"Great product for running programming assessments"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

We've been using CodeSubmit for about 2 years to run our take-home programming assessment for technical candidates. It's been very easy to invite candidates, and in addition when we email the CodeSubmit team with questions they've always been very responsive and attentive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Sometimes candidates fail to push the code in time and we have to manually follow-up to get the code, I wonder if there's some way candidates could still be allowed to push the code (but receive a warning in their terminal that it's overdue, so that they're aware they have no more time and shouldn't push any more) & have it be flagged in the system as a late submission.

Unfortunately for us on the hiring side, take-home programming assessments may not be providing as much hiring signal anymore due to the prevalence of people using LLMs that are getting increasingly strong at handling scoped tasks, but CodeSubmit also has other interview products besides the take-home programming assessment option, and based on personal communication with their support team they are thinking about how to make their product adaptable this issue.

I think it's a good product, however I haven't done that much comparison with competing products so I can't say for sure what the differences are. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our favourite developer hiring tool"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

CodeSubmit makes hiring proccess easy and interactive for everyone. Recruiters do not need to send take-home assignments manually and track time anymore. I honestly do not know how lo live and work without CodeSubmit anymore.

Example. Our take-home assignment has a time limit of 4 hours. An applicant from Australia decides to start it at 7pm Australian time. Our recruiter in the UAE can happily sleep, because it 1 am in Dubai. No need to communicate all the details with every candidate. No need to send the challenge manually.

plus I love how a developer tool could be managed by "normal people" :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy and fast to use, super helpful with hiring technical staff"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

It was super simple to find relevant assessements from their assessment library and invite the candidates. As a startup, we're hriing quitr slowly, so I only needed the service for a month. I forgot to cancel and the system auto-renewed. Customer support was super helpfup to address my screew up! I'll defintiely come back when we want to hire again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Candidates who don't complete an assessment still count towards the monthly limits. So we have to be extra careful who we invite! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Technical Screening Application"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

Hiring software engineers for both WFH and WFO positions takes a long time to set up in a way that both assists interviewers and applicants alike. CodeSubmit has taken most of the pain out of the process by:

- Having a good sized library of customizable questions that are immediately available to use

- Having screening challenges, take-home assessments and code pair sessions in one interface

- Allowing us to create a custom grading rubric for each assignment for all hiring managers to follow

- Extremely helpful customer service Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Our only complaint was that if you want to use multiple tests with one applicant, you have to manually invite them for each test, at which point a single applicant will have multiple "candidate" entries that can become tedious to keep track of. We were able to submit our feedback to the CodeSubmit team who has confirmed they are already working on a solution to this issue. So hopefully soon, we won't have any complaints at all! "Great Platform that Really Improved Our Hiring Process"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

CodeSubmit allowed us to easily customize and employ a variety of test types and difficulties that greatly helped us screen and qualify dev candidates much better and faster than we were able to previously with our small team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

There were a couple of small feature requests we encountered that we mentioned to the support team, but nothing that would qualify as a real negative. The team was also extremely receptive to our suggestions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Makes the Technical Interview a Breeze"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

As the CTO of a small startup, 100 different priorities are going on and creating a technical test for recruiting can be far down on the list. CodeSubmit allowed me to "hire out" having to come up with a take-home project by providing a very large library of frameworks and projects to choose from. Candidates also seemed to appreciate the projects for being appropriate sized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Currently I do not have any complaints with CodeSubmit. It does exactly what it says, and is easy to use. Highly recommended Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing product, instrumental in our hiring process"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

CodeSubmit allowed us to hire a front end engineer using what we feel is the best type of assessment, without having to put a bunch of time into it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Lack of integrations with ATS, lack of ability to have customizable email templates. Aside from that it's really hard to find any faults. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool for screening engineers"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

A few of the best things about Code submit are:

- Take-home challenges in the CodeSubmit library are easy to customize

- It is easy for recruiters to add their own custom challenges

- Integration of screen sharing for post-assessment follow on questions

- Easy to manage and track candidates (thought some improvements could be made)

- Great experience for candidates as they can use their tools and local environment to complete assessments Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

Overall, CodeSumit is a very good product, but there are a few areas for improvement. Namely:

- The majority of the built-in technical assessments are very web-centric. It would be great to see a wider variety of challenges to test additional skills and areas of specialty.

- Some effort should be made to improve the interface for managing current and former candidates. For example, there is no ability to view archived candidates. Additional built-in fields for classifying why a candidate had been approved or rejected would be welcome as well.

- Analytics and insights are currently lacking. Additional metrics - such as average ratings, the average time to complete a given challenge -would help further inform hiring decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cute and powerful platform to hire software engineers"
What do you like best about CodeSubmit?

Fast, good UI/UX, powerful, good customer support, which actually understand your problems and needs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CodeSubmit?

It could be a little costly for tech startups. But I guess it´s fine for the industry. As an outsider, it's hard to understand why such a platform costs more than the entire ATS. I am not a fan of questioning pricing, I guess they provide an exeptional service and we are happy to pay for it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
