Its easy to integrate into our current pipelines and to set up and modify. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** Detectify offers a variety of advantages; however, there are certain aspects where enhancements could be made. A significant limitation is its inadequate support for GraphQL, especially concerning mutations and queries.There is a lack of clarity regarding the outcomes of spidering. That meant a lot to get us started and really offloading our internal teams. The UI is very intuitive and easy to view (we don't yet use the API), reports are good. Also was easy to setup stuff like automated login for the scanner, SSO for users etc. We also use tagging a lot. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** Not much bad to say about it really, but also I'm not the dev triaging it. Very easy to setup and maintain, which of course was the purpose of why were looking for a hosted scanner. We had tried Qualys and Intruder.io and both of those tools take forever to configure and it should not take that time. Detectify is super easy to use. One email and we were working. The Chrome add-on for the login credentials is a great plus. Scanning for vulnerabilities and the reports are excellent. Furthermore, it takes absolutely no time to get it configured. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** The UI interface is simple, but sometimes it is a little bit confusing when browsing from and to the scan results. Sometimes it is not clear if a scan is running because you do not have any indication that the scan is going on. You can only see that on the Scan page. When a vulnerability is fixed, the system does not recognize this in the following scan. It keeps it in history. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** If you need an easy-to-use and configure tool for scanning, this is your tool. You will be working and fixing things in no time. We started using this tool thanks to an online review, and we did not have high hopes, but it has been quite reliable and great to use. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We required an easy-to-use tool so we could check our sites for vulnerabilities. Detectify has proven perfect. Deep scan is really reliable and it has helped us fix some medium and minor risks we had. Easy way to configure a new site to the platform using a DNS record or textfile. Deep Scan results are very detailed and usefull for improvement, It even gives information for fixes of the security problems. You can start deepscans every moment you like. It provides rates to security issues which I can message to my clients so they can decide if they would fix the problem. The visual interface is straightforward to use without technical knowledge. During scans it shows the status on a very understandable (graphical) way, so you always know what the status of a scan is. If it keeps my client happy on a easy way, it keeps me happy. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** No auto detection for WordPress so it automatically detects old versions. I would suggest support for the most used frameworks like WordPress, Magento... That would help much people in their daily projects. Sometimes deep scans takes long (more then 4 hours) to complete, there may be some performance improvements possible. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** Beneficial improvements for your websites, which you can easily export and send to your client. Good tips about improvements and even gives non-security-related tips about your website. I would recommend Detectify Deep Scan, especially for scheduled tests, so you can keep your sites updated without taking too much time. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** I mostly solve cross site scripting issues which not have been fixed during development traject. Most likely 'forgotten' input fields or whatever. Also fixing problems regarding to usage of third party scripts (iframes). Also I can just give my clients PDF exports of the problems which they can read before we fix the problem. That way they are always up-to-date to fixes we do on their websites. ### 17. It was easy to implement and easy to run tests. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** It did end up creating a long list of fake accounts in our system, along with a sizeable amount of other ugly data when authenticated. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** In the past, we've used bounties to help find issues and vulnerabilities with our sites. The responses come sporadically and have to be validated. Detectify is more convenient and allows us to check for thoroughness at any point we choose -- we don't have to wait for others to find issues for us. ### 18. After our initial PoC, we could seamlessly continue to use Detectify. Possibility to perform authenticated scans with TOTP based multi-factor authentication (needs setup via support or customer success team). Detectify was the only solution which besides the deep scan (general web app scanning) provides asset monitoring which autonomously scans your configured apex domains for issues without the need to configure all of your (many) subdomains. With other application scanners you would need a separate tool to perform this kind of "footprint monitoring". Detectify was the only solution that uses a crowdsource community. All other scanner vendors create their rules only by themselves. Very helpful and open team to address new features and functionality. Some features we requested were implemented a couple of weeks later. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** API functionality is a little behind what the UI offers. This is only relevant if you want to use the API, for example for scripts. At the moment no option to "work" on findings within the UI, such as leaving a comment for another colleague like a developer. For us this is not a real problem because we export all findings into a work item tracking tool. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** If you are looking for a very easy setup and use web application security scanning solution Detectify is a very good choice. Not only can you scan web apps in depth but you can also get all your configured domains automatically crawled for subdomains and scanned for security issues. