**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

The customer service at Concept 3D is stellar. Every team member has always gone above and beyond with every request; we often find more enhancements than we request; the employees are always kind-hearted, helpful, responsive, and resourceful. Even when our contact is on vacation, someone is always ready to jump right up to the plate to take requests. 

Of course, the Maps are stunning, too; a team of talented artists, developers, and support have created a  masterpiece showcasing our lovely campus. I am always amazed how Concept 3D navigates through all of our intelligible notes, CAD drawings, and images, they all make our campus look more amazing than it does in person most of the year. January is about the only time it is so green. :-)

There's been a number of enhancements added like "Dynamic Labels 2", dynamic labels were already a step above the original method. This new version allows for so much flexibility. I've added just the bldg. numbers as the abbreviations, with the full names for the details. I also distributed our labels to multiple levels, labels appear more general when zoomed out, while zooming in the labels get far more in-depth. I really appreciate being able to have labels in other categories, such as custom labels for specific events.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

Nothing, except I have come to expect this high level of support from our other vendors.

No dislikes. Our Client Success Manager, Dan and newly assigned Nikki is ALWAYS prompt to seek solutions to any issues we find, always eager to assisting in comprehending tutorials and more. They always make me feel like I am a VIP. 

I love that Concept 3D has zoom conferences through the year on a variety of topics, accessibility as well as their various products and product updates. These are really valuable sessions. 

I haven't tried it yet, although I love that Concept 3D has new office hours where you can sign up for extra help, less formal format. 

Our campus map is ALWAYS evolving.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Navigating our college campus is difficult due to major construction projects at the heart of the campus. There are very few accessible paths, even inaccessible paths, to traverse. With the ease of overlays, the campus map can be updated in minutes or updates scheduled in advance. Our campus map is so much more than a campus map, it is also a historical archive to historical photos, locations to memorials, dedication plaques, art installations, and numerous overlays for specific events on campus.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Concept3D is very user-friendly — no coding skills or extensive mapping knowledge are required. Its content management system is intuitive, and the front end is simple for users to navigate. The platform has a short onboarding curve, making it easy to train stakeholders. The online resources are informative, and the Concept3D team supporting UCLA has been proactive, approachable, and always ready to assist.

The ability to quickly customize content and branding makes it easy to keep information accurate and relevant. It has streamlined how we share campus information, saving time and reducing technical barriers. Feedback from stakeholders has been very positive, with many noting how much easier it is to access and interact with campus maps and resources. Concept3D continues to be a reliable and innovative partner for UCLA.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The wayfinding functionality requires routes to be drawn manually, which becomes tedious for a campus the size of UCLA. A network dataset integration would be far more efficient, especially for handling temporary closures like construction.

Bulk uploads only support point data, not polygons (construction zones) or polylines (ADA routes).

Data export works for point data, but not for construction or ADA data, which means we need to maintain data in both our internal database and Concept3D separately, essentially duplicating effort.

The pop-up format cannot be updated in bulk. If a change is needed for a category, each pop-up must be updated individually, which is time-consuming.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Concept3D is helping us shift from a centralized data management model to a more collaborative one. Previously, our team was responsible for maintaining all data layers, which was time-consuming and created bottlenecks. With Concept3D, stakeholders now take ownership of their own data, updating it directly on the map.

This has led to a shared collaboration model where information is more accurate, current, and relevant. By empowering stakeholders to manage their own content, the platform reduces the maintenance burden on our team while ensuring the data stays up to date for end users.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Concept 3d makes making map updates very easy.  In addition to doing one off map updates, they also offer bulk upload capability if you are doing a significant amount of updates.  Finally,  if your business or university is making significant updates during the year, they offer a maintenance package that allows for updates to processed each month.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

There isn't really anything I dislike about Concept3D.  Though there is one "gotcha,"  the managed updates contract only covers making changes to existing buildings, not building out new ones.  That wasn't clearly spelled out in their documentation but wasn't an issue for us, just something to keep in mind as we add new buildings to our campus.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are so many things that the maps system from Concept3D can do.  It is very flexible and we find that the maps are used very often. We were able to build self guided walking tours that utilized the map system.  The other great thing that their software helped solve was door to door walking instructions between buildings. Concept3D is focused on ensuring that their customers can do as much as possible,  the latest change is their tansition to dynamic labels,  and then taking the feedback from that and creating dynamic labels 2.0  which allows for stacking the labels and deciding order of display.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

I feel that the rendering is high quality and effectively communicates the expectations of the campus architecture and landscapes. I enjoy the layout and organization of all the tools, and utilizing the backend dashboard is intuitive and thorough.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

I wish using vectors had more flexibility and ease of use. I wish certain features were not behind paywalls, such as the use of popups. I would enjoy more opportunities to connect and collaborate with other Concept3D users, specifically others in the higher ed field. I would like more available features in regards to SSD, specifically word maps, sounding devices, and directional and location beacons for those who are blind or have low vision. I wish there was better ways to resolve node overlapping.

