery wrapped canvas prints for customers. Without Filestack we had not way to do this through our cart.

  ### 24. Takes off burden of file management

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Very easy to use. Our customers are using it to upload files to our system. The widget provides a seamless experience with just a couple of simple steps to set up.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

The rest API documentation is sometimes not clear enough.
We had issues when trying to remove uploaded files. The API fails, and the file cannot be removed for some reason.
The pricing mechanism could be described better. Not clear enough which metric contributes to the overall price in which way.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Uploading and storing our customer files with a simple Filestack widget.
2. Generating reports in the background and storing them in filestack before providing them to the end user.

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Filestack was really easy to integrate into our application, and this is complemented massively by the ease of use for frontend end users of our platform, this full stack platform for file management is the go-to and we recommend it a lot.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

We have had issues when trying to get answers out of support, and contacting them with suggestions or bugs sometimes falls on deaf ears. Rare we have to contact them, but it's annoying nonetheless.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a tool for our web application which we can be used to upload/manage/edit/manipulate files, or images, with a super sleek easy interface. Without the complexities of building it ourselves, and reinventing the wheel.

  ### 28. Filestack made large/batch file uploads easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian M. | Founder, CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Filestack automates/abstracts our cropping infrastructure, saves our users from upload/memory errors, and consistently delivers hosted files. Dealing with substantial quantities of large files is a huge lift, and Filestack handles it for us perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Depending on your use case, pricing can get expensive when using transformations (i.e., cropping). While Filestack is a fully-managed SaaS service, it's still essential that you keep caching in mind. With intelligent application design, pricing is very reasonable.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a digital marketing platform, our users frequently batch-upload high-quality images and videos from their web browsers, and we need to crop these files into multiple versions. Filestack handles this so that we can focus on adding value.

  ### 35. Filestack

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Radhika B. | Senior Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Filestack is one of the best file upload tools out there. It is very easy to set up and supports various platforms such as Google Drive, OneDrive, local upload etc. It is very well compatible with various frameworks and can be configured very easily on both the client and server-side. Also, it has a very helpful and robust support team that can help you with any issues or even arrive at solutions to the use case.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

One major disadvantage of using Filestack is that it doesn't maintain the directory structure of the uploaded folder but extracts and saves individual files. Also, there are no inbuilt extraction features available for compressed files. This is a common use case but we were able to customize Filestack to achieve this solution.

**Recommendations to others considering Filestack:**

If you are looking for a robust file upload tool, Filestack is one of the best options out there. It has ready to use components for most frameworks.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have deployed Filestack to build an enterprise-level file-sharing system. Major benefits realized were ease of setup and use and it provides out of the box solutions for most of our use-cases. Filestack support team always came in handy in case of any problem or issue we faced.

  ### 40. Carved images of diamond to brilliant.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** peterson t. | CSO (Chief Sales Officer), Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Filestack?**

Working with Filestack has been the most refreshing thing we've had. We have a team of graphic journalists for whom this platform has enabled them to achieve images of an enviable quality. We keep files with original images of reference and new versions of images with the desired size according to the requirements and needs of each publication. For our team, each image is a jewel, such as a diamond that needs to be carved to transform it into a brilliant one, and thanks to all the goodness that Filestack gives us, after much searching and searching, we manage to carve extraordinarily that our images receive great amount of compliments. Regardless of the format with Filestack we manage to transform, rotate, combine and make any number of changes and improvements in a number of images, safely and confidently, with storage in the cloud, and ability to share regardless of location and time. A success thanks to Filestack.

**What do you dislike about Filestack?**

Initially the modifications to the images was not really easy, even in some cases quality changes were not achieved in the images worked and this due to the lack of skill by the users, until achieving the skill and proper handling of the tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Filestack:**

Combine, transform, play with your images, unleash your imagination and make the most of all the benefits of the tool, you will not regret the changes made.

**What problems is Filestack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We managed to compress the images already improved without losing the quality of them, what had been a headache now happened to be history.
