What do you like best about CARTO?

The UI is really user friendly. The layering system works really well to choose what data you want to show and how you want it to be displayed. I also like the option to use SQL even with CSV uploaded data. It is also very easy to share maps with a link. These links never have to change and always include every update. "Great value out of the box"

What do you like best about CARTO?

It was extremely easy to create powerful map based insights and it was possible with some effort to create customized ad-hoc dashboards with maps. Interactive reports with filtering capabilities created added value. Available external datasets where also very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It was not that easy by that time to provide non map based charts together with the maps. Licensing schema was not so flexible for some use cases, especially in on-premise deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is CARTO solving and how is that benefiting you?

Time ago, IoT and data based smart city solutions. The most important benefit was to introduce geographical analysis and representations easily and create map based solution without a GIS platform behind. What do you like best about CARTO?

Zip codes too small when zooming in and out. I'm often mapping zip codes for logistics. Need a visual indicator for sharing - if locked and not able to be shared, then it should say so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CARTO?

We love how flexible Carto is, but also the quality of the maps we are able to deploy. Trying to create a real-time updated mapping solution without a product like Carto is gigantic time suck, and Carto has made it much easier than other solutions we reviewed. We rapidly launched a tool to allow the public to submit details about Covid-19 symptoms they are experiencing to alert local officials. The data gets posted to a live Carto map that is used by first responders, city managers, mayors and public health officials. What do you like best about CARTO?

Easy to use, the interface is intuitive. The widgets add nice features and a lot of functionalities. The integration of Jupyter Notebooks and CartoFrames makes it a powerful tool for spatial data science. The data observatory also adds almost unlimited possibilities with the addition of great datasets from reliable data providers. What do you dislike about CARTO?

Limited API functionalities to access data and features stored in Carto. It would need better GIS capabilities for more advanced users without relying on external tools. Carto Builder should be a key product in their offering and development efforts seem to be towards other products for the last few years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering CARTO:

Great tool to easily publish and share maps to a large audience. The visualization features are nice and make intuitive maps. Not the traditional GIS tool, it lacks some spatial analysis features typically found in desktop tools but it makes a great tool for businesses looking at entry-level web-based software. If you're looking for an entry-level SaaS software to share maps and data across an organization it's a great tool to consider. I would recommend it to an organization that has a limited number of users, maybe not a solution for 1000+ people to share data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
