## Brainscape Reviews
  ### 1. Nice app for flash cards with many pre-made sets

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dariusz S. | QA Engineer and Software Development manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

There is good logic behind the order in which the flash cards are shown, so it makes learning easier. There are also many flash cards ready for use that were made by others. Even for very specific courses/certificates.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

You can only use some pre-made flash cards for free and the price is not very high, but I wouldn’t call it low.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps learning for a certificate I need for work

  ### 2. Finally flashcards that make sense

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lincoln M. | Culinary Arts Instructor, Hospitality, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I've been looking for an app to replace Cerego for years. I wanted a spaced-repetition tool I could give to my students to use on their own that would also focus on what they don't know. I was unsure about the lack of scoring, but now I see that honest confidence for each card allows much more flexibility in question and answer types. I'm also interested in exploring adding audio for specific ideas I'm working on. I also like that it's easy to import assessments I already have. I expect next school year I will be using this with my culinary class regularly

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I would like some option of scoring cards similar to multiple choice?

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mobile, online study tool that I can curate to help my students know what to focus on for the ServSafe Exam

  ### 3. Just exactly what I was looking for/ would have wanted to invent!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** D T. | Head of department, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

It is exactly the app I have been looking for to use in my school with students, I am passionate about using the leitner system and interleaving for maximal retrieval but paper flashcards are cumbersome and other apps do not do it very well at all. This app allows use of leitner system has clever metrics and allows AI use to create decks of cards in an instant.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I would like the metrics to be added to the desktop version. Ability to sort classes by time studied would be a feature I'd like (if it hasn't already happened yet)

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Students retrieving key facts for all their subjects at school.

  ### 4. As useful as it gets

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I'm absolutely loving Brainscape for my WSET 2 wine studies. It's super easy to use and fits perfectly into my busy schedule. The flashcards are spot-on with professional-level content that's actually helping me remember all those complicated wine regions and grape varieties. I can pull out my phone anytime for a quick study session, so know instead of scrolling through Instagram I get to study easily. The way it repeats cards based on how well I know them has made a huge difference in what I'm actually remembering. So much better than flipping through textbooks.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Honestly, there's not much I don't like! If I had to nitpick, sometimes I wish the subscription was a bit cheaper. Also, there are some minor UI glitches that could be fixed. But these are minor things compared to how much it's helped my studying.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape is solving my biggest study challenges by making it possible to tackle the massive amount of wine terminology and concepts in WSET 2 without getting overwhelmed. The spaced repetition system helps me memorize details that would otherwise slip away, especially all those wine regions and grape characteristics I need to know for the exam.

  ### 5. Flash cards on the go!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shanice C. | Accounting Advisory Associate 1, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I love how it syncs between my computer and my phone. I have been studying for CPA and it’s been super helpful for me to easily type away creating flashcards on desktop and review on my phone later !

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Maybe I just don’t have access yet,
I’d love the capability to format text on my Brainscape flashcards . For example, being able to make text bold/italic/underlined, create bullet or numbered lists, and possibly adjust font size for emphasis. This would make it easier to organize key points, highlight important concepts, and make the cards more visually engaging.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping me with memory retention of my CPA FAR topics

  ### 6. Brainscape for foreign language learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom M. | High School Spanish Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape uses a spaced repetition system that makes learning new vocabulary very efficient. I also like the format and functionality of the platform. It is very easy to use

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I haven't found any downsides yet. At this point it has been very smooth using the app

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have not encountered any problems that need to be solved yet. The spaced repetition system for the flashcards is beneficial

  ### 7. A Game Changer for Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivid W. | Mom, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

❣️The brain science baked into it: The app's use of cognitive science principles really sets it apart and enhances retention and understanding.

❣️Tracking progress/confidence gained: I love how Brainscape tracks his learning progress and how confident he feels about the material. This feature gives him a real sense of accomplishment.

❣️Attaching images to cards: As a visual learner, my son benefits greatly from this feature, as it allows us to add images to the cards to reinforce concepts.

