"Great UI with lot of features"
5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

Linux-based Disk Station Manager comes with a lot of features like backup, cloud, streaming, etc. we can access our data anywhere from DDNS, QUICKCONNECT also very secure to use, and no data loss as it comes with raid types and all Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

Disk Stations are very costly and if they have hardware some issue after the warranty is over. Synology does not have a repair center nor does it make or sell parts for old units still to attempt to repair them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful system with user-friendly UI, good for SME"
4.5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

The Diskstation UI contains all the core features we'd expect from a complete "self-hosted" cloud system or NAS, wrapped up in an excellent UI, that I can ask non-technical members of our team to deploy and use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

Performance depends a lot on the hardware that it's deployed on. Older systems really lag; the fancy GUI needs a fair bit of horsepower to feel smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Synology DiskStation for Network Backup"
4.5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

Very dependable devices.

The web-based operating system is well designed, clean and not cluttered with unnecessary features and bloatware.

Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) allows you to build an array out of disks of varying sizes while utilizing the full capacity of all drives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

In the past, Synologys low budget offering was somewhat underpowered and lacked features, compared with their competition. For example, other brands would give you two NICs on even their lowest price units, while Synology came with one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Synology NAS is super easy to connect and manage the resources. Current update also made the GUI more likely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

All things are good about Synology for me. No comments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A solidly built OS on solid hardware"
4.5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

Synology is a nice blend of price and performance. It's not the cheapest but not the most expensive; it's not the fastest but it's no slouch. It's a great mix of stuff that 'just works' with an excellent user community and widespread support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

The advent of 'certified' drives being the only things compatible is vexing. Thankfully they at least backed down and allow 'untested' hardware so that you don't specifically have to purchase from them and only them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Server, much more than just NAS"
5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

We initially purchased it as NAS, we wanted a fast way to store and share files in our office and store daily backups of all our computers. And it works flawlessly. You can create as many shared folders as you like, you get granular control of user's permissions, and you can securely access your NAS from outside your network. We now also use it as a chat server (Synology chat is like slack, but you own it) and to host Synology's productivity apps (like Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets, without the surveillance and selling of our personal information). What do you dislike about DiskStation?

Setting it up took as about a day (we are a small company without an IT Department), so it could be a bit friendlier towards the non-technical administrator. It has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it can do wonders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent value for price. Robust on site storage."
4.5/5
What do you like best about DiskStation?

They have all features you'll need. They are forward-thinking and include things like the ability to sign a cert with Let's Encrypt so that browsers will not warn you of unsigned or self-signed certs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

The processor on each device is a little light for what all the device does; this makes some processes a little slower than I would like. Along that line, some things like virus scanning are slower than expected, but not bad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