Concept3D is helping our students navigate our campus while also reducing their use of printed collateral. This benefits our mission at the Department of Digital Transformation at remaining eco-conscious and working towards a more complete digital presence.

OSU’s interactive map is a unique tool for wayfinding, transit, and campus exploration. The platform, powered by Concept3D, is easy to use, feature-rich, and provides an engaging experience for our community and prospective students. The customer support team is amazing, and quarterly check-ins ensure our ongoing success.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The product is strong and easy to use, but the wayfinding functionality could be improved. Routes don’t always mention nearby or parallel street names, which can make it harder for users to orient themselves. Adding customization options, like incorporating building names into directions, would provide a clearer and more user-friendly experience.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For OSU, the map serves as a valuable tool for showcasing the university to prospective students and employees, enhancing recruitment and engagement efforts.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

What I like most about Concept 3D is how effortlessly it lets me bring visual stories to life — no heavy lifting, no constant reliance on our web dev team. As a graphic designer, I can build and manage interactive content all on my own.

We’ve invested in our own 360-camera and had a blast roaming campus, capturing panoramas and scenes. Concept 3D makes plugging those into the platform a breeze. It’s truly plug-and-play — drop in 360° photos or videos, hotspots, text, overlays — whatever you want — and it just works.

Some of my favorite things:

• The user interface (CMS/editor) is intuitive — I don’t have to wait on developer help to make edits.

• I can embed hotspots in map stops — with photos, video or descriptive text — to make each location feel immersive.

• The customization options are robust: layering, branding, overlays, toggling visibility.

• It’s mobile- and responsive-ready, so users exploring on phones or tablets get the full experience.

In short: Concept 3D gives me creative control with power and flexibility, letting me focus on design and storytelling instead of technical hurdles.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

I wish Concept 3D was more budget-friendly for smaller institutions. While it offers excellent visuals and engaging interactive features, the costs — especially for updates or additional features — can feel high relative to the benefits for campuses with limited resources.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Concept 3D helps solve the challenge of giving students an immersive campus experience when they can’t visit in person. It allows students who live far away to explore campus virtually, and it gives prospective students a real sense of our campus environment right from the start of their search. This early exposure helps them connect with our community and envision themselves here, making the recruitment process more engaging and effective.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

I had been maintaining static graphical maps of our campus for many years and everything was always behind. Offices would keep stacks of printed PDF maps for years with old info and outdated content was always being chased down.  We needed a solution that allowed everything to be maintained in one location, that offered wayfinding, location markers, and could be a one stop shop for map related content. We contacted Concept3D and I've fell in love with maps all over again. The software is super easy to use and continually saves us countless hours of work.  Parking services wants to document some temporary parking for an event, done. Admissions needs a repeating special event to highlight and campus buildings and tour info, done.  Wayfinding across campus using wheelchair accessible paths, done.   Our static map couldn't tell us anything about user engagement.  I check our analytics daily to see what areas of the map are being used and that helps us understand the needs of our audience.  Customer support is top notch and I've never had anything but immediate results and a welcoming, positive interaction with every staff member with whom I communicated. I use our map CMS daily to add new items and tweak content - I used to dread documenting map changes, but Concept3D makes map editing fun and super easy.

We also use their Tour platform to give campus tours of our facilities.  Dropping 360 panoramas or videos into the interface is so easy and satisfying. I made a new tour last week in just a few minutes and the reviews have been wonderful. It helps us show our best attributes in an easy and good looking platform. It's fun to use as well.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

There is nothing that I don't love about Concept3D.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We no longer have a bottleneck on map updates or outdated printed maps.  I can implement vast updates for our entire campus in a matter of minutes and everyone can instantly see the changes. I save many hours of work every month.

As a small team, Concept 3D has made our map creation and continued management easy. Their support team is outstanding, whether that's answering a quick email with helpful how-to information, or taking a deeper dive into optimizing functionality. We have expanded the ways in which we use our campus map across campus and over many events.

The people there are great. I feel they really care about the experience of not only me as a site manager, but also the user's experience. The features of the software are more than we currently use, but we're looking to make more use of it!