❣️Content sections on cards: The option to add prompts, clarifiers, footnotes, and more to each card makes the learning experience more comprehensive and organized.

❣️Syncing between devices: I can make changes to his cards on my Mac, and within seconds, those updates reflect on his device, making it seamless and convenient.

❣️Organizing flashcards into 'decks': The ability to organize cards into subject-specific decks is incredibly helpful. We can break subjects down into chapters or semesters, which allows us to focus on specific content he needs extra help with.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

What I’d Love to See Added:

✏️ More formatting options, such as font sizes, font colors, highlighting, and text styles. These features would be incredibly supportive for visual learners like my son and myself, making the cards even more customizable and easier to engage with.

✏️ The ability to reverse cards: It would be fantastic to have an option to automatically "reverse" the cards. Right now, we set up the cards with a question on one side and the answer on the other. Being able to flip the cards so that the answers become questions (and vice versa) would allow us to study the material from both directions, enhancing our learning experience even further.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape has been an absolute game changer for my son, who requires significant remedial support. It's revolutionized how he studies for exams, and I’ve even started using it myself to learn a new language.

We began using Brainscape in Grade 9, and the progress has been remarkable. My son went from barely passing Grade 8 to achieving a solid 70% average in both Grade 9 and Grade 10. It's truly made a difference in his academic journey.

Overall, Brainscape has been a wonderful tool for both my son and me. It's not only helped him improve academically but also made learning more enjoyable and efficient. Highly recommend!

  ### 8. Efficient and use-friendly for student, especially for exam prep

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marissa S. | Student and Volunteer Emotional Support Text worker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

The difficulty ranking feature for cards

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

The many folders can be difficult to manage and can make it time consuming to integrate into work load.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very helpful in organizing subjects and keeping key facts straight.

  ### 9. It’s helping me a lot!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maressa F. | Professora universitária , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

What I like most about Brainscape is its excellent usability. The app is intuitive and makes it very easy to create and organize flashcards, making the study process more efficient. I also appreciate the methodology based on spaced repetition and self-assessment, which allows me to monitor my level of knowledge in each subject in a practical and accurate way.

In addition to the app itself, I’d highlight the informative emails the team regularly sends. They provide valuable insights into learning techniques and productivity, offering a read that’s always interesting and inspiring. This attention to detail and ongoing support is a unique feature that makes Brainscape even more useful and motivating.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

The free version limits access to materials created by other users, which can be a bit restrictive—but it’s understandable given the value the platform provides.

One feature I wish the app had is a mock exam mode. This would be great for testing knowledge in a format similar to real exams, helping users prepare more effectively for specific tests.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape is helping me study for competitive exams by making it easy to review key topics anytime and anywhere. It allows me to revisit questions and concepts efficiently, ensuring that I stay consistent in my preparation, even with a busy schedule. The ability to track my progress also helps me identify areas that need more focus, making my study sessions more targeted and productive.

  ### 10. Very useful and great for language learning!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I like the ranking system from 1-5. This allows you to build up confidence with challenging topics/words and put in a placeholder for later to make sure you truly learn the information.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I wouldn't mind if it had a reading capability, especially for language learning it would be nice to hear the pronunciation.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me learn new languages easier and keeps me consistent!

  ### 11. Excellent

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nat P. | Secretary of Core Committee, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape is extremely user friendly, the interface isn't clunky or old.
- It is very easy to make flashcards and add in images
- The scoring system I've found a better indicator than other websites and allows you to control your learning more easily
- You can copy decks and preview other decks with pro
- Continuous study is a great feature
- Pro is a really good feature but the free verison is also really good
- Resetting mastery is beyond useful
- See previous card feature on phone/ipad

