What do you like best?

Luckily the project I am working on, allows for download of particular architectural, structural or other plans available by FieldWire (that are selected by you, the user) that can be downloaded and saved to a particular folder on your computer. FieldWire sends you an email of the plans that were exported and you can download PDFs of each plan; I haven't attempted to edit the PDFs that are downloaded, you can choose if the PDF pages of plans have links to project RFIs or other layers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Whenever I try to connect with FieldWire on my cell phone hot spot for internet, or trying to log in on my mobile browser, the speed that the FieldWire website operates is really slow. I would do this software with a reliable laptop/desktop computer and your permanent office, hard wired internet connection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The contractor provided FieldWire for us to use to look at the project architectural, structural, electrical and other applicable permitted plans. Our company had to ask the contractor a few times for new invite links (via email) to set up an account, for the links didn't work at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I don't have a lot of controls in FieldWire, since the contractor provides FieldWire with the plans we are provided on this project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Being able to make red lines and everyone and creating tasks for different members of our team. Having a dedicated desktop application and phone app is key. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The square photos are a little odd. The categories section is a little confusing unless you select tasks or plans in the top left. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure to upload full size plans as it will help when zooming in on the plans to make annotations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have eliminated losing the redlined plans from the Field and not having the plans updated for finish work. Being able to answer questions from the techs and view pictures from the site right on the plan has been crucial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Fieldwire is a very useful tool for our company. We typically have 3-5 jobs going on at once and this helps us control the drawings our shop workers are working of off. It is very nice being able to combine different drawings under one job so that there is less paper being printed off and discarded. We we receive a larger job with hundreds of pages of drawings it is a lot easier to keep my team up to date with the most recent design and not have to worry about them working off of an outdated drawing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The least helpful thing is the marking up and commenting is rather difficult to do. Some of the drawings that our company logs does not complete the hyperlink for cutsheet or detail sheets. If there was a way to automatically number drawings as they are uploaded instead of just assumed that would be nice as well. It would also be nicer if it was simpler to delete old projects instead of having to archive them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is a very useful tool for larger jobs that have hundreds of pages of drawings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It makes controlling drawing revisions and access to information much easier and all in one place. It also helps us keep track of what material has been built and what needs to be completed under the Task section. We have also realized that with the ability to create Tasks it makes finishing jobs easier and quicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Fieldwire gives my team the capability to have project plans, submittals, etc. with them at all times while conducting project inspections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Projects are not automatically loaded on mobile. It would be great if there was an option to have them load when on Wi-Fi. There have been a few times that I've uploaded new documents but forgot to load them on my phone prior to leaving Wi-Fi. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you're searching for an affordable yet functional project management software, then look no further. We had reviewed other competitors, but the cost far outweighed the benefit we would gain. Our role is that of the project Owner, as such, we don't need the full capabilities offered by the competitors. Our primary needs are document access and documentation of deficiencies. I used the free plan for one of our Library projects and was immediately hooked on the efficiency it added to my team. No longer did we have to lug sets of plans with us, or get back to the office and have a hard time recalling where the detailed photo of an issue was taken. Also the hyperlinks to details are fantastic when reviewing installation of reinforcing steel, or reviewing the wall assembly detail at a window or door opening. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use Fieldwire mainly for tracking project defeciencies and ensuring they're corrected. The capability to generate tasks with photos and locations on the plans greatly increases our efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The ability to document specific items in the field. Specifically contractor installed items, we review the construction process periodically, and is good to have a list of deficient items and the ability to go back and review each one through the app. Plus if we use Fieldwire as a survey tool, we can drop points in a room and take numerous pictures of that space, which helps for producing existing conditions for other people in the office not in the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Switching between plans, is still a bit cumbersome. We typically go room-by-room, and switch between power, lighting, fire alarm, but you have to zoom out to switch plan views, plus you can't stay in your set of plans, it's always the full set or "All Plans" view. There's no way to move the task window when you're in the iPad app either, so if you forget where you are in the plan (like room number) you have to get out of the task and then get back into it.

If you add a PDF, such as a RFI sketch, you need to have an internet connection to view it, which is rough in a construction site, not sure why you can't just download those to the plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I'm a consulting engineer, and part of our contract is to provide owners with field reports of deficient items. Fieldwire allows us to document, and photograph those deficiencies for the owner, and provides them with leverage to hold contractors accountable. Additionally, this becomes a living document, so we can review items completed by the contractor, to ensure they are in fact complete. We can add, sketches, and specifications as well, to ensure the plans are up-to-date as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Uploading Plans to Fieldwire is quick and easy. It just works. When I upload a big set of plans, it scans the sheet names automatically and gets almost all of them right, and then I just have to clean up a few of the sheets that are formatted differently (different disciplines etc.)

The guys in the field love it compared to having to lug around paper plans.

Fieldwire Rocks! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

We would absolutely love if Fieldwire could do searchable plan sets - if we could search for the words on a plan sheet instead of just the sheet name or description, that would be helpful.

