"This has saved me many many hours over the years!"
What do you like best about Direct Mail for Mac?

Super easy to use! It's all very intuitive. I absolutely love the fact that all of my customer information is syncing all of the time.

If you own a Mac, run your own business, and email clients or customers, you need to try this out! I did this long ago and I’m so pleased that I did. It has saved me many hours of work over the years!

I absolutely hate to repeat steps once they’ve already been accomplished. As an example, if I update someone’s email address I don’t want to go change and update it in multiple locations, that’s a complete waste of time! Once it’s done, it’s done ✅ I love the fact that I can change a customers email address on my iPhone or computer or iPad at anytime and know that the next time I send out a group email that everyone’s going to get it.

I have used other email marketing platforms before and it’s such a pain in the … to have to go and update a simple email change in multiple locations! Auto syncing client information is just one small benefit of using Direct Mail Mac! Trust me there’s a lot more also.

Check it out, it’s well worth my 50 cents a day to use it!

Have a great day, Brent

"Better than web-based solutions"
What do you like best about Direct Mail for Mac?

Composing well-designed emails is so much faster and flexible than on web-based solutions (the other system I use frequently is Campaign Monitor, so that’s my point of reference for comparison). Each email you create has a small bar at the top with these options: Choose template; Colors & Fonts; Insert Content. All you have to do is use them in sequence, from left to right, to create a clean, professional-looking email. You can figure it out in minutes and the documentation and support are very good.

Everything in the interface is quick and reliable. There are some very nice advanced features, but you never feel overwhelmed or confused by them — they are a click away but they don’t get in the way of the baseline features you need most frequently.

We mostly work off preset templates, but you can import HTML and edit the source code as needed. We have done this before with email that was previously sent from other platforms and needed to be quickly ported to Direct Mail.

Attachments can be added, which is a feature you don’t usually find in web-based solutions. My colleagues in PR use Direct Mail to dispatch press releases to media contacts in various languages. The only hiccup they’ve encountered is with filenames written in Arabic, but renaming them in Latin characters was a quick fix.

Being able to save documents in the cloud and assign various levels of access to colleagues has been very useful for us.

You can “undo” everything, even mailing list imports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct Mail for Mac?

In one specific scenario (which unfortunately comes up a lot with us), updating a DMM list based on an external file is not as easy as it should be. Let's say you have a list in DMM containing three columns: email addresses, names, and countries. You get an updated .csv list from another application, containing two "columns:" the same email addresses and updated countries for some of them. When you merge that into DMM list, you end up with blank names. In other words, columns you provide are updated; columns you do not provide are _deleted_. I wish the latter would be left intact.

Since our mailing list is big (around 30,000 addresses with multiple custom fields) and we receive updates from different departments and applications, this is a bit of a headache for us. We are using workarounds, but as a reference, the way Campaign Monitor implements mailing list updates is much better for our particular case.

(To be fair, we have never described this issue to the developers or made any feature requests.)

That is the only thing I would ask to improve. Everything else is excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Used this product for several years, and it's well worth the money"
What do you like best about Direct Mail for Mac?

Direct Mail is very easy to use, and very reliable. We send several newsletters a week; each project has the option to use on the local desktop and/or sync with the cloud. Integrates nicely with most of our business apps. I can't say enough about their Tech Support team--Ryan in particular is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct Mail for Mac?

Future scheduling could contain a few more prompts. And any previously-set "future schedule" should be removed from the next blast (for some reason, it retains the last-set "Schedule" setting rather than returning to the default setting of Send Now). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great option for the right sized communication campaign."
What do you like best about Direct Mail for Mac?

We use Direct Mail for some particular purposes. One is sending information to the press through specific and curated press lists for events we produce. Another is for communication with classes and workshops we organize. It provides the perfectly scaled solution for small to medium-sized lists where the content is essential, direct, and benefits from a lack of clutter for me and for those with who we are communicating. All the features we want are easy to access and in focus. The reporting is also clean and easy to leverage for easy follow-up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct Mail for Mac?

Sync has dramatically improved over the last couple of years, though this used to be a little frustrating. The only other and current issue is that sometimes formatting does copy and paste well, so I'll often compose and style text directly or copy it into the program as plain text. "A Great, Easy to Use, Inexpensive Mailing List Program"
What do you like best about Direct Mail for Mac?

Very easy to learn and use. Powerful enough for my use - not bloated with too many features. Decent block editor. Great realtime report feature. Low cost (one cent per email at my level of volume). Multiple lists, easy to import and export via CSV files. I feel in control - not confounded by too many details I don't understand. Fast delivery (typically in seconds). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Direct Mail for Mac?

Because it is not #1 or #2 in the marketplace, software like Shopify does not directly connect, so I had to use zaps to connect. But then, I had to use zaps to connect to my forms on my wordpress site, as well, because I wanted to create bettern forms. The block editor could use more features, but once you understand it, it is quite useable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