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

- A recent change was that you can no longer view who is studying your class or their flashcard % which makes it harder to track and did seem like a money grabbing opportunity, which I would completely understand if you couldn't see as a free user, but as a pro user it felt ridiculous to then have to pay to see people studying your own flash cards
- Sometimes you are unable to copy specific decks and you have to copy an entire class
- You are unable to rearrange your classes, I have created classes at the start of medical school which are not useful most of the time so I have removed them then added them again at a later date, but you are unable to change the order of classes at the side which is slightly annoying
- If you remove a class you made but decide at a later date you want to coem back to it so you study it again, you are put into preview and unable to edit your own cards even though you made them unless you ask for help and get manually changed to an admin

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NA

  ### 12. Professional certification thanks to Brainscape

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I credit Brainscape with my success in passing 2 separate Professional Certification exams from the IAAP to be awarded full certification as a CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility). The exams were quite challenging, but Brainscape provided an easy way to organize and absorb information in small doses so I could build a strong foundation for my knowledge. I opened sets of flash cards several times daily for quick reviews. I especially appreciated Brainscape’s algorithm that relies on user feedback for each flash card to determine how often it should be revisited. This made learning much more efficient and less time-consuming.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Brainscape is best for cementing terminology, foreign language, or industry-specific concept definitions. It has more limited use for learning advanced concepts, but still has a definite place in a study program for many topics.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape is mainly tackling the problem of efficient and effective learning through targeted repetition and offering an easy way to create and share visual learning aids.

  ### 13. Great Experience ! Loved new features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sahil S. | CPA student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I used Brainscape to study for my CPA Core 1 exam, and I really appreciated the ability to create flashcards using screenshots. Assigning levels of difficulty to the flashcards was particularly helpful, as it allowed me to focus on the more challenging material before the exam. This feature ultimately saved me a lot of time. Keep up the great work, Brainscape team!

Thank you !

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I attempted to create flashcards by importing my notes, but I believe Brainscape's AI still requires some development, as it sometimes makes errors in recognizing questions and answers.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe Brainscape is offering users more features compared to other flashcard apps. The ability to create flashcards using screenshots has really saved me a lot of time, as I previously had to convert images to text. Additionally, the option to assign difficulty levels to questions has helped me focus on the more challenging material, which has improved my retention significantly.

  ### 14. Proven technique for studying

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Randall V. | Unemployed, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape uses the proven technique of using flash cards to study/enhance retention of your subject. I used their pro version to prepare for my WSET Level 3 in Spirits exam and I am confident that I succeeded in the tests (no results yet as of this review). Brainscape also made me more disciplined in my studies with the metrics built into the app so that I can easily see topics that I was weak in and devote more time to. All in all, I truly recommend this app for anyone taking up a certification exam. 2 thumbs up!

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

None so far. I really enjoyed using the app even on the website version.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was working on my whisky certification which i needed to proceed in a career in spirits/alcohol.

  ### 15. Great experience of preparing mysef for the WSET2 exam

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Viktoriia B. | SMM specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I found WSET2 exam questions flesh cards here and actually it's really amazing because it's so difficult to find such topic on other apps.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

At the moment I like everything about Brainscape because it's very helpful in my particular area.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm preparing myself for the WSET2 exam and there are so many different topics and questions to learn and Brainscape helps a lot to remember such a huge volume of information. I really enjoy my experience, it helps me a lot to progress and to become confident in my knowledge wich means much more profeccional as well. The app is easy to use and there are a great amount of other topics such as languages etc. as well.

  ### 16. The best study platform out there by far!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott B. | Website Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

There is so much to include here.

Customer service is best I have ever experienced in any platform by far. Quick replys, very helpful, very respectful, 10/10 all around.

The thoughout system of this study guide exceeds what I thought possible.

Flash cards that will show back up based of your rank of undersatdning you pick after answering. It's geniuse.

So easy to set up and implement your content or even find other content that is already organized in what you may be studying.

I found Brainscape during my course. From someone who makes content on youtube that gives tips on how to pass course. Now use it more than the course itself for studying.