There's definitely a learning curve. Their help articles can sometimes be too general when you have specific questions.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

I really appreciate their newly released dynamic labels, which let us manually update building titles without needing to submit revisions for each one. Their response time is excellent whenever I reach out, and they stay in regular contact with us. The links they provide are easy to add to our website, so we don’t have to worry about tours or people getting lost. They handled most of the implementation work, making the process very smooth. We use the system all the time.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

Their map images are expensive to update, and there are essentially no revisions included in the initial cost. Given the ongoing expenses, it would be more reasonable if they offered a set number of revisions each year.

I create a lot of GIS-based maps for NMSU, but it's hard to create a GIS experience that captures all of our student-focused data in a user-friendly way. Concept 3D is really great for this.

It is incredibly expensive to make changes to the renders. Universities in general are in a constant state of construction, so cost is definitely something to consider.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Concept3D provides a high quality map product. Their renderings of our main campus and remote campuses are nothing short of beautiful. The ability to add/schedule event-related map Categories for Commencement and Move-In Day is great for universities. Their map icon library is bottomless.  But I'd say the company's customer support representatives are probably the best feature of Concept3D. I've had two different reps over our multi-year contract and they have both gone ablove and beyond to help me navigate the map CMS, initiate updates to map renderings, navigate contract renewals and more. They also offer useful webinars for clients where I've gotten great ideas that I implemented on my college's map.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The user side of the CMS feels a bit antiquated. They did recently update the text fields and that's an improvement. Previously, I would have random days when text formatting within the WYSIWYG just would not do what I was asking and I'd have to jump into the code to implement an H2 heading or a bold text. I have not encountered that problem since the latest CMS update.

The Concept3D map has several features that make our map accessible to all users, which is a federal requirement for public institutions such as ours.

Everything in the admin area was very intuitive and just worked as yourd expect it to. Nothing required the manual, however Nikki was always there to give us tips or support articles.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

I was a late addon to our university committee working with Concept3D, and it was sometimes unclear how to envision the after view for a step we were working on. Perhaps a demo of before and after at different steps along the way would be helpful.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an upgraded map in general, with better accessibility out of the box. Concept3D delivered this essentially as phase one and it's been up and up from there.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Using Concept 3D's maps in conjunction with Localist makes it super easy for students to find the locations, events and services they need to get started or keep going with their education. With a population of students that already has significant barriers to overcome, anything we can do to make them feel at home on campus & keep them connected with our college community makes a big difference. The features, ease of use and overall user experience provided by Concept 3D and Localist helps us make that goal a daily occurance.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

There is a little bit of a learning curve to the backend of the Concept 3D maps system - it's not a dislike as much as it is an endorsement to work with folks like Nikki Clayton for training, questions and new projects! I can't say enough good things about all of the support we have recieved.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have several campuses that are complex to navigate, especially for first-time visitors. We see students using Concept 3D as an on-campus wayfinding tool, which means our contact center and student support staff field fewer calls and questions about where things are located. This keeps their time free for more complex questions, which in turn, provides a better level of customer service to our students.

Once introduced to Concepts, the CMS is very user-friendly. Nikki has been so helpful, making the implementation of Concepts3D efficient.

Two things stand out: it's really easy to use and the support is great and easy to work with, and there is an amazing amount of customization we can do to our maps (for each campus) . It's quite fun to play with making custom layers for events and various campus services.

A few of the features are a bit hard to figure out or find.

We had many servious and locations that were just too difficult to put on a .pdf map (and it was only updated once a semester). With this product we've been able to include so many more services and locations and it can be updated daily.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

I really like the service. Our rep is responsive and friendly and genuinely listens and cares about our success. Concept3D also send regular emails with tips about how to make the best use of the product. I just wish I had time to take advantage of all the features.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The backend of the map CMS is still a little clunky. They've worked hard to roll out improvements, but the administrator side is still a little cumbersome and non-intuitive. It's powerful and the end-user experience is pretty good, but the way features are grouped and the feel of the administrative dashboard interface can be a little confusing sometimes and looks a little bit dated.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a campus map that we could keep up-to-date, offer custom tour maps, and help keep us from having to generate constant, custom paper maps. The added bonus is that now we can use a QR code and say "visit our online map" and it shows where they are.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Concept 3Ds team has been great to work with, and they have created a comprehensive virtual mapping system that really provides a great experience for our visitors and is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

I would say that the biggest hurdle we have had is with trying to create and utilize a printable version of the maps.  However, the team at Concept 3D has been very receptive to feedback and we hope to cross this off the list soon.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Concept 3D, we are able to showcase various areas of a large campus, and are able to have virtual tours and wayfinding in areas that we don't normally tour our visitors, so they can get a more well rounded experience while they are here.