We wish the scale calibration and measurement tools could be made more precise and have a magnifying glass tool available to get the dimensions closer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Getting plan revisions to the field is worlds easier with Fieldwire. Gone are the days of printing off revised plan sheets and trying to coordinate with the Field employees to meet up and get them the new sheets. With Fieldwire it's instantaneous! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Fieldwire is easy to use and puts all the information my installers need right at their fingertips. The real time updates and reports make it easy to provide the most up to date information to our customers on the status of their project. We use fieldwire on all of our project installs and will continue to do so... we wont work without it now. The hashtag feature is awesome, we just need to figure out how to handle that the most efficient way possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The ease of having plans loaded and the ability to "take them the field" at the click of a mouse! This quick and simple program makes plan management a breeze. It also makes it easy to load documents for the field crew and for the field crew to upload daily pictures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It would be nice to have the ability to export a plan list with latest and greatest set of plans or an option to print old AND new versions to compare. It would be nice to have the ability to download or print in an excel or word doc. This option would be helpful when sending a current plans list to subcontractors and to the field and office staff. I would like to see the price change to options of either users, pages, or projects used on a monthly basis. It would be nice to have options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Its one of the easiest products/software to use! I highly recommend it to save money, plan revisions and ease of slip-sheeting and having the field team updated at the click of a mouse. Worth ever penny compared to other more expensive products out on the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are solving the costs of printing paper copies of plans. We have realized, just recently, that we can overlay plans to view old versus new versions. VERY helpful! The benefits of having plans digital makes it easy to swap old versus new and also helps the field staff to receive the plans at a moments notice versus driving to the office or wasting time to meet up to get the new set. As we all know, new plans ALWAYS seem to come out during the middle of the work day! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

the drawing part where you can remotely see the drawing online. and it seems also compress it so we can load it in a short time without lagging, auto-detect drawing name is also interesting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

also the drawing part. The way how the system is organizing the drawing set is really cumbersome, It does not allow the drawing with the same name, which is not really making sense from the user's point of view. If the drawing is under different directory, it should allow drawing with the same name Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It usually works better if its GC using it, As a substrate the cost maybe too high if using all its features for all employee. We ended up only use it for very few people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

sharing drawings, especially the foreman dont need to come back print the drawing all the time. But it does not solve the problem totally. Physical drawing still got its strength. It maybe good for detail, but pm or drafter has to "remember" to upload to it. Which unfortunately not always happen Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Drawing organization, revision capability, and photos. For photos, we use this heavily to reconcile credit card receipts with our statements. This is done by providing access of all Fieldwire projects to our office assistant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The video feature. It would be nice to be able to shoot a video with your iPhone or iPad and then upload it to Fieldwire like you can with photos.

Most of the time when drawings are updated, we have to force close the app (iPhone or iPad) and then restart it to get the new revisions to load.

Not all features of the desktop web-browser are available on the iPad/iPhone app, nor are they available on the mobile web-browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are looking for a solid cloud based system to distribute construction drawings into the field, with the ability to markup, then this is the right choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Not lugging whole sets of drawings around all the time. Being able to compile project documents in one place that is easily accessible by our whole team. Marking up drawings. The constant compliments we get from architects and customers for being (or at least appearing) 21st century! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not so much a dislike, but it would be great of a daily report feature was included at the pro level. After implementation there were a few things I didn't like that I pointed out to the customer service representative and all of those were resolved in the software--which I thought was pretty cool. I may not have been the only one who noticed those problems or pointed them out, but I like to think they were listening to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It's fairly priced and a great value. We can't imagine living without it now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It saves so much time in communication between the office and the guys in the field. It also saves paper, storage and organization. Guys in the field who typically had to be provided with hard copies of documents (like submittals especially), can now just look on their iPad. When you're walking around a site, you don't have to stop and lay paper drawings out on the ground to see what you want to look at--or squint at an awkward 11x17 set. And the app and site are very user friendly, intuitive and easy to organize and manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

As a general contractor with multiple projects, Fieldwire has allowed us to be in better control of items while in the field. Our communication with subcontractors has greatly improved. In fact, many of them are investing in Fieldwire themselves. We definitely consider this a useful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The item we dislike the most is the pen tool. It would be awesome if we could create static "copies" of a sheet within the app and have the pen tool write more smoothly like its capabilities are used in other iOS apps. I am sure this can be easily fixed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Definitely give it a try. You will likely find that it is can help your business in many areas. I was skeptical at first but we have had it live in the field now for nearly 4 months and we would not go back. My subs, architects and engineers are quickly making the switch to utilize Fieldwire for their teams as well. Highly recommend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are having better communication with subcontractors without always having to meet them on site to go over items. This is especially helpful while we are running multiple projects. It allows for better time management on our side and the subs like it because they do not have to leave a job to come discuss changes or punch items. We can notate them with photos and send to them so there are not any questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We track everything in Fieldwire, any time we're going out in the field find a place to track our discoveries (as engineers/inspectors) for components we're checking out. Then our managers can easily check in and share the info with their colleagues without needing to request it from us. OR we can export the info in a beautiful PDF export from our walk down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It could be an isolated case, but my coworkers and I use Fieldwire on our Android phones, yet our extra five inspectors use iPads and have had glitches with pictures syncing with the cloud on multiple occasions over months, meaning we can only view THEIR pictures on THEIR iPad. It's taken me hours of troubleshooting and MAYBE the issue is a hardware issue of the iPads, but it's happened on multiple devices over a year time--odd coincidence? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