The youtube content creator made sections for each of the 4 textbook / 4 module. Broke that down into flashcard decks for each chapter, multiple exam practice question decks, math / calculation only decks, overview of textbook / module deck. It is a better source of information that my actual course. Easy integration.

I use Brainscape everyday and the majority of my studying goes to it.

I cannot express enough how fortunate and blessed I am to have found this platform. Trust me it is worth your time.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Honestly, it is hard to put my finger on anything I dislike.

If I had to pick something I wish they would incorporate is some way to buy certain content of flash card deck sets made to buy it once and have full access of it always.

Only way to do that is lifetime access, but for someone who is just looking for one set of content is a bit steep. But that is a very unique request and is just because I am in a course and only need full access to that material.

Very minimal issues and is the only improvment I could see for my situation.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My course material doesn't have as much effort necessary for my success. Brainscape completely changed that for me. Another user made dozens and dozens of decks for all of my textbooks I am learning in my course. Is the best study partner I have ever discovered.

  ### 17. Brainscape: the only way to effectively prepare for the WSET 3 exam!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape makes it easy to organize and plan your studying strategy. With 41 study decks for the WSET 3 that are clearly labeled, I could easily select the knowledge areas that I knew needed more attention.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

The Pro version isn't free, but I do think it's fairly priced.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The WSET 3 exam is notoriously difficult to study for because it covers a vast amount of information. You can't simply memorize everything that the exam will cover; rather, you need to understand the nuances of each wine region. Brainscape offers 41 distinct decks for the WSET 3 so you can dig into each of the wine regions, winemaking styles and techniques, wine with food, storage and service of wine, viticulture, climate, and wine law and costs. Studying each of these decks several times gave me the confidence I was lacking before using Brainscape to sit for the WSET 3 exam.

  ### 18. Brainscape is AMAZING

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tal D. | Product manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape has made my college life WAY easier with the flashcards and learning games

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Nothing! its amazing, the way it helps me learn for my classes is phenomenal

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes learning much faster and fills any gaps in my college curriculum

  ### 19. Superior Digital Flashcard Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andie P. | Self-Employed, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

The "real world" application of learning flashcards is replicated with the added benefit of AI for intelligent learning. Whenever I am using physical flashcards, I always have a few nailed, but they keep coming around giving me a false sense of mastery through each round in the deck. I like how I am able to rate my knowledge of a card when it pops up and if I am not learning it it appears more frequently.

Also, this makes studying with friends much easier as we have the same deck of cards but not the SAME deck of cards.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I wish there was a way to reverse the cards, instead of having to make the same card twice (e.g. Q/A, A/Q or Term/Def, Def/Term). I also wish there were features for importing cards into a specific deck.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clutter! My study materials are my "brain artifacts" and I am slowly transitioning all my physical flashcards into digital ones.

  ### 20. Brainscape: The Ultimate Tool for Efficient Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape is an exceptional app for anyone looking to learn faster and retain more. Its spaced repetition system is by far the most effective method I’ve come across for mastering complex material, whether you’re studying for certifications, academic exams, or even personal development.

The app is incredibly intuitive, with a clean design that minimizes distractions. I particularly appreciate the progress tracking features, which show how much you’ve improved over time. The ability to create custom flashcards is seamless, and their library of pre-made decks covers a wide range of topics, saving hours of prep work.

What sets Brainscape apart is the way it adapts to your learning pace. By rating your confidence on each card, the system optimizes your review schedule, ensuring you focus more on what you need to learn while reinforcing what you already know.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to enhance collaboration features for group study or make some advanced features available at a lower price. That said, the value Brainscape provides is well worth the investment.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The app’s adaptive learning algorithm ensures I review cards at exactly the right time to reinforce my memory, without wasting time on what I’ve already mastered. This has drastically improved how I retain information, especially when preparing for complex topics or certifications.

