## ThinkUp! Reviews
  ### 1. A Key to Success

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martha O. | Instructional Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

Questions were always right on target for our TEKS, but Think Up! added the writing component....many more open ended opportunities for the students to share their thinking!!! And with the new structure of our state testing, many more opportunities to explore open-ended questions are provided.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

Very little.....lessons are so comprehensive....almost too much if I could complain about anything.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This system gives us a foundation for all types of problem solving. It allows the students the scaffolding they need to build their problem solving capacity. The 2 step problems are my favorites! It breaks down the types of problems and allows students of varying abilities to scaffold learning.

  ### 2. Tyner's Review of TUMs!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mrs. T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

NRJH is not using the newest platform of Mentoring Math, but I LOVE the book. I like the questions that are asked and the notes page is a great way for kids to see things in a different way then maybe the way I said it. I love starting off with the student friendly TEKs!!!!

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I have not found too many items that I do not know like. I wish we had access to the new platform, but my school district did not buy it. I hate the fact that I do not have the same access I had last year. I HATE the flip book.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkUp!:**

I love it.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am seeing an increase in problem solving with my students!!!

  ### 3. Love the Books Not the Website

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I like how it goes well with my state's standards. I love the complexity of the questions. The books are great. I have used Mentoring Minds in the past and have found it easy to use the online teacher and student editions, and I have made assignments.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

There are too many things to click on to simply look at a page or assign something for my students. Everything seems to be crammed into one place. It is very complicated and frustrating. I usually give up and exit the program. As much as I love the actual book, it is so disappointing to know that the website is not user friendly at all. If I need something online I use another resource.
You need to have a site that's a lot less complicated. Everything does not need to be on the first page. It is a website after all. I would recommend visiting other sites like iReady Math and Reading.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkUp!:**

This resource goes along well with my state's standards and offers a wide variety of challenging problems.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have not tried the online part of the program with my students this year. I use the books almost daily. I love the variety of questions and the progression of the lessons. This is basically my math book for my students.

  ### 4. Think Up Math his great for spiral review!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I have liked using this as a spiral review in the middle of the week. My students have not yet done the online component, but they will on Thursday and I'm sure they will love it!

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I would like to be able to see for sure what I am assigning without having to look from a students online version. It was hard for me to see if I was assigning the correct page in the book to the online users. I would like to be able to see the way it looks like on their end as well.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkUp!:**

So far, it has been a good book to use in small groups and for Intervention and Enrichment activities.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thinkup Math is helping my students through intervening activities that align to our state standards. These questions are similar to test questions that students might see on their End of Grade test.

  ### 5. Think Up provides a great amount of rigor for my students.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa D. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I like the organization of the workbooks. I like that it teaches students to be critical thinkers and includes many important life skills.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

It could be more bright and colorful to catch the attention of my students. I also do not like the online/virtual work that has been created for 2nd grade. It isn't very user friendly.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I realized that it has made my students better critical thinkers and has prepared them for the state assessments.

  ### 6. One of my campus's top resources!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

We use Think Up for Math, Reading, and Writing in grades 3-5. We like the alignment to the TX standards (TEKS) and the variety and complexity of questions and passages.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

We would like to have some shorter reading passages in the reading practice so they could be completed in a shorter period of time. Maybe 6-8 questions instead of 12.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkUp!:**

This product provides a variety of practice and assessment items aligned to curriculum standards. The lessons provide a direct teach, practice component, and independent checks.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to prepare our students for success on the STAAR assessment as well as track their mastery of the TEKS standards. Think Up allows us to do both.

THe page numbers no longer match the teachers addition

Use this after concepts have been taught to further deepen students thinking for the standards.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving real world math problems - the benefits is being able to create lists of what we need to know to solve the problem. Students are really having to think!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I like the different engage activity teachers can use in the classroom, besides the great questions.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

The large amount of teacher editions sent with the student bundles. In a middle school, we have 2-3 teacher teaching content so, 13-15 teacher editions become clutter and eventually trash.

**Recommendations to others considering ThinkUp!:**

I need my teachers to see it in action with other campuses because they are skeptical is using all the components.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The different word problems given are higher order with academic vocabulary aligned with grade level standards, so this allows for our students to make connections with real life scenarios while keeping up with academic language.

At times, I struggle since I teach kindergarten to apply all of the resources for this specific grade level

Problems that we solve for kindergarten revolve around place value and the benefits of a visual in. virtual learning is priceless.

Math, Science, and ELAR. The standards are well presented and aligned to the TEKS.

  ### 18. Think Up ELAR & Math

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2021

The activities for Reading and Math are grade-appropriate for 3rd Grade. I really like the pre-assessments and in the ELAR, I love the Editing/Revising activies.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

The web-site is cumbersome and difficult to learn. I also would like the option to have paper copies to teach in person &/or virtual, then allow students to complete online activities.

**Reviewed by:** Ashley D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I love that teach lesson has different sections, so the students can work towards mastery and then show their knowledge! I think the challenge questions at the end of each lesson are great and cause the students to think up or outside the box!

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

On the teacher side, assigning lesson would be easier if it were just clicks through the teacher port.

It would be amazing to have educational videos or ways to show students how to solve the problems as a precursor to using the lessons.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I love the ability to assign small chunks of questions because there are many pre-assessments and guided questions in each unit. You truly have the ability to track performance in order to attain mastery of the content.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I am still learning the new platform. I need additional time and use in order too if there are flaws that might need improvement.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy access for students with our Clever single sign-on. We do not waste time with students searching for their assignments. I love that students can filter their assignments by class. This is a major improvement from the older version of the platform.

  ### 24. Great for students who need that extra help

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I like the guided lessons. As a Resource teacher I only have my students for a short period of time and to be able to just jump in and go each day is wonderful. I also the like the focus on strategies and how they continue from lesson to lesson.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I have not found really anything I do not like. It is minor but just a touch of color or a few more pictures to go with the stories.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ThinkUp reading and math not only for extra support but also for after school tutoring. We needed a method to be able to tutor multiple grades of students using various teachers with out having to create an entirely new plan. We can mix and match teachers without losing time to figure out what we are doing.

  ### 25. Quality Piece

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

It gives me the opportunity to address specific standards for specific individuals and target my lessons to be as individually tailored as possible.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

Nothing, I am quite happy with the program.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program helps me to specifically target individuals with individual problems that address their weaknesses or strength if they need to be accelerated. That is a valuable tool for me as an educator.

  ### 26. ThinkUp! is a great tool for me to use during my small group instruction.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2020

**What do you like best about ThinkUp!?**

I like that it gives students the ability to practice the skill before assessing, and I also like that they are answering critical thinking questions as they go.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I do not like that there are so many critical thinking questions for each lesson. Maybe if each lesson focused on one or two critical thinking questions it would not be as time consuming. The summative assessment could cover all of the critical thinking elements instead.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a curriculum to use aligned with my state standards for my higher group in reading and ELA. I have realized that students can use the ThinkUp! Online program as a practice before working in my group to "set the stage" for the standard we are focusing on for the week.

I love that our students are challenged with high levels of questions that stretch their thinking beyond right-there answers.

**What do you dislike about ThinkUp!?**

I wish there was a printable version rather than re-ordering the books each year.

**What problems is ThinkUp! solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting our students used to seeing "hard" questions without the teachers having to create them on their own is a big benefit.

  ### 32. ThinkUP! is a great resource that provides the rigor that our students need.