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Detectify allows us to efficiently perform continuous scans on our defined applications with "deep scan" profiles and at the same time we can monitor our external footprint with "asset monitoring" which does not require any administration or maintenance. If a new subdomain is used, Detectify will automatically identify it and start scanning it. Before Detectify we performed such scans with tools like OWASP ZAP. This required much more time to perform the scans and also later create readable reports. Detectify does everything automatically and provides actionable findings with descriptions about the issues, CVSS rating and explanations on how to fix the issue. ### 20. The scan itself took a long time (about 7 hours), but I was very pleased to see all of the vulnerabilities laid out clearly and ranked by severity. As a nonprofit organization where I am the only person managing the website, this is a game-changer in terms of securing our web presence. The Deep Scan showed vulnerabilities that I never would have known about without it. I also appreciate that each vulnerability links to more information, giving me the best possible chance to fix these issues on my own. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** I had a little trouble getting verified at the beginning and the instructions weren't very helpful on how to use a DNS text record (more specifically, I didn't know to use "@" under host so it wasn't working properly). Maybe that is because the target audience should already know how to do this? I'm not a developer (although I do have some programming experience), so I'm not 100% certain I will be able to make all of the necessary changes. I could see that being an issue for other organizations that lack a person with any technical know-how. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** Detectify will help you identify potential areas where your website is vulnerable, but you will likely need a developer or security expert to help implement the needed fixes. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using the vulnerability report to research ways to make our website more secure. Our website has been hacked many times over the past year, and Detectify allows me to clearly see where the potential problems are. These are issues that I would not have been able to identify on my own. ### 22. When running a scan, it makes tens of thousands of requests on our servers. The simplicity how it works and the many checks that are done when performing a deep scan. Very light weight and very good. The interface is very intuitive and there are many many integrations possible with Trello, E-mail, Jira, opsGenie, Paperduty, Zapier, webhooks, splunk, now, API **What do you dislike about Detectify?** It's not possible to create teams when not having the enterprise subscription. This ends up in a problem that every single team member is emailed when a scan is finished. That's not needed at all. It would be very nice to have this as a key feature in all the subscriptions. Beside that it is now impossible to add a client user in the team because he can see all of the other scan results as well. This is not very nice and it would also therefore be nice that Teams will be a default feature. For us this was the only reason to question the use of Detectify. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** When you are searching for a lean and mean vulnerability scanner, this is a good pick. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** With Detectify we are able to scan more often, liken in daily, now without high hireing a high cost pen-tester each time. When it comes to reporting, the tool groups the findings very well, makes it very easy to navigate. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** Difficult to change subdomains/profiles to scan. All subdomains of a domain should be included in the profile, because it shouldn't matter whether a website puts their content on www.example.com/application1 or application1.example.com. It would have been great if it was possible to download a log of all requests sent. That way it would be easier to troubleshoot and use the tool for further manual pentesting. Would be great if Detectify was a little bit more tunable. There are little configuration options compared to other tools in the market. A more advanced configuration should be possible where one can tune. **Recommendations to others considering Detectify:** First you need to find your assets, although Detectify has a web monitoring tool and port scan functionality its main focus is web application scanning. You first need to find all your web applications to load into the tools, with other tools that focus on recon. **What problems is Detectify solving and how is that benefiting you?** Detectify reduces the risk of web application vulnerabilities being undetected in seamless way. It saves time compared to many other tools because it has little amount of false positives. This wouldn't have worked with a more static type of tool; our ecosystem is quite dynamic and evolves rapidly as well as being expansive. Detectify really provides a good solution for this; it's straightforward to integrate with DNS, broad enough to provide a really valuable set of insights and dynamic enough to track change over time. Detectify is also able to translate complex security issues into very straightforwards and easy to understand problems. As our organisation has team members with all sorts of different levels of maturity in information security, having something easy to understand and action is a must. **What do you dislike about Detectify?** The big challenge with any tool is signal-to-noise ratio. Because Detectify captures so much, it can sometimes be challenging to see what is relevant versus what is less so. That said, Detectify naturally applies an intuitive threat score as well as prioritisation of impact of issues it finds from high through to information.