  ### 21. Great product for memorizing everthing

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

It has great quality and trustworthy courses. I studied Spanish, and it makes my study much easier. You can generate flashcards with AI with a few clicks from photos or text documents. You have a 1 MB limit for each, though. There are a variety of premade study flashcards. Certified flashcards are well designed.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Typing the answer future missing. It could be of great benefit for active recalling. Also, I would suggest incorporating the text-to-speech option to make studying the lesson much more engaging. While it's an expensive product, I believe it's a worthwhile investment in the long run.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating flashcards is much easier with Brainscape. Its spaced repetition algorithm helps you memorize the content quickly.

  ### 22. Very excellent for medicine students

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patriks P. | Broadcast Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I'm a first year medicine student, so learning biology and anatomy for me is really complicated. I love that brainscape offers fast and easy access to cards, i can make my own cards/decks and easily repeat my knowledge. The best thing is that you can rate any of your answers based on knowledge from 1-5 and it will repeat the card to you again in some time if you don't know it that well.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Can't wait for more AI tools. And the only thing that i'm missing right now is some kind of bookmark to mark any card i like or the option to print them out. At least i have not found it yet.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to repeat my knowledge and remember some things or points that i have forgotten. By turning the card around and seeing the answers, i can see what i missed and that really improves my knowledge.

  ### 23. Excellent tool to help me with my certifications!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer B. | Marketing Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Very easy to use and create flashcards, clean interface and great app. Its algorithm is super helpful in actually learning and retaining the content. The AI flashcard creation feature is also top-notch.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Speed of editing flashcards on the app can be a little slow and wonky. Also wish there was more formatting options but other than that I love using Brainscape to study!

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning and retaining information. Staying organized and on top of studying for my wine certifcation

  ### 24. Taking wine studies to next level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wojciech S. | Senior Account Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Spaced repetition and active recall in one place. Two most effective study options I believe. Also, vast array of curated flashcards so I don't have to worry about making them on my own. Also - night mode is ery helpful during long night study hours. Very easy to use and navigate, also great customer support - they repsond quickly in case of any issues/requests.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

More advanced statistics model would be nice, for example how long did I study specific class/set. Also, ability to mix/add flashcards within a class between decks. You can't edit someone elses flashcards so if you spot something you would like to change, there is no way other than notifying that person - ability to duplicate and edit these for your own purpose would be nice.

But this is really just nitpicking.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability ti study by spaced repetition and active recall for wine studies. Also - no need to create my own flashcards because they have vast list of curated ones.

  ### 25. Useful features, but rising costs

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa E. | Dean of Academics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

As a foreign language teacher, I first chose using Brainscape over Quizlet because of two important features: First, Brainscape allows you to include audio recordings, so I add my recorded voice to each vocab word. I also add images to help students who are more visual learners. Second, Brainscape allows me to observe how much my students are using the flashcards, so I can assign them and give the students credit for doing them. I also like the features of creating reverse cards and duplicating decks.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Unfortunately, Brainscape has changed their policies. Now, for me to view my students' use of the flashcards, I would have to pay for an account for each of my students. That is not possible given limited school budgets. And now, quizlet offers automatically generated audio, so my recorded audio is not necessary. Ultimately, I continue to use Brainscape because I have created all these pre-made flashcards, but if I were to start all over again, I would use Quizlet.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't know what features they are working on.

  ### 26. The Learning Edge

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean O. | Freelance Actor / Voice Talent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

All the courses I have embarked on are there in one place, with my future learning needs catered for as well.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Content Management can be hard to navigate.

Would be useful to have an export function so questions and answers could be put into an excel spreadsheet to review offline, for example.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Brainscape subject coverage is second to none and covers all possible examination questions scenarios.

  ### 27. Indispensable for WSET Level 3

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven D. | Business development manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape’s adaptive spaced-repetition with confidence ratings delivers the fastest, most durable recall for complex material like WSET Level 3, so every study minute actually sticks. The combination of high-quality decks, clean UX, and sharp analytics makes it easy to stay consistent.

