I appreciate Bright Data, especially the AI Scraper Studio, which allows me to automate many processes even as a non-technical user. I find it great that it lets me create complex scraping automations and structure data with just one or two prompts, making it accessible to non-techies like me. Previously, I was supposed to do tons of development and testing for every single website, whereas now it’s just a URL and a prompt.

You should have a certain level of understanding of how things are working in the scraping space, but it's not the problem of Bright Data. It's just overall there is a certain threshold for entering the scraping world. And so, yes, basic knowledge is still necessary. Though I cannot say it's a Bright Data downside. Initially, we were a little confused about whether we could simply collect a certain number of a given sample or if we needed to cut the dataset to stay within our budget. Specifically, we only had the budget for roughly 1.1 million profiles. We weren't sure if we needed to filter the dataset to collect less than 1.1 million or if there was a way to just limit it to 1.1 million. Eventually, we clicked the button to go forward with the purchase, and only there did we find the option to limit the sample size. The lack of visibility confused us for a little bit. The product has lots of different features, it can be difficult to tell what to use. The docs are not great or were not great when I used them before. LLMs don't seem to have a good handle on how to use it. The marketing pages say things that might be good for prospecting, but they can be confusing as an existing customer; they sound like maybe you'd missed a specific product but turns out it's just what you'd already been using. The initial setup was tricky with confusion about sync async usage etc. The chat feature could help, but I haven't tried it recently. Previously it wasn't particularly useful. I like the dashboard and how easy it is to use, and the documentation is very simple and intuitive. I want to save as much time as possible, especially with integrating new third-party interfaces, and Bright Data does this really well with custom API endpoints and AI endpoints that have very easy access to. I would've liked new features and think there are some really cool things you can do outside of just proxies and scraping. For example, I had to outsource a third-party web browser through AI agents to scrape JavaScript heavy websites. It would be cool if Bright Data also integrated this, so I don't have to go out to another application. I also noticed that some websites are banned or blocked by the proxies, possibly because I don't have the dedicated business use case approval yet. Some proxies are not working. Bright Data feels like a big step forward for non-technical users. I’m genuinely proud of what I managed to do: even though I come from a media production background, Bright Data helped me set up monitoring and scraping for posts from 100 influencers I follow. That setup lets me analyze their content and repurpose it for my own audience.

Over the past year, some really convenient AI features have emerged for creating scraping setups from just a single URL, and it’s genuinely powerful. That said, I’d appreciate a bit more flexibility up front—specifically, the ability to specify exactly what data I want to extract from posts right away, rather than waiting for the scraper code to be generated and then immediately having to ask the AI agent for changes. I really appreciate how prompt and always available Bright Data's staff are. Even when an agent doesn't have an immediate answer, they give it their best to resolve the problem. Bright Data has exceptional customer support, and their whole team collaborates with the best interest of the client in mind. This level of support makes it easy to expect good customer service. Bright Data's customer support is truly the best in class, which is a huge reason why we are not looking elsewhere for an alternative vendor. Additionally, the setup has been quite easy, the technology and documentation on Bright Data's website are very intuitive, the data is provided really quickly, and the whole process is quite smooth. The only thing, to be honest, is that at the present, they only return a gzip file format for compressed information. Unfortunately, we require it in a ZIP format. It does mean that we have to build quite a little bit of technology to accommodate with our needs. I use Bright Data to collect information on firm strategies related to job postings. I find it extremely valuable because it provides data that's hard to obtain otherwise, highly reducing my workload by not having to create a web scraper from scratch. I like that the datasets are already set up and searchable. I also appreciate that Bright Data has AI features for filtering, which makes initial data overview processes much faster and more efficient. The DeepLook feature is great for taking an in-depth look at data varieties. Additionally, the scale of the data is impressive, helping to measure phenomena not easily captured by traditional surveys. I find the initial setup to be super easy and intuitive. Bright Data offers a variety of tools that help with a wide range of challenges. We’ve found that when we run into an unexpected problem, Bright Data already has a tool or resource that can address it directly. The UI is also easy to use, and there are plenty of guides that walk us through using new tools or approaches we may not have tried before. The customer service has also been great. Sometimes it’s hard to know which tool or process is the best solution for a given challenge, because there’s so much to sort through. In many cases, several tools could address our problem, but we don’t really know the most effective route until we’ve tried a couple of options. There are plenty of guides on how to use the tools, but there’s much less guidance on choosing the right tool in the first place. Additionally, when downloading a large snapshot it will ask you to try again in 10 seconds but in reality you will need to wait 30 minutes or more to download the snapshot.
