If we compare the performance of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop with its major competitors like Amazon Workspace or Microsoft Virtual Desktops that works with RDP protocol, Citrix ICA/HDX protocol has much better performance with session reliability and low bandwidth performance. Furthermore, Citrix has different machine provisioning services including MCS and PVS which makes it easy to provision VDI with custom images in bulk. It comes with great features that could be easily configured to provide great end user VDI experience. **What do you dislike about Citrix DaaS?** Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop is although a great VDI solution with great performance, it is tough to troubleshoot some issues sometimes. A simple VDI registration issue could be due to multiple reasons and it could give you a hard time figuring what exactly is causing the issue. An issue that is probably not Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (formerly XenDesktop) specific, but since these are virtual apps if used on a connection that has high latency or frequent internet drops users can become frustrated. Unlike true web services, users do require a solid internet connection. Slow is ok; latency is not. Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Formerly XenDesktop) does have a bit of a learning curve and can get complex at times. Sometimes the virtual desktop will load very quickly, so if you get disconnected, restarting is usually a quick process. Production does not get affected either. The apps on the desktop are reliable, and I love that you can save your files and folders, screenshots, notes, bookmarks, etc. I also like the preface and the looks of the desktop. Very professional looking with colorful icons. **What do you dislike about Citrix DaaS?** The minor thing I dislike about Citrix workspace is when your internet is lagging even just a little bit, and it seems to take forever to load. If you do get to the log-in screen and the desktop starts loading, it often spins eternally, or if it does load, the desktop is black with no programs or icons. In that case, you have to disconnect and restart from the workplace. You only have access to your own profile, hence it’s as if it were your own personal computer. **What do you dislike about Citrix DaaS?** It tends to glitch often. But they are minor glitches. It will sometimes add about 5 spaces in apps such as ADC OTTO, or the app crashes and you have to re-log in. But you do not loose your info/work. **Recommendations to others considering Citrix DaaS:** As an employer it is very handy as you can track progress and usage of what job has or has not been done **What problems is Citrix DaaS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use them to log in & report laboratory and sample information. From their XenApp to VDI solutions, Citrix provides the best performance when compared to similar products. I've used Citrix in a variety of different ways at multiple companies, but always had a similar experience. Personally I find it works best when used to deploy remote apps, rather than full desktop experiences. This depends on the set up of the organisation though, as I have seen good use cases for so called dumb terminals, when the users are geographically spread out. Due to the current global situation, I have been using it more for a remote desktop tool for users who don't have company equipment. Citrix helps deliver a secure way to access the corporate environment, when the users are in less than secure areas. The feedback I've had from users has been good and it will be a solution that I believe we'll continue to use in the future. We also use workspace to deliver a 3rd party tool, which is great for keeping the management of the product low on our end. It allows us to hand over the day to day running of the app to the 3rd party, whilst keeping our support low. **What do you dislike about Citrix DaaS?** It can be fairly difficult and expensive to set up, depending on what you're looking to do with it.