- The expert-structured WSET 3 decks break big topics into manageable, memorable chunks.
- The interface is clean and fast, reducing friction and boosting focus in short sessions.
- Progress analytics and reminders keep me accountable and on track for the exam date.
- Seamless sync across web and mobile lets me study anywhere, anytime.
- Custom deck creation with images makes it simple to tailor cards to my weak spots.
- Offline study works perfectly for quick reviews on the tram or between tastings.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

The import and export options are quite limited. Having seamless two-way Anki or CSV support, especially with media preservation, would help reduce the feeling of being locked into the platform.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’m using Brainscape daily to prepare for WSET Level 3, and it’s been a game-changer. The flashcard sets are rich, well-structured, and perfect for spaced-repetition, helping me retain complex topics like vineyard factors, vinification, regional typicity, and tasting descriptors far better than with notes alone. The clean interface, study analytics, and seamless sync make short study sessions incredibly effective.

Looking ahead, I’d love to see even more vertical, domain-specific libraries—deeper wine and spirits certifications, beverage law and compliance, sensory analysis, fortifieds, and sake. Expanding these specialized areas would make Brainscape truly indispensable for learners and professionals who rely on targeted mastery.

Five stars for the current experience—and it’ll only get better as those expert-level decks keep growing.

  ### 28. Great website, love the spaced repetition and offline availability.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina F. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I’ve been using Brainscape since I started med school, after a professor recommended it to us. It’s been about two years now, and Brainscape has become my go-to study tool. The 5-Step spaced repetition system is highly effective for both short- and long-term test prep. Plus, creating flashcards makes it much easier to memorize and grasp concepts, as it forces you to condense and process the information.

One feature I love is the offline mode, which lets you download your classes and decks. It’s a lifesaver because it allows you to study anywhere, anytime—even from your phone!

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

I’m not a fan of how long it sometimes takes for the app to sync or download my classes. Also, you need to upgrade to Pro if you want to add images or reset your cards to start over.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape has helped me master course material in bite-sized pieces while also allowing me to collaborate with other students to create more complete and effective study tools.

  ### 29. Brainscape for the Win!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nareen R. | Lecturer - Mentor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

The way it is organised is for ease of studying and referencing materials. They make navigation easy to use and information is very detailed.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

None at this point. Navigating it is really good and easy :)

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is breaking down information into bite sized pieces and making me read up on information I would have normally missed.

  ### 30. easy to use + amazing results

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape is super user friendly. Even the free version is good.

My favorite thing is that you can look up for classes and set up reminders to study.

Study sessions are not too long so it's so easy to just do one when you have a 5 minute to spare. Also, I looooove the phone app. I think it makes it so easy.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Would be nice to be able to bold or underline words when creating cards.

When creating cards, you only have text, image or record option, but it would be great to have options like ; select the right answer, etc.

I also would love to schedule multiple reminders a day.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Study only with your phone (no multiple books), collaborative (steal someone else's cards and save time 🙌🏻), effective (it's a good technique trust me, and one study sesh is like 5 minutes) and it tracks your progress!

  ### 31. Brainscapes is amazing!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscapes is amazing because...
- Creating flashcards is so easy, you can type them in or use ai to use pre created flashcards
- You can download decks and study on the go
- You learnt the material quickly and it stays in your long term memory as you come back to it often (I do about 5 min a day)
- It has a platform in which you can ask the developers for features, they will respond and hopefully will put that feature on their checklist, or if not will ask for more specifics, or explain why they can't.
- You can share your flashcards with friends easily and split the workload of creating the flashcards up.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

My only wish is that I could print of my cards which unfortunatly is not a feature at this time. It is currently on their backlog and hopefully will be created soon. Phones are not allowed at my school so not being able to print of my flashcards easily is quite a disadvantage.
They do have some work arounds like screenshotting and such but with the amount of flashcards I have this would take me years to complete.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a hard time concentrating on my revision and easily get distracted. Brainscapes is created in a way that it doesn't seem like revision it seems more like a game or something- with levels and stats and so on.

