The initial setup was really easy too, which made getting started with Berrycast hassle-free. **What do you dislike about Berrycast?** I would love it to have a way for me to adjust the sizing of my face when I share myself during the recording. A great tool for meetings. **What do you dislike about Berrycast?** I use it to transcribe notes from the many meetings I attend. For a while it was great, it would transcribe all of my meetings. However, I received an email from their support team saying that the transcribe option has been disabled by default. I tried to turn it back on but the option is no longer available. They said it was to save cost because people were not using it. What about the people who paid for it? I am disappointed. EDIT: Customer service got back to me and helped me get the transcribe option back up. **What problems is Berrycast solving and how is that benefiting you?** I attend numerous meetings and they are very detailed. It is imperative that I have a software program that can transcribe notes. ### 3. However, I did strongly recommend MFA to put into place. Given that this product records sensitive meetings and can capture screens, MFA is the absolute most basic level of security needed. Berrycast stated that would be deployed... as far as I know, it is know, over a year later, it is still not available. To make matters worse, BC turned on an 'AI note taking feature' without explaining the routes the AI feature takes. Upon probing this, I found (as suspected) they use Wisper (AWS) and OpenAI APIs, both of which means the audio recordings are passed to multiple third parties. In these cases, the vendor needs to make it clear what the contract terms are for data retention and use in model training with regards to the third-party services. They have not. In short, a very, very poor data security over one of the most sensitive data assets you have. The final concern I have is that BC changed the terms of use for a licensing I previously paid for, limiting the product to no more than 20 hours of video storage. Previously, there was no limit. That renders the product useless for practical needs in training, bug reporting, etc. I do understand their need to set limits to avoid abuse, but the limit has crippled what was once a decent, if insecure, product. Moreover, it shows a company that has zero respect for it's client. **Recommendations to others considering Berrycast:** As a long-long-long time user of Camtasia, I was a little skeptical of grabbing Berrycast. However, I picked it up due to a very attractive multi-user license offer. Basically, I planned to give this to our team members and fully expected to stick with the tried and true Camtasia. After trialling the software, I realised it fits a very different niche. Unlike Camtasia, it is ideal for quick, on-the-fly recording of tech support, training sessions, team meetings, and whatever else you are working on when you suddenly think: "Hey, other people could use this info in future." Starting a recording takes just two clicks: the first to activate the recorder, the second to select the screen / area you wish to record. Everything else happens automatically, including upload to cloud services for sharing. Once I started using Berrycast, I realised what's I'd been missing. I will still keep using Camtastia for it's brilliant post-video editing capabilities, but day-to-day recordings are all going into Berrycast. **What problems is Berrycast solving and how is that benefiting you?** Bug reporting, creation of learning materials ### 4. But mostly the unreliability and deceitfulness of the company leadership is what I dislike the most. This is particularly frustrating as other services stream flawlessly at this speed, which I've confirmed through multiple tests. Mac Application Glitches: The Mac app for BerryCast is riddled with bugs, frequently becoming unresponsive. This disrupts my workflow and forces me to restart the application, wasting my time. Additionally, the lack of a webcam mirroring option is a considerable oversight for a service that's supposed to be about ease of video communication. Web Interface Limitations: The web interface doesn't allow for bulk operations, which became evident when I attempted to delete 16 videos in one go. Consider the shock and disillusionment when, as a long-time user for 3+ years, you're hit with the news: your account is now limited to a total of an insignificant 20 hours of videos. What's more, you're given a mere two weeks to sort through your content, forced to decide what to keep and what to discard without an export tool provided. This isn't just inconvenient; it's a breach of trust and a total loss in my business for time and money. The announcement about introducing storage caps and slashing seat allowances for the original founding members' accounts feels like a betrayal. It's not the imposition of limits itself that stings the most—it's the broken promises and the erosion of trust. The company portrays these changes as beneficial, suggesting they will somehow enhance our experience, but this is hardly convincing. For those contemplating Berrycast, let this be a warning: no promotion is worth the potential erosion of trust and value that could occur overnight. Regrettably, my advice is to steer clear of Berrycast. What I thought was a good decision turns out to be a major loss of money, time, and due to a loss of all the videos I share with clients, customers, and students — a loss of trust from them as well. Recording computer audio is often missing from tools - but Berrycast automatically recognizes internal audio without installing additional drivers or anything! I love how I can change workstations and still have all of my data in the one account. I love that I'm not tied into a Chrome extension, and how fast it is to install and erase without a trace! Berrycast loads REALLY fast - and is SUPER lightweight! Amazing! I can customize to exactly the options I need, there's no lag - the settings are easy to access - the mouse cursor option is just right - keyboard shortcuts are easy to remember. Berrycast is just enough features without the bloat and super clean and pleasant interface. I'm pleasantly surprised with this software and will be a life-long customer! Also - the comment section is incredible! Guests can comment without logging in, which is great if I'm sending to one person. Users already with a Berrycast account can respond with a video as well! **What do you dislike about Berrycast?** For now, there's no offline saving - i.e. I need to be online to record and upload the videos. Still, the audio and video are saved in the cache on the computer, and playable, but have to stich it together manually. BUT they said offline mode is coming soon - and that's excellent to hear! **What problems is Berrycast solving and how is that benefiting you?** I record a lot of de-bugging videos during development and also trainings where I need to walk clients through how to use software on the computer (screen sharing) and also coaching videos where my face needs to be seen. Maybe a tick box to delete in 3 months or something. It's more of an isue for berry cast more than us, it would bring their overheads down but at the same time help me keep my account tidy. From there - share the video with everyone. This tool has saved me countless hours of explaining, drawing on pieces of paper, and other frustrating experiences. There are a variety of configurable settings to customize your experience. The logo can be turned on or off. The camera can be turned on or off. Pausing and resuming of recording can be done with just a click. And all the video is automatically uploaded while the recording is underway. There is a Teams bolt in as well! **What do you dislike about Berrycast?** There aren't any negative drawbacks to this software - it works as advertised! I sometimes wish that my PC audio worked a little better with their app, but that's my AirPods Max being fussy more than anything. **Recommendations to others considering Berrycast:** If you are looking for an easy-to-use screen recorder that captures EVERYTHING, look no further. It takes mere seconds to have a shareable link with a fully processed and viewable video. It is also easy to share via email and personal link including password protection **What do you dislike about Berrycast?** I would prefer an even tighter Microsoft Teams integration, making use of the normal "sharing" functionality and access permissions of Teams (i.e. sharing with individual people internally / externally, as well as group permissions) . **Recommendations to others considering Berrycast:** When we rolled out Berrycast to users across the company, we also created a small elearning course and gave specific guidance on what videos need to be password protected, and which not.
