I don't have amassed a high number of users, and also my video count is somewhat on the lower end. If there's anything we can't figure out on our own, the Fastly knowledge base and Support team are always there for us to consult. The extremely high ease-of-use and quality of support would be less valuable if Fastly weren't the highest performing CDN we've ever worked with. We've done a handful of performance comparisons with other CDNs, and Fastly has always come out ahead. **What do you dislike about Fastly Content Delivery?** Until the recent acquisition of Signal Sciences, Fastly has had to point us to their partners for complementary WAF and API security services. For the API we need to be able to instantly invalidate cache when data changes at the origin. Only Fastly was able to accomplish this worldwide in our tests in under 200ms consistently. Also, as a baseline, requests to the CDN are really fast in terms of response time - usually under 100ms, often under 50ms. **What do you dislike about Fastly Content Delivery?** The language to customize Fastly is VCL, which is based on varnish. While this is incredibly powerful as a language, its not something we were comfortable with. We control all our configuration with infrastructure as code (Terraform) with no clickops allowing us to make rapid controlled changes with simple pipelines. We have never second guessed our decision to use Fastly as our CDN and are ready to embrace their new products such as Compute@Edge as they become available. Support as also been out of this world when compared to other vendors we use, we have a shared Slack channel and there is always someone available to help us debug issues. I cant recommend Fastly enough to anybody. **What do you dislike about Fastly Content Delivery?** There is very little I dislike about Fastly, we have been using it for a year now (in production for 10 months) and have been through server outages and malicious attacks, all without once going offline. The only initial problem we had was with Alerting, we were able to get logs going into our logging manager (Datadog) pretty simply, but since there is so much data it was difficult to create good alerting rules to monitor traffic. **What problems is Fastly Content Delivery solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our previous CDN was more of a black box solution and didnt allow us much control of (or insights into) traffic, with Fastly we now have fine grained control which allows us to have our CDN as part of our application rather than just a front door. Secondarily I would say the fact that Fastly intact and is configurable with Terraform our Infra-as-code management software is a huge plus meaning that is always part of our process and doesn't need extra management away from what we have already. **What do you dislike about Fastly Content Delivery?** That like everything it cost money :) but even that said, working with fastly they have provided a good service at a good price. **What problems is Fastly Content Delivery solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the main issues that we wanted to solve was WAF and the fact we didn't have one, next was the speed of our sites, then followed both other features like image manipulation and optimization lastly other security concerns. ### 22. It also holds up to the name, and is fast to purge a cached files (an issue we had with another previous provider which took above 10 minutes to do this). Fastly does this in seconds as we've tested when we see the updates. Also, absolutely love the "Dynamic Caching" feature. It's worth the effort to do this. **What do you dislike about Fastly Content Delivery?** I wish logging were more obvious and clear in the instructions initially, but they do work. It's just logs will take a bit of setup work too that we didn't expect initially. Once it's done, it's good. **Recommendations to others considering Fastly Content Delivery:** It helps me sleep at night, and that's the best recommendation I can give. Security is there, logging is there, it's fast and stable. **What problems is Fastly Content Delivery solving and how is that benefiting you?** Caching and also WAF (firewall). We needed to distribute our files to help protect our systems from user load, and security checks on the traffic. We also needed logs of this traffic for security reasons. The caching solution just works well. It provides myself and our team just a less stressful time using this system. Fastly does what I hope every system would do in it's position => stays out of the way, and let's us get our work done. We clear the cache, and use dynamic cache, then our updates and images are online and working as expected. It updates so quickly that both our teams, and our clients were impressed. ### 25. Clear, detailed global metrics on CDN caching, 2. More granular control of CDN services, both for VoD and live streaming, and 3. Expert support. Benefits: So far, the move to Fastly has ticked all these boxes. ### 50.
