"AI-Powered Bookkeeping with Manual Checkpoints"
4/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

I really appreciate Botkeeper for its AI-driven transaction categorization that efficiently handles large volumes of vendor transactions for our small-business clients. It learns vendor patterns and auto-posts entries to QuickBooks, saving us countless hours on manual work. The Bot Review dashboard is also a standout feature, as it neatly flags any transaction exceptions, allowing my team to quickly address them. By reducing our repetitive manual data entry work, Botkeeper frees up time for more important tasks like tax planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

Botkeeper's AI matching still makes frequent classification errors for our Austin clients with mixed-use business expenses. It lacks built-in Texas-specific tax form templates, and its Zapier connectivity is spotty when syncing multi-client QuickBooks ledgers. We cannot rely on it fully for US GAAP compliance, so our team manually reviews every set of books before tax filing season for our small-business portfolio. "Automates Bookkeeping, Saves Us Billable Hours"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

What I value most with Botkeeper is its custom expense‑mapping rule functionality, which fits really well with our mixed client portfolio at Northwood Accounting Group. We serve a lot of small‑scale manufacturers and local construction‑trade businesses, and every vertical has its own unique general‑ledger coding requirements. Before we started using this tool, our team spent hours every month manually re‑coding hundreds of transaction lines for each client file. I can build persistent custom rules inside Botkeeper, for example setting up dedicated logic to automatically tag lumber, hardware and job‑site supply purchases for our building‑contractor clients. Once these rules are saved, they keep running month after month, so those transactions land on the correct ledger accounts automatically. Our firm is a lean 11‑50 person shop with zero dedicated in‑house IT staff, so we cannot build outside automations to handle this work. These native mapping rules drastically cut down our manual correction work throughout month‑end close. Our client ledgers stay far more consistent across accounts, and there are way fewer messy adjustments we need to make before we hand financial records over to external CPAs for their quarterly audit reviews. It really preserves our billable hours, letting our accounting team shift focus toward compliance advisory work instead of mindless transaction sorting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

Botkeeper falls short when handling complex real‑world invoices common among our construction‑trade clients. It cannot reliably untangle mixed‑line invoices that combine material supply purchases and on‑site contract labor. Very often it will lump job‑site labor charges together with hardware supply expenses, forcing our staff to go in and fix each misclassified line item month after month. Its native audit trail filtering options are also pretty restricted. When we get ready for external CPA audits, I cannot create targeted filtered views to pull only the transactions I need to review. Since we don’t have IT resources to build custom workarounds, I’m forced to export huge full‑size datasets and manually sort through spreadsheets to pull the audit evidence we require. On top of that, there is no native integration connecting Botkeeper to our tax‑prep software. Once we finish cleaning up client ledgers, I have to manually export and import ledger data over to our tax system, adding tedious manual steps especially during our busy tax‑filing season. The initial rollout also had pain points. Getting bank feeds connected was simple enough, but building all those client‑specific mapping rules took many labor‑intensive hours, and the historical‑record import feature had rigid formatting rules that slowed us down right in the middle of our month‑end close window. "Solid AI‑Powered Bookkeeper for Multi‑Client Accounting Firms"
4/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

Botkeeper’s multi‑client dashboard and anomaly flagging bring real value to our Charlotte CPA practice. We can monitor retail and construction client books from one interface. PDF statement ingestion cuts tedious manual entry work, and exception alerts point out odd contractor payments early, easing our month‑end workflows while supporting US GAAP compliance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

The AI categorization struggles with mixed construction‑related contractor expenses. PDF parsing occasionally misinterprets statement line items. Native audit reporting options are limited, forcing manual exports and extra spreadsheet work, which adds extra burden during our high‑pressure tax filing season. "Useful Tool for Bookkeeping"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

I like the automatic reconciliation of bank statement and the automated coding of the transactions with in the tool. It's reduce my time to complete the bookkeeping for the client and I can prepare financial statements within the TAT. Previously I have to do reconciliation in excel which takes more time as compare to now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

I can not delete the perticular transaction of bank statement which I mistakenly post twice. I have to delete whole batch to correct the bank statement balance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"HELPING SMALL BUSINESS"
5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

BOTKEEPER WILL CATEGORIZE AND RECONCILE OUR COMPANY FILES IN A TIMELY AND CONSISTENT MATTER. IT TAKES THE COMPONENT OF NEEDING TO RELY ON YOURSELF OR STAFF FOR TIMELY OR ACCURACY. IT TAKES THE TIME-CONSUMING WORK TO LET US ADD MORE VALUE TO OUR CLIENT'S BUSINESSES. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

THERE IS STILL A SMALL LEVEL OF NEEDING TO UPLOAD SOME BANK STATEMENTS OR MAKE SURE LINKS ARE CURRENT. WHILE THIS IS NOT TOO TIME-CONSUMING, IT IS EASY TO FALL BEHIND A FEW MONTHS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Time Saver for Sure!"
5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

After having so many staffing issues our company was looking for a way to save time on our bookkeeping processes. After taking a webinar on CPA academy I connected with Botkeeper and in hindsight, I'm so glad I did. We started the process with Botkeeper over a year ago and had six employees. We were severely impacted by the great resignation (yes, it's real!) and lost over 40% of our staff in a one-month period. Had it not been for Botkeeper we would have been in a very bad spot. We service 60 monthly clients books with a staff of three (we are still understaffed) but Botkkeeper has been able to keep everything moving for us. If you are looking to automate your bookkeeping processes, look no further! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

I really do not have any complaints about Botkeeper! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Botkeeper has turned our bookkeepers into account managers"
5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

The most significant upside is removing those tedious, monotonous tasks from the bookkeepers and having them become actual account managers focusing on high-level tasks, quality control and working more closely with the clients in other areas besides bookkeeping. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

There are a few minor things within the system (that doesn't affect the overall work) that could be improved, but it's still a growing company, and I have faith in the product roadmap that they will be addressed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Wow, welcome to the future of accounting!"
5/5
What do you like best about Botkeeper?

Botkeeper is an accountant's dream come true. All those tedious tasks like updating bank accounts and reconciling are done without much help from you or your staff. They offer year-end tax write-ups as well so those clients that come at the end of the year with a pile of statements, just charge the client a small fee and let Botkeeper do the work. Welcome to the future of accounting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Botkeeper?

Sometimes the connections with the banks break and it takes time to reconnect them but that's not Botkeepers fault (most of the time it's Amex). Seems to be more of a security issue than anything but it would be nice if it didn't happen so frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