Localist, Concept3D's event platform, has provided us a modern solution for a decentralized system of managing events on our campus. The ability to slice and dice locations, speakers, groups, departments, etc outside of the event objects allows all of the campus to be represented.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

Localist, Concept3D's event platform, falls short on SSO integrations. The platform allows for a wide degree of decentralized management of events, but management of users is a limiting factor, as permissions and groups must be manually managed inside of the app.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our business issue is how to get different groups, different departments, and different physical locations able to create events in a centralized feed without the need for admin intervention. This allows for web embeds, social media posts, and more to all reference a central event platform.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Everything is pretty easy to use! They are pretty available to answer questions. The look of the campus map is beautiful and translates well to print, however we had to do this pretty manually. Would be nice to have more help on connectin an overall map strategy. It can be complicated. I also love that students have the flexibility to navigate a tour as they wish - no hard starting or ending point. It's pretty flexible.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

I think the virtual tour experience could use some work on the user side. The videos should really be front and center, but on mobile it's a little hidden. The map is wonderful and perfect, but the virtual tour (not the 360 tours) could be improved. The 360 tour is pretty basic. It might be nice to have the 360 tour be a little more immersive, allowing users to walk around campus rather than just engage with one image at a time.

Solving a need for a digital interactive map and virtual tour experience. It's benefitting us because it allows prospective students to get to know our campus before actually visiting in person.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

I really like the ability to create specific maps for specific events on campus. It is also a really nice touch to be able to set a location on the map and share that location as a link which makes it easier for end users to find the specific place on the map - i.e. linking to a specific parking lot, building, etc.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The CMS for managing the map feels a bit clunky at times. It would be nice if the different editing elements had a little more breathing space. Often, it feels crowded when trying to edit something with the bevy of menu and location options.

Allows us to always have an up to date digital version of our campus map. We are able to make edits in a timely manner that ensures our users have a better experience by using a digital map rather than a static, printed map.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

2023 Update: We've been a client since 2016 and the service and updates have only gotten better. I love that they have continued to grow and listen to the needs of their customers AND act on it. 

The level of customization for locations, sharing, visuals, and tours is extraordinary. The onboarding and support is superior. The quality of the renderings is excellent! If you have resources to think about strategy and maintain your map on a regular basis, this a great choice for a virtual map tool.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

Update: Happy to share there is more granular reporting in Google Analytics now!

The CMS feels a little dated, so there's a learning curve because it's not intuitive. I work at system-level and support authors at multiple locations, and get a lot of questions. Luckily, Concept3D has comprehensive help documents which I can quickly reference for most. The tool has been slow to adopt by some of our locations, so the utilization is lower than I'd expected. I would also like detailed analytics provided by the company. The only tracking option is through Google Analytics, in which all clicks are grouped into one event.

**Recommendations to others considering Concept3D:**

Please identify a role within your company that will manage the tool for a long time. So many times tools/solutions are purchased, set up, but then never touched again. This will need to be maintained and promoted to really get the value out of it.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We just had one location make updates to attract new students and job candidates during a time when most everything is closed. This gives users an idea of being on site before visiting. 

Also, some of our campuses are quite large and the wayfinding function for students is great when they're onsite for the first time, looking for their classes.

Concept 3D really values their customer relationships. They are very responsive to any feedback or requests for enhancements we've given. Our dedicated client success manager not only knows their products but learns about our university as well and can help us use the map and calendar to best meet our goals.

The product is made of many different modules. This allows you to better select the options that are right for you and save money in the long run, but sometimes it's hard to know which pieces you've actually got access to.

Having a beautiful campus map with virtual tours gives us another way to recruit potential students, especially when they are not able to make it to campus in person. Concept 3D provided some new features at our request so that we could embed our own custom request for info form which allows us to capture the needed data and track those requests coming from the map.

My favorite thing about the Concept 3D map is how custom (and well done!) the map is. Their team takes the time to make sure the smallest of details are accurate, and even add in little Easter Eggs to make it fun!

For our particular facility the Wayfinding doesn't have quite enough customization to make it the best it can be for our guests. But the C3D team is very receptive to our feedback and has worked to help us use it to the best of our ability.

We have a very large facility and were constantly having to think of ways to provide directions to guests. Having this map available to everyone has made a huge difference in people being able to find where they need to go. We are able to see where people are searching for most often which helps us know what signage we may want to look into.

I really like the graphical interface and how users navigate the system. It embeds nicely into our website. The layers are very configurable and easy to manage.

The back end could be improved a bit and the ability to style things. I would like to customize elements a bit more visually but we are locked down to what the style editor allows vs assigning our own css classes, etc.

