"Fast, High-Quality Search Results with a Clean, Uncluttered UI"
5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

It gets the job done really well. The best part is the quality of the search results, and it’s very fast—results come back quickly, and the pages are clean and easy to read. The dashboard UI is also solid and uncluttered. On top of that, it was very easy for us to set up because the documentation was clear and genuinely helpful. They also offer integrations, like with LangChain, and they have MCPs as well, which worked out of the box for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

Everything is fine overall, and there’s nothing particularly significant to point out. The only real issue for me is the cost, which goes up when you want full-page content. One other small thing is that their AI summaries can be a bit generic, but that’s a minor concern. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, cheap data for keeping a CRM currentBulk People Lookups Fast, Structured, and Cost-Effective"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

Exa’s people search and contents endpoints handle bulk work well. We ran thousands of lookups in one batch with no throttling, and costs came in under our estimates. The contents endpoint returns a person’s work history as structured data with start and end dates, so we can check whether someone still works at a company with simple code instead of parsing text. Every result includes a citation and a crawl date, which lets us tell fresh evidence from stale evidence. That matters a lot when you clean CRM data. Errors are clear too: out-of-credit and no-data responses have their own status codes, so our job stopped cleanly and resumed from the right row. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

Coverage and freshness are the main limits. A noticeable share of the LinkedIn profiles we requested were not in Exa’s index, so those contacts got no answer. Cached profiles sometimes lag behind real changes. One person had rejoined a company after Exa last crawled their page, so the data showed them as gone. We also hit a few data quirks, such as a current role stored with an end date equal to its start date, and we had to handle those in our own code. Search answers can mix in a different person with the same name, so you need your own check that a result is the right person. Credits are prepaid, and our first run stopped partway when they ran out. An auto top-up or spend alert in the dashboard would help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quickly Finds Research Gaps and New Sources for Systematic Reviews"
5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

It helps me search for additional sources for my research. Even though I’ve only just started using it, it has already pointed out some gaps in my systematic review database and in the articles I found through search engines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

Even though I can’t really dislike it since I’ve only just started using it, I do think a more approachable, user-friendly interface would make a big difference, especially for teaching my students how to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exa: Powerful Deep Research Search for AI Agents"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

Exa is one of the best search engines for AI agents right now. If you're doing any form of deep research, they have various powerful features such as historical data that's incredibly valuable. It may take a little learning to fully be empowered by all that's capable but to get started is simple as it's almost similar to a Google search after the initial setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

Not much. Sometimes the data is not as good as elsewhere, but oftentimes and especially in recent months (we've used Exa for years), it's better. We did recently try their new Deep Research Ultra which was incredible, but it also was quite costly, similar to one of the costly frontier models (e.g. Fable 5.1) which we did not realize beforehand. But that's what appears to be their most expensive product/endpoint, general pricing is significantly better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quick and Easy Web Search Integration for Agents"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

I like the agility of Exa. I configure everything through APIs once, and then my agents can use the tool to search the Internet; I set it up and forget about it. The queries are very fast and provide quite detailed results. I also like that it's free up to a certain number of queries. I found it very easy to set up, and it helps me systematize my agents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

I don't know if Exa can be used for scientific and numerical research. I would like it to retain some user context to know what type of data to take, for example, if the research is numerical or scientific. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Deep Web Search, Seamless Claude Access—Could Be Smoother and Cheaper"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Exa?

I like that Exa's web search is comprehensive and goes deeper than most web searches. It can find researchers on a topic, which is really helpful, and I find the web search instrumental. I also like the MCP connector to Claude because I can access Exa directly from my Claude desktop without signing in to Exa. The initial setup was super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

At times, Exa is a bit clunky, and I’d really appreciate it if they lowered the price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Relevant AI Search—With Room for Clearer Sources"
4/5
What do you like best about Exa?

I like the quality of information Exa produces and how it saves me time without making me sift through endless links. It gives me better search results and more accurate AI results. I find it intuitive and easy to use, and its relevant results make it my go-to search engine for streamlining research and improving productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

I’d like clearer source attribution, with more context on why sources are prioritized and how reliable they are. Better filtering options for relevance, recency, and source quality would help me refine searches, and I’d like the processing time to be even quicker. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exa Finds Real Niche Competitor Sites Fast with Powerful Similar-Company Discovery"
4/5
What do you like best about Exa?

When I need to map out small, niche competitors for client work, Google just gives me sponsored junk, news links, and not so useful top 10 blogs. Exa actually finds the real company websites I'm looking for. My favorite feature is being able to drop in a link to one good company and immediately get 30 others just like it that I never would've tracked down on my own. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

It's definitely built for developers first, which makes it tough for non-technical users who just want a simple web dashboard. If someone doesn't know how to set up the API or use Python, they'll miss out on a lot of best features. It can also burn through credits pretty fast once you start pulling full page content for big lists of companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightning-Fast Search with Great APIs, but Missing Browser Profiles"
4/5
What do you like best about Exa?

I like how quickly Exa returns search results—around 300–400 milliseconds and below 500 milliseconds. The API and documentation are good, and Exa works well with our agents. Indexed search means I don’t have to maintain the search-result index, and live crawl helps get around bot blocking most of the time. The playground lets me quickly check whether a URL has search issues so I can resolve client issues faster. The API costs relatively less than competitors while keeping better quality. Setup was pretty easy, and the documentation and agent handled deployment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Exa?

I’d like Exa to offer a Kernel-like profile system for live crawling, so each user can keep their browsing tokens or browser cookies while searching. Exa doesn’t support Kernel, so we still use it alongside Exa, and I’d like to consolidate on Exa. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
