Luckily the project I am working on, allows for download of particular architectural, structural or other plans available by FieldWire (that are selected by you, the user) that can be downloaded and saved to a particular folder on your computer. FieldWire sends you an email of the plans that were exported and you can download PDFs of each plan; I haven't attempted to edit the PDFs that are downloaded, you can choose if the PDF pages of plans have links to project RFIs or other layers. Whenever I try to connect with FieldWire on my cell phone hot spot for internet, or trying to log in on my mobile browser, the speed that the FieldWire website operates is really slow. I would do this software with a reliable laptop/desktop computer and your permanent office, hard wired internet connection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire its an important software for the different projects because of its functional features which offers various important capabilities.

Mobile access its stable, easy to learn and the training its available and excellent reliable technical support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire has a simple interface with accessible tools and easy on navigation and the implementation was increadible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire it a functional software for easy project management, and the workflow management works very perfect also.
Scheduling and reporting of financial, easy payment collection, Fieldwire provides the best ability for the user to have a successful projects.
Free trail its also available for the new users, as well as a reliable and effective training on the tool usability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing for me at the moment to quote about the product performance and the features functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to make red lines and everyone and creating tasks for different members of our team. Having a dedicated desktop application and phone app is key. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The square photos are a little odd. The categories section is a little confusing unless you select tasks or plans in the top left. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire is a very useful tool for our company. We typically have 3-5 jobs going on at once and this helps us control the drawings our shop workers are working of off. It is very nice being able to combine different drawings under one job so that there is less paper being printed off and discarded. We we receive a larger job with hundreds of pages of drawings it is a lot easier to keep my team up to date with the most recent design and not have to worry about them working off of an outdated drawing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The least helpful thing is the marking up and commenting is rather difficult to do. Some of the drawings that our company logs does not complete the hyperlink for cutsheet or detail sheets. If there was a way to automatically number drawings as they are uploaded instead of just assumed that would be nice as well. It would also be nicer if it was simpler to delete old projects instead of having to archive them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire gives my team the capability to have project plans, submittals, etc. with them at all times while conducting project inspections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Projects are not automatically loaded on mobile. It would be great if there was an option to have them load when on Wi-Fi. There have been a few times that I've uploaded new documents but forgot to load them on my phone prior to leaving Wi-Fi. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to document specific items in the field. Specifically contractor installed items, we review the construction process periodically, and is good to have a list of deficient items and the ability to go back and review each one through the app. Plus if we use Fieldwire as a survey tool, we can drop points in a room and take numerous pictures of that space, which helps for producing existing conditions for other people in the office not in the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Switching between plans, is still a bit cumbersome. We typically go room-by-room, and switch between power, lighting, fire alarm, but you have to zoom out to switch plan views, plus you can't stay in your set of plans, it's always the full set or "All Plans" view. There's no way to move the task window when you're in the iPad app either, so if you forget where you are in the plan (like room number) you have to get out of the task and then get back into it.
If you add a PDF, such as a RFI sketch, you need to have an internet connection to view it, which is rough in a construction site, not sure why you can't just download those to the plans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Uploading Plans to Fieldwire is quick and easy. It just works. When I upload a big set of plans, it scans the sheet names automatically and gets almost all of them right, and then I just have to clean up a few of the sheets that are formatted differently (different disciplines etc.)
The guys in the field love it compared to having to lug around paper plans.
Fieldwire Rocks! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We would absolutely love if Fieldwire could do searchable plan sets - if we could search for the words on a plan sheet instead of just the sheet name or description, that would be helpful.
We wish the scale calibration and measurement tools could be made more precise and have a magnifying glass tool available to get the dimensions closer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire is easy to use and puts all the information my installers need right at their fingertips. The real time updates and reports make it easy to provide the most up to date information to our customers on the status of their project. We use fieldwire on all of our project installs and will continue to do so... we wont work without it now. The hashtag feature is awesome, we just need to figure out how to handle that the most efficient way possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We wish that the verification column would not archive so quickly and that it would be available at all times like the remainder of the columns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
fastest access to drawings,
ways of creating tasks and making sure those are properly assigned,
have multiple sections or departments drawings in separate tabs at single location,
easy way of interacting in desktop or mobile versions
access the latest version at any point of time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
feels like needed more color patterns for easy identification and
also there should be a better or faster approach for printing the selected sheet or set of sheets Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of having plans loaded and the ability to "take them the field" at the click of a mouse! This quick and simple program makes plan management a breeze. It also makes it easy to load documents for the field crew and for the field crew to upload daily pictures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be nice to have the ability to export a plan list with latest and greatest set of plans or an option to print old AND new versions to compare. It would be nice to have the ability to download or print in an excel or word doc. This option would be helpful when sending a current plans list to subcontractors and to the field and office staff. I would like to see the price change to options of either users, pages, or projects used on a monthly basis. It would be nice to have options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
the drawing part where you can remotely see the drawing online. and it seems also compress it so we can load it in a short time without lagging, auto-detect drawing name is also interesting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
also the drawing part. The way how the system is organizing the drawing set is really cumbersome, It does not allow the drawing with the same name, which is not really making sense from the user's point of view. If the drawing is under different directory, it should allow drawing with the same name Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Drawing organization, revision capability, and photos. For photos, we use this heavily to reconcile credit card receipts with our statements. This is done by providing access of all Fieldwire projects to our office assistant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The video feature. It would be nice to be able to shoot a video with your iPhone or iPad and then upload it to Fieldwire like you can with photos.