- Inspections of components

- any time where one is trending the condition of multiple items in multiple locations over the course of days, weeks, or even years

- storing and annotating PDFs for common drawings, specifications, procedures, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We used to have to spend hours aligning notes with note pads, cameras, taking pictures of the location written on a piece of paper THEN the issue, then management waiting until we could sort through and load up the pictures into a presentable deliverable before they could really SEE the issues. NOW it all happens on the go and we can collaborate on issues whether in the field, or away from the site. Work gets done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I can post as many projects as I want to and quickly assign any foreman access to view the project. We travel across the country, so sometimes we have a foreman in the area of a second project where they need to check the status, so rather than mailing paper copy plans, I am able to give them access to full sets of drawings so they can make a site visit. I have saved so much by not using FedEx Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish it was easier to pull off photos on my mobile device. We use social media a lot, so if i had the ability to simply save a photo from a project to my library, that would be very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is an easy tool to implement even with stubborn staff who don't think they care to learn about technology or advancement in technology. Now we can't live without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Always making sure the crews have the latest and greatest plans in the palm of their had. Paper plans get lost, or dirty and unreadable. Also, upper management likes that they have photos every day of the progress on their projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Fieldwire effectively encourages the right amount of communication between field personnel and office staff. Tasks can be tracked, issues can be discussed, photos increase the project's documentation and progress can be planned. The best feature is the individual checklists that can be added into a task. Instead of creating thirty tasks for one room, a Room task can be created and all of the installation items, or verification items, can be created in a checklist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Thee Gantt Chart view is only available on the laptop computer and not on the mobile devices. Project Managers and other office staff are not the only users that benefit from a Gantt Chart view of the project. It helps show the team what they have coming up in the next work period. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Documentation, verification, and resource planning and all problems that had been accomplished using different procedures involving different software, sometimes only available to office staff. Field personnel need this information too, and having any way to show these items to them in one package means that they can access it without a laptop on site. What do you like best?

I like being able to reference ALL of the projects that I have worked on in one platform, and it's between my work computer and work phone so very effortless. Also it's secure to share amidst the project collaborators, so I know I'm sending not only plans but security to our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the scan doesn't pick up T's, 0's or W's and V's. I get a chuckle whenever the plumbing sheets P0.0 comes out as PO.O after scanning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Fieldwire is a great platform to not only share with collaborators but also to use on the field, on the go, to access multiple project plans in one platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My company has used Fieldwire as a courtesy to send to project collaborators when we print off certified architectural plans. So far it's been working pretty well, outside of some clients who insist to get links to download instead. However I've noticed a lot of turn around with accepting and adapting to Fieldwire. What do you like best?

Being able to collaborate between the PM/Foreman & prefab on a cloud based network.

Sharing marked up drawings/asbuilts.

Uploading submittals & cut sheets.

Assigning tasks with start and end dates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Generating the reports does not give all the info.

When you create a task and it puts it into 2 letters as a heading and when you open it it does not say the project or the task, does get confusing when you are doing a bunch of tasks in one project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Scheduling my prefab work flow and man power.

Being able to create multiple marked up drawings and share them under separate drawing folders by system is extremely helpful to the foreman in the field.

Being able to share the information on across the board on every project really gets the whole company on the same page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The ability to mark up the plans on site and have the office be able to see this instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I would like to be able to add electrical symbols to the plans. We are an electrical contractor and it would be nice to be able to add symbols to the palns during an on site walkthrough. Rather than have to do this in another program and then upload to Fieldwire. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have noticed better job tracking of progress of projects. It has also helped keep jobs organized for completion of projects. Many times we have a time gap from the time we rough in a project to when it is ready to go back to trim out. Being able to customize the templates toour needs is great. What do you like best?

One of the things that I love most about Fieldwire is the ability to give my foreman and superintendents access to all of the project information on their mobile devices.

Fieldwire has worked very well for managing RFI's-attaching photos and markups has never been easier.

Fieldwire has also made compiling project closeout documents a breeze. All we have to do is download our test reports and markups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I wish that we had the ability to overlay drawings from different projects, and create a Gantt chart across multiple projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Fieldwire has the all of the functions of other project management software options for a great price point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are providing better field coordination with Fieldwire. We also do not have to print hundreds of pages of submittals for each project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
