I find the shortcut keys exceptionally useful (except F1 - help* see below), the most used are: F2 Zoom in F3 Zoom out F4 Zoom to objects F9 Full screen preview. **What do you dislike about CorelDRAW?** I dislike the fact that CorelDraw is windows only and I am forced to run a VM on my mac. I would really like Corel to create an app for the iPad that has all of the main features of CorelDraw, especially the nudge, because moving things accurately on the iPad is a pain in the rear portions. F1 for Help, drives me crazy. For a 2D design program, it has served me well as a way to create files to laser-cut and do some minor CNC work. While it is a very complex program with lots of bells and whistles, careful study and practice will really pay off. **What do you dislike about CorelDRAW?** The program's complexity is a two-edged sword. It requires a decent amount of skill to even begin learning the program, let alone become proficient with it. It's rewarding to say the least, but can often be frustrating to learn and a classroom teacher, I have seen my fair share of students have great difficulty in the initial stages of learning. **Recommendations to others considering CorelDRAW:** CorelDRAW is rife with 2D design features for a number of different operations. I primarily used it to create vector graphic files for use with a laser cutter, and it did so very well. Our company gives us Dell Core i3 computers with 4GB ram and integrated video but it seems to slow to a crawl without additional ram and a dedicated video card. Sometimes the program crashes because there's not enough memory. Sometimes when you import a dxf file, too many layers are created which make your file size too big. Wheter it is a logo design, a brochure or a product visualization panel, te basic tools that I always end up using are Guides/Saps, B-splines, Tracer, Shape tool, SmartFill and Transparency tool. Everthing could be done just with those tools. **What do you dislike about CorelDRAW?** Though it has become better over the years, the Paragraph Text tool and Hypenation could be improved. Creating repetivive circular patters is a pain, there should be a parametric pattern/array tool. The most important feature is flexibility, you can design a monochromatic logo, trace an image, use mesh fill and transparency effects to illustrate and paint a hyper realistic portrait, or compose a 100 page magazine, proof colors and export a prepress ready PDF. After years of using Corel (Since version 4) I have never been able to get the color on screen to match the CMYK out put color accurately. I started working on PC with Corel Draw in the first advertising agency where I worked, because it was a cheaper solution than a Mac and Adobe package. Reluctant at first, but I began to realize that despite having a more "ugly" interface than its competitors, Corel was (and is) a very intuitive and user-friendly software, with a very fast learning curve. Furthermore, as it was a software specially for PCs (despite the mac version), it was optimized for the use of the two buttons of the mouse, and with a click it is faster to assign colors, align objects, as well as cut or join objects. Besides, being a very powerful vectorial drawing tool, Corel Draw already allowed to use multiple pages years before Illustrator, which allowed to ilustrate, create logos, page design and layout, in one program. Even my fellow designers who were loyal to the Mac and Illustrator were convinced by Corel. Now it evens allow to build web pages. These days I use more Illustrator, but still use Corel Draw because it continues to be the easiest software to work in vector freehand drawings. **What do you dislike about CorelDRAW?** Since Corel 11, all the versions of Corel became more unstable. The program has gained a lot more features, but with them appeared more program failures crashes and export problems, etc. It has also some problems importing some files, especially Adobe CS files. For example, if the .ai files are compressed, it is not possible to import to Corel. **Recommendations to others considering CorelDRAW:** I think Corel should go back to basic.
