## About DexGuard
Full spectrum protection for Android apps. With extensive Android app obfuscation & security protocols, DexGuard provides the most comprehensive mobile app protection available. Secure your Android apps & SDKs through multiple layers of code hardening & RASP. The DexGuard NDK add-on extends all the protection offered by DexGuard — including multi-layered Android app code obfuscation., data obfuscation and RASP integration — to included C/C++ native libraries. DexGuard generates a Protection Report for each mobile app build that incorporates its protections. This report validates and assesses the applied protections, grading your app’s security configuration against key risk categories, providing further recommendations to improve security efficacy and surfacing potentially beneficial features to activate. When upgrading from ProGuard (or R8) to DexGuard, you can re-use your existing ProGuard configuration file. All you need to do is account for DexGuard’s additional functionality, including its RASP and obfuscation capabilities.

**What do you like best about DexGuard?**

DexGuard’s combination of advanced code obfuscation, encryption, and runtime application self-protection (RASP) provides powerful defense against reverse engineering and tampering. I particularly appreciate its seamless integration with Jenkins and Android Studio, making it easy to automate protection during CI/CD. The runtime security checks for root detection, emulator detection, debugger blocking, and real-time threat response have helped us proactively secure sensitive enterprise apps without performance overhead.

**What do you dislike about DexGuard?**

While the product is excellent, the initial learning curve was steep, especially when configuring more advanced runtime security policies. The official documentation could be more detailed with end-to-end DevSecOps pipeline examples. Additionally, integrating DexGuard with older legacy Android builds required additional support time.

**What problems is DexGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DexGuard helps prevent reverse engineering, tampering, code injection, and unauthorized debugging of our Android applications. It also provides real-time protection against runtime attacks like root detection and dynamic instrumentation. This has significantly reduced our mobile application security risk and improved our compliance posture for data-sensitive enterprise apps. Automating these protections into our CI/CD pipelines has reduced manual security reviews, improving our release speed without compromising security.

**What do you like best about DexGuard?**

DexGuard provides top-tier protection for Android apps, especially against reverse engineering and tampering. What I like most is the way it integrates into our CI/CD pipeline without disrupting our existing build process. The obfuscation, encryption, and runtime protection features are highly configurable, giving us control over how deep the protection goes for each app. The documentation is detailed and practical, and it’s clear that security is the core focus.

The initial learning curve is steep—especially for developers new to secure coding or code obfuscation. Some configuration files are overly sensitive, and even minor missteps can break the build. Support is responsive, but resolution for highly technical issues can be slow. Pricing can also be a concern for smaller teams, as it’s clearly positioned more for enterprise-level deployments.

DexGuard is helping us protect our mobile applications from reverse engineering, tampering, and piracy. As someone who is using DexGuard, I find it to be an excellent security solution for my Android app. It effectively protects my app's data and code, giving me confidence in its security and reliability. The customer support is also awesome. They are easy to reach out to.

No Cons as of now. It is super effective.

Off the bat, I would say that there isn't much or anything I didn't like about DexGuard. It served it's purpose when I needed it and left little to be desired

For my use case, my team needed DexGuard to obfuscate our project code that dealt with financial information. This was essential to guard against future reverse engineering that could have cost us a great deal

What i personally like most is DexGuard effectively obfuscates code, making it challenging for reverse engineers to understand and tamper with the application.

**What do you dislike about DexGuard?**

Not that i dislike it but some developers may find DexGuard challenging to configure initially (not in my case) and there could be a learning curve for those new to the tool. Additionally, the licensing cost could be a consideration for smaller development teams.

As i described before, DexGuard effectively obfuscates code, making it challenging for reverse engineers to understand and tamper with the application.

DexGuard gives me a full visibility of the end user activity, network performance, system performance and code issue.

Took some time to create a custom dashboard having all applications in one dashboard.

It gave me incredibly detailed metrics allowing me to zone in right to the actual problem itself on a code line level.

It helps us protect our android apps. It makes your android apps secure and safe from impact from outside.It hides their app's code, keeps important data safe, and checks if the app is on a safe device.

Dexguard is complex to understand.
It can be challenging for some deelopers but the results are great

It helps us protect our mobile apps' code secure from outside stealers. It detects if there is any tampering in to the code. Very important tool if you need protect the ownership of the mobile app you have develped.

Reduction of App size using shrinking and optimization techniques
The best thing about Dexguard is that each app build has a different obfuscation configuration.

**What do you dislike about DexGuard?**

The only downside I see is the Price because similar app optimizers are available in the market which are open/free source.

**What problems is DexGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since it is specially designed for Android apps to protect and optimize, we use this for our Mobile App to prevent threat actors from tampering with apps at runtime and each build features checks in different locations.

The only downfall I would say would be the pricing. There are plenty of other options out there that are free. Other than that there isn't anything else I didn't like about DexGuard.

The enhanced security for a business phone eases my mind, there are many high-level emails on my phone regarding projects that have NDA's.

DexGuard is not free you have to purchase,It's not an affordable application.