  ### 32. Great tool for WSET Level 3

**Reviewed by:** Despoina M. | Restaurant Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I use the flashcards in Brainscape to test my memory after each chapter of the book that I finish. It's very helpful and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

It is a little expensive, especially if you're planning on using it for a long time.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can revisit questions that I struggled to answer.

Developing study tools

  ### 34. Flashcard Learning Made Easy & Effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Connel E. | Account Executive, Wholesale, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

What I like best about Brainscape ist that -unlike other classic, or simple flashcard apps - it has a 5 category rating system or spaced repetition, which ensures that cards you know least will be tested more frequently. This process allows you to slowly transition content from your short-term to long-term memory.

It further allows you to find complete courses on any subject. I am using it both for my Spanish language learning and WSET level 2 exam study and am thrilled to not have to laboriously create the cards myself.

Last but not least, I like that you can sync the cards to all your devices and even export /download flashcards into spreadsheets.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

As with most products, I find the pricing to be on the expensive side and think it's a pity you would have to pay the yearly cost (cheapest option) in one installment.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am trying to learn Spanish and am also studying for my WSET level 2 exam. The fact that I have fully tailored classes and can save myself the hassle of creating the flashcards is extremely time-saving.

Moreover, the spaced repetition system undoubtedly works for me, as I can focus on the cards I know least and slowly but surely transition knowledge into my long term memory.

  ### 35. An Essential Study Tool for WSET Success with Brainscape

  ### 36. Great for Classroom Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** TAYLOR V. | Educator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

I love the spaced learning that Brainscape utilizes. Student confidence level in their flashcards will determine how often a flashcard reappears in their rotation. So far, I have built one flashcard deck for the unit my AP students are working on. It was very easy to set up on the website and very easy to have my students access the classroom I created on Brainscape. Students all joined and many of them have downloaded the app on their phone and they can access these decks whenever they have some time available to study. I have recommended this program to multiple AP teachers at my school already.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

Some of the features are for pro users only such as viewing students' data or adding images to flashcards.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A free spaced learning program that determines how often a student sees a flashcard based on their confidence level in their knowledge of that card.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Brainscape helps me focus on the key material for the WSET Level 2 exam by organizing topics efficiently and using spaced repetition to reinforce my learning. It saves time by allowing me to study on the go, making it far more convenient than traditional flashcards.

  ### 45. Powerful Flash Card Tools with Large Library of Information

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alec T. | F&B Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Brainscape?**

Brainscape is a fantastic memory training tool with both free and paid components that suit any level of investment. On the free side: flash cards are easy to create, there's no limit on # of decks (subject areas) you can create, and the UI is clean and easy to move through. I like how it defaults to 10 cards a session and allows you to self assess your knowledge with a simple 5-point scale for future follow up. I have yet to use the lesson sharing tools but I can see distinct value as an F&B manager creating lessons for my bar staff on our signature cocktails that can be shared across the staff.
On the paid side: I love that there are created decks in a huge variety of subjects from certified education providers. It helps me fill out the decks I create for myself being able to search for cocktails, wine sommelier subject matter etc.

**What do you dislike about Brainscape?**

The cost is a bit aggressive at first until you internalize the value in accessing decks from certified education providers. I wish there was a bit more functionality in formatting when creating cards so they can be set up to be a bit more visually appealing. Additionally, I wish there was better layout functions in the cards to address different ways to set up cards (definitions vs. question/answer, multiple choice etc.). But all in all, with a little more input I can get 90% of the way there in how I structure my decks.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digitizing process of flash card creation and making bite sized learning practical and accessible. It allows me to pop in bite sized lessons at the click of an app and allows me to adjust notecards on the fly for future reference.

It's early to know! For the moment I'm quite happy.

**What problems is Brainscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Auto-rating the flashcards is very helpful, also the 1-2min intense 10 card desks.
The possibility to enhance "bold" key words and the colors, make it easy to use and retan.
