I like its PostgreSQL compatibility, strong performance, scalability, and enterprise-grade security. It also makes it easier to manage and integrate PostgreSQL databases, and it provides reliable support for AI-driven applications. It has been easy to use on a daily basis. The database is reliable, performs well for regular development and application workloads, and integrates smoothly with our existing Node.js/Next.js and Prisma-based workflow.v

What I like best about EDB for PostgreSQL is that it keeps the flexibility and reliability of PostgreSQL while adding useful enterprise-level management features. The monitoring dashboards, performance insights, and automated alerts make it easier to identify issues before they affect users. It also simplifies managing multiple database instances from one place, which saves time during routine administration. The interface is fairly straightforward, and it integrates well with an existing PostgreSQL environment without requiring major workflow changes.

What I dislike most is that the initial setup and configuration can feel complex, especially for users who are new to enterprise PostgreSQL tools. **What do you like best about EDB Postgres AI Database?**

It takes open-source PostgreSQL and makes it production-ready for enterprise use without losing its flexibility. The built-in high availability and failover give real peace of mind for critical workloads, and the advanced replication and security features (auditing, access control) go well beyond stock PostgreSQL. Query performance on large datasets is noticeably better thanks to features like advanced indexing and parallel query execution. The 24x7 support is also a big plus over managing community Postgres or even AWS RDS on your own — issues get resolved faster. For teams migrating off Oracle, the compatibility tools and Migration Toolkit cut down a lot of manual rework too.

The licensing cost is the biggest downside — compared to running community PostgreSQL, it can feel expensive, especially for smaller teams or projects with tighter budgets. I like that EDB Postgres AI Database brings AI, analytics, and vector search together with PostgreSQL, making it easier to manage data in one place. I appreciate that it combines AI with PostgreSQL so easily and integrates analytics and vector search effectively, which is practical for developing modern AI applications while keeping data management straightforward. Also, the UI provides good Estate management that is useful for enterprises with hybrid infrastructure. It is quite smooth when integrating with other systems.

Overall, the platform works well, but areas for improvement include the documentation and the setup process, which could be made simpler for new users. I think the documentation could be a little more beginner-friendly. Clearer step-by-step setup instructions and more real-world examples would make it easier to understand and get started. **What do you like best about EDB Postgres AI Database?**

Most importantly, we don’t have to rely only on other native vector DBs. We can store vectors alongside other entities, like regular DB relations, so we no longer need lookups in a separate database for vector searches  it uses ANN, so search results and the connection pool have never been an issue for us. Since it’s becoming AI-native, agents can run inside the DB, and we can do NLP to get direct insights without the overhead of extra queries, lookups, or separate database calls. Overall, it makes these workflows much easier.

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres AI Database?**

Pricing is one of my concerns. Also, sometimes its AI feature isn’t able to understand the right query from a natural, plain-English request.

**What problems is EDB Postgres AI Database solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A relational DB with strong vector storage support. Being able to call and store multiple types of data is something I really needed, and the flexibility and support for its integration capabilities with different systems makes it much more first choise db.

I like the compatibility and flexibility that EDB Postgres AI Database offers because our team can work with familiar processes and workflows while gaining stronger capabilities around performance, scalability, and database management. It makes it easier to support different application workloads without having to completely change our existing database approach. The compatibility with PostgreSQL is invaluable as our team already has experience with it, so we don't have to learn an entirely new database ecosystem. The focus on enterprise reliability, scalability, and additional features like high availability, performance optimization, and security enhances its practicality for enterprise use. I also appreciate how it integrates easily with our existing development tools and cloud infrastructure.

One area that could be improved is the learning curve around some of the most advanced enterprise features. What I’ve liked about EDB is how familiar the overall experience feels if you already work with PostgreSQL. It doesn’t come across as learning an entirely new system, yet you still get much better visibility into what’s going on with your databases. Being able to monitor performance, catch potential issues early, and manage different instances without constantly switching between multiple tools is genuinely useful. It makes day-to-day database work more convenient, especially when you’re dealing with multiple environments. Overall, it feels practical instead of overly complicated, and that’s probably what I appreciate most about it.

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres AI Database?**

One thing I found slightly challenging with EDB is that it can feel like more than you need for simpler PostgreSQL setups. There are a lot of capabilities to take in, and getting comfortable with the additional tooling can take time, especially if you’re coming from a standard PostgreSQL environment. The overall cost can also be a factor for smaller teams, where many of the enterprise features may not be used on a regular basis. I’d also like to see a more guided experience for some of the advanced AI and analytics capabilities, so users can get started without spending too much time sorting through the different options and configurations.

I like that EDB Postgres AI Database is stable and easy to work with. Once it's set up, it runs reliably without needing constant attention. Since it's based on PostgreSQL, it's familiar and works well with many tools, so getting started isn't difficult. The performance has been good for our day-to-day work, and features like backup, security, and replication give us confidence that our data is safe. Overall, it's a dependable database that just gets the job done without creating extra headaches.

I use EDB for PostgreSQL to store data like reports, workflows, and user information at work. I appreciate how it's easy to deploy and offers options to self-manage in many ways. Some of the best things about EDB for PostgreSQL include the tools to handle and integrate data, its excellent uptime and performance, and the fact that it is secure out of the box. I especially like its easy deployment and the tools available for use.

We of course need to go through the documentation to set it up but that's just fine. Nothing much of trouble had to go through the setup process.

Built-in vector storage for AI workloads , pgvector support for similarity search, integration with LLMs and embedding models. High availability and query optimization and ldap authentication, and not the least managing cloud services on AWS, gcp and azure.

Expensive licensing cost , not cost effective for smaller projects. AI feature not as mature as purpose built AI databases

From a Data Analyst's perspective, I don't use many of EDB's enterprise-specific features such as Oracle compatibility or database administration tools. Most of my day-to-day work relies on standard PostgreSQL SQL, so I don't get to leverage all of EDB's capabilities.