Easily my favorite thing about the Concept3D interactive map is the quality of the product. The rendering is beautiful and usable, with the landmarks illustrated to be easily identifiable.

It's not quite as easy as I'd like to reuse a pin in more than one category, such as when it needs to appear on an event-specific map. If the description needs to be slightly different for each usage, then I have to recreate the pin, re-add the images, etc.

Many of our customers -- college students -- come from far away, and although we encourage them to visit campus before enrolling, sometimes that's not feasible. The interactive map gives those students a way to tour campus virtually to start to imagine themselves at the University.

2. Limited Features: Although Concept3D's interactive 3D map offers a variety of features, they may be limited compared to other solutions available on the market that offer more comprehensive functionalities. 
3. Restrictive Licensing Agreement: The licensing agreement for using this solution can be very restrictive with regards to what content is allowed on their platform and how third parties use the data for commercial purposes or research projects without prior approval from Concept3D itself  
4. Lack Of Customizability Without Development Resources: Unless organizations have development resources, it might not be easy to customize certain aspects beyond their initial design, such as customizing routes or adding additional markers.   
5 Security Concerns: As much as these solutions offer convenience, security is always a concern, considering that users need to share access credentials while availing of the services provided through this platform.

This map has a few handy features, including capturing a specified location with a virtual tour. We were able to use our own logo within the map, which added personal significance. Moreover, we could color code different points throughout the map so that users could easily find them and navigate through it quickly. Concept3D is committed to continual improvement; this makes our job easier, and it's great for visitors because they are able to determine where these points are located much more easily!

Rolling out the Concept3D map for our large non-traditional property was a decision that has translated to a better customer experience for guests on-site at WEC. The support team worked with us to customize the map to our branding and helped us through all aspects of the process. We love that we can change the view and schedule in content that reflects the property in real time-- the built-in top bar navigation is also an excellent tool for marketing! The backend is pretty intuitive, and our rep Kristin kindly offered us support in every phase.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

We are a quickly developing property, so maintaining an UTD map view will be an ongoing labor for us that will have associated costs. Other than that, we're excited about the new integrations and thoughtful updates the team at Concept is making to continue to improve this tool.

It’s given us the ability to provide a great deal of information to our visitors in regards to the state of our campus at any given time (accessibility options, alternate routes and detours, active construction zones, building statuses during the stay-at-home order, etc.) We can now easily edit the map in real-time and ensure it’s always up-to-date.

The sales team was patient and detailed when responding to questions and concerns.  The product was what we were looking for.  The true partnership came with our Client Success Manager and her dedication to getting the product rolled out on time! She has navigated us successfully through many product services.  Her commitment to introducing us to other services was very beneficial.  We started with a limited license in Dec 2020 and have continued to add new products based on her recommendations.  She listened and understood our facilities department (since it was not the typical marketing or admissions department), and how we wanted to utilize the interactive map.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

The downside was our first Client Success Manager and the initial training.  We were losing the momentum of our team because they were unsure of the next steps necessary to get the map off the planning grid and onto the website. It was a true 180 when that person was replaced.  It speaks volumes about a company when they react and pivot to the needs of the customer. Our largest obstacle became our most significant asset because of a personnel change.  The product was always great, but if we did not have proper assistance, training and "hand-holding" it would not succeed.

Wayfinding has been key to our campus, especially the ADA assistance to students, faculty and staff. The university is located in a large metropolitan city, where the public participates in events, uses venues, and has essential ease of navigation.

I genuinely can't say there is something to dislike about the Concept3D software or the customer service support I received. The software itself had FAR more features than I ever would have expected and the UI was very user-friendly. The representative that helped me, Elizabeth Ekelund, went above and beyond and helped me out immensely. There's seriously nothing bad I can say about my experience.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our biggest problem was students having difficulty navigating our campus and finding their classrooms and student resources. We've had a lot of new construction going on and location changes, and having this software has helped immensely with students being able to find our Admissions Office, Financial Aid, and their various classroom buildings.

**What do you like best about Concept3D?**

Concept 3D makes all live map integrations possible. It includes so many options and allows you to use it in a variety of ways, highlighting maps, making tours, and creating special experiences for people. It integrates with event applications such as Localist, allowing you to make the most of it.

**What do you dislike about Concept3D?**

Learning curve for editing interface; not necessarily unexpected, but not immediately intuitive. Their support is excellent, so I think this is easily overcome.

**What problems is Concept3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have developed a tour for potential visitors and can provide a look at our facilities that is interactive and visually beautiful. We're also able to provide easy directions and additional insight for events. We benefit from its flexibility!