Most of the time when drawings are updated, we have to force close the app (iPhone or iPad) and then restart it to get the new revisions to load.
Not all features of the desktop web-browser are available on the iPad/iPhone app, nor are they available on the mobile web-browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not lugging whole sets of drawings around all the time. Being able to compile project documents in one place that is easily accessible by our whole team. Marking up drawings. The constant compliments we get from architects and customers for being (or at least appearing) 21st century! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not so much a dislike, but it would be great of a daily report feature was included at the pro level. After implementation there were a few things I didn't like that I pointed out to the customer service representative and all of those were resolved in the software--which I thought was pretty cool. I may not have been the only one who noticed those problems or pointed them out, but I like to think they were listening to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a general contractor with multiple projects, Fieldwire has allowed us to be in better control of items while in the field. Our communication with subcontractors has greatly improved. In fact, many of them are investing in Fieldwire themselves. We definitely consider this a useful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The item we dislike the most is the pen tool. It would be awesome if we could create static "copies" of a sheet within the app and have the pen tool write more smoothly like its capabilities are used in other iOS apps. I am sure this can be easily fixed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We track everything in Fieldwire, any time we're going out in the field find a place to track our discoveries (as engineers/inspectors) for components we're checking out. Then our managers can easily check in and share the info with their colleagues without needing to request it from us. OR we can export the info in a beautiful PDF export from our walk down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It could be an isolated case, but my coworkers and I use Fieldwire on our Android phones, yet our extra five inspectors use iPads and have had glitches with pictures syncing with the cloud on multiple occasions over months, meaning we can only view THEIR pictures on THEIR iPad. It's taken me hours of troubleshooting and MAYBE the issue is a hardware issue of the iPads, but it's happened on multiple devices over a year time--odd coincidence? I can post as many projects as I want to and quickly assign any foreman access to view the project. We travel across the country, so sometimes we have a foreman in the area of a second project where they need to check the status, so rather than mailing paper copy plans, I am able to give them access to full sets of drawings so they can make a site visit. I have saved so much by not using FedEx Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish it was easier to pull off photos on my mobile device. We use social media a lot, so if i had the ability to simply save a photo from a project to my library, that would be very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fieldwire effectively encourages the right amount of communication between field personnel and office staff. Tasks can be tracked, issues can be discussed, photos increase the project's documentation and progress can be planned. The best feature is the individual checklists that can be added into a task. Instead of creating thirty tasks for one room, a Room task can be created and all of the installation items, or verification items, can be created in a checklist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Thee Gantt Chart view is only available on the laptop computer and not on the mobile devices. Project Managers and other office staff are not the only users that benefit from a Gantt Chart view of the project. It helps show the team what they have coming up in the next work period. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like being able to reference ALL of the projects that I have worked on in one platform, and it's between my work computer and work phone so very effortless. Also it's secure to share amidst the project collaborators, so I know I'm sending not only plans but security to our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the scan doesn't pick up T's, 0's or W's and V's. I get a chuckle whenever the plumbing sheets P0.0 comes out as PO.O after scanning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to collaborate between the PM/Foreman & prefab on a cloud based network.
Sharing marked up drawings/asbuilts.
Uploading submittals & cut sheets.
Assigning tasks with start and end dates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Generating the reports does not give all the info.
When you create a task and it puts it into 2 letters as a heading and when you open it it does not say the project or the task, does get confusing when you are doing a bunch of tasks in one project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to use. Task setup and communication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Need to have different categories for check box vs having all check box on one line item.
For example on one task should have
Task:1
-Phase one
Check box 1
Check box 2
-Phase two
Check box 1
Check box 2
-Phase three
Check box 1
Check box 2
Task1
Check box 1
Check box 2
Check box 1
Check box 2
Check box 1
Check box 2
Also need to have a option on the app to all everyone to see what’s going on.
If I create a task for one tech but he leaves for the day and I have another truck comes in. He won’t actively see everything because it’s assigned to one tech Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to mark up the plans on site and have the office be able to see this instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like to be able to add electrical symbols to the plans. We are an electrical contractor and it would be nice to be able to add symbols to the palns during an on site walkthrough. Rather than have to do this in another program and then upload to Fieldwire. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the things that I love most about Fieldwire is the ability to give my foreman and superintendents access to all of the project information on their mobile devices.
Fieldwire has worked very well for managing RFI's-attaching photos and markups has never been easier.
Fieldwire has also made compiling project closeout documents a breeze. All we have to do is download our test reports and markups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish that we had the ability to overlay drawings from different projects, and create a Gantt chart across multiple projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
