My company was looking for a self-hosted document generation products that would work well in our AWS landing zone and integrate with our 3rd party systems. Docmosis Tornado has proven fast, reliability, and ability to handle complex formatting and high-volume document creation. A key benefit is its flexibility, as it can be deployed on Windows, Linux, and via Docker. The vendor provides a Docker image to simplify the setup process, bundling necessary dependencies like Java and LibreOffice, which users find to be a straightforward way to get up and running quickly for testing or deployment. While there is some learning curve for advanced features, I find this product is generally a strong choice for businesses like ours that prefer to keep document generation on their own infrastructure and integrate it with their custom applications via a REST API. The PDF templates using LibreOffice document templates can bring some limitations of normal Word applications compared to other templates like Crystal Reports, Quest, etc. However, the change in template formats is easily adaptable so not something that would hold me back from recommending the product.
