**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

It has all the plugins to be a code editing tool also. Along with that, it has all the features of the legacy Vi text editor, which gives a premium feel while using it. The simple interface facility keeps tasks easy.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Elvis text editor do supports most of programming languages, but when it comes to autogenerating the syntax, this tool it lacks it.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a software developer, I have to deal with a lot of code in my routine. Elvis gives me the possibility to articulate multiple projects in the same workspace and format the code and rewrite it with its beautiful, attractive UI.

  ### 2. Simple tool, simple tasks, yet extremely lightweight.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cleudy A. | Junior Javascript Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Elvis Text Editor has a really simple UI, a VIM-like shortcut scheme and it's super lightweight. Note taking and plain text editing is easily done with this application.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Text editor background colors can be a pain to change since it doesn't really gives you the chance to tweak it to any color, you'll have to change it to a set of preset colors and most of them are an eye sore.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Text editing and note taking is something you do in the office, at home, in the woods, anywhere. This tool will help you do such things with a plain and simple UI without any kind of distracting buttons or icons and a lightweight footprint on your system's memory.

  ### 3. Elvis text editor is a useful, simple text editor

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

I appreciate the intuitive text highlighting that Elvis provides, as well as its ability to handle many file formats. I do a fair amount of programming in R, and Elvis is a great editor for writing scripts.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Like all text editors, Elvis can be difficult to see in low-light environments, and a simple text format can be both pleasant and unpleasant, depending on the day!

**Recommendations to others considering Elvis Text Editor:**

It's a simple text editor. If it works for you, great!

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work in academic research, so my use of Elvis is for writing scripts, computer modeling, etc. It's not a typical use of a text editor, but I like the gui environment and it suits my needs.

  ### 4. Simple yet powerful Text Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose V. | Desarrollador Lead, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Vim-like editors are the best, Elvis Text Editor is even compatible with my personal pc running Windows 10, no crash at the moment and really handy to write simple text, blog posts and taking notes.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

It shouldn't be seen as something i dislike, but it hasn't been updated since 2012. If some vulnerability comes up, we will be in some serious problems.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taking notes, saving IPs of our intranet servers, showing off Vim skills, i like this tool and i don't think i will change its usage for a long time.

  ### 5. Funny name, not so funny tool.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandra M. | Jr Web Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Considering it hasn't received an update in some months, it's still a great text editing tool. You can edit plain text and JavaScript with it, but when it comes to HTML, you might find yourself with a not so handy tool.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

If you Open a HTML file, the editor will try to render it and show it in a WYSIWYG kind of editor. Not too functional for HTML editing. If you want to use it to edit the file, you'll have to copy the source code from another editor or the browser and paste it into Elvis.

**Recommendations to others considering Elvis Text Editor:**

If you're into VIM-like editors and you want to run anything like it in Windows, give this one a shot, but forget about editing HTML files, it will be sort of a roller coaster experience.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing JS and CSS files with it is super easy and handy as it's a light tool to have running.

  ### 6. Vi Graphical text editor with a twist!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie F. | Programmer, Utilities, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Although i don't like Vi that much, Elvis Text Editor brings it to Windows with a nicer name, icon and graphical interface. I'm not a Vi master yet, but every time i want to get some practice of Vi usage, i use this tool. Super lightweight and portable with a flash drive. I find myself using it to do minor edits to JavaScript source files and find it comfortable enough.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Theme editing is sort of weird working. It should have more pleasant color presets, instead of those eye hurting ones.

**Recommendations to others considering Elvis Text Editor:**

If you're a pro at Vi-like editors and you're running Windows, you can use this tool with a funny name to make a change in your routine. Having tools like this in Windows is useful to those devoted to them.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It loads bigger files faster than any other code editor i have on my laptop, which can be sometimes handy.

  ### 7. Powerful editor went wrong.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Orianna L. | Jr Java Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

VIM-ish kind of editor. If you're a VI wizard, you will find this editor as a nice alternative to other code editors, if you're into specific files modifications and you want a light tool to get it done.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

It has some serious issues with HTML code editing. It will let you the source code as WYSIWYG, which isn't what you'd expect from a VIM kind of editor.
Backgrounds colors can be an eye sore.

**Recommendations to others considering Elvis Text Editor:**

If you need a light tool to impress your coworkers with your VIM skills, Elvis can give you the opportunity to do your work fast, clean and using one of the lightest tools on the market.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of my coworkers use it in the office as a lightweight alternative to bigger IDEs. It will do the trick when changing little details and making last minute changes.

  ### 8. Nice and easy Javascript Code Editor

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephano C. | Android Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

- Vim based editor, if you're a Vi "Wizard" you will find this tool really handy and powerful in your hands.
- Low Consumption while working in big files.
- Nice twist with the Elvis' Name.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

- Simple color themes, there are some presets that will burn your eye's retinas if you use them.
- I haven't been able to modify HTML files in it yet, they will be opened as text files and the editor will "run" the file and render the html without styles into the editor making it weird looking.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When i have to do some light work on React Native based files, i find myself doing minor edits a lot of times whilst i do other heavy weight stuff, having this light tool to make my changes is a game changer for me.

  ### 9. Funny name, powerful tool.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos M. | Jr FrontEnd, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

As much as people might hate it, Vim is a must if you're a programmer who edits code on a daily basis. I liked the name they used on this tool and the tool itself as a Linux user, i get to edit code in a console a lot of times.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

If you don't pay enough attention to what you do, you might end up messing up your whole editing experience. The GUI isn't as user-friendly as it should. Also you can't edit color schemes, you have to deal with those eye sore colors, or keep it with its gray default color.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes I'm on my Windows installation, i don't like using bigger tools when i can use Vi-like editors to get done what i need in no time.

  ### 10. Amazing tool, great name

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos A. | Senior Java Developer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Some of my coworkers have been using this work months. I started using it last couple weeks and it's been awesome. Having a VIM with GUI running on Windows is something I've been looking for. Modifying Java SRC files and simple txt files is plain and simple with this tool.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Wish it had a Folder Tree view to browse projects easily, and better syntax highlighting colors. They're pretty harsh to the sight, they can give you a headache in minutes.

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Modifying files whilst programming with a heavy duty IDE can be done with this tool.

  ### 11. Was good but outdated

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Elvis Text Editor?**

Good editing tool, has all the basic features required, but lacks advanced tools.

**What do you dislike about Elvis Text Editor?**

Outdated. No updates, seem it was abandoned a few years ago. Terrible support page.

**Recommendations to others considering Elvis Text Editor:**

Find something more recent

**What problems is Elvis Text Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm basically editing js, php and css files. There are better free alternatives out there.
