I did not appreciate the customer service from Forrest McDonald, a Support Technician at Backblaze.

Before I go further, I take full responsibility for not caring enough to pay attention to the 30 day window that data stays stored on Backblaze.

*For example, if you backup an external hard drive (which was the case for me) and then unplug it, naively thinking it will be stored longer... the service will keep backing up the computer that said external hard drive was connected to and after 30 days, the external hard drive will no longer be backed up.

Where I have a problem is with the way Forrest McDonald addressed this very upset and distraught person, me. In the first email I explained that I was aware of how the service worked and that I wanted to inquire about recovering this lost external HD from the Backblaze side.

Long story short, Forrest repeated himself by literally copy+pasting his last email, and then proceeded to explain the thing I had already stated I understood in the very first email. ALL-IN-ALL, I am a music producer and from my own mistake, lost hundreds of unfinished works and ALSO can attest that Forrest McDonald, has no heart when it comes to others misfortune.

We are in the information age, this is why support and care in a data recovery business is of utmost importance. I am crushed from my mistake and hurt that someone could respond with no solution, or condolences at the least. I will be writing this review in numerous places, and in numerous ways, because the hours that it will take for me to write 20 bad reviews, will in no way compare to how long it took for me to write and produce the music projects I LOST WITH BACKBLAZE. Easy to install.

Resetting a Backblaze password for a client requires knowing the client's old password, so there is not a true admin password reset for departed employees.

Once a Backblaze license is deleted, there is NO RECOURSE to re-assign it to the client. Even with writing to support. The pop-up message doesn't clearly state this. Don't ask how I know...

It's a bit frustrating to have to give full disk permissions to Backblaze on a Mac, but that's Apple's fault, not Backblaze, and Backblaze had good communication about the change with the Mojave update.

The last two backups I downloaded over the internet have had errors when unarchiving. I still need to reach out to support to find out the cause of this issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Backblaze is a great automatic cloud backup storage tool that allows me to rest easy in knowing that all my files are backed up and can be easily retrieved should my hard drive crash or I delete a file that I discover I need again. I love that I can attach an external hard drive to the computer and that will also be backed up regularly. If you forget to turn the computer on or attach the external hard drive for a couple weeks, Backblaze also emails to remind you to connect again to make sure all files are protected. I wish there was a multi-computer plan instead of the per computer plans - a discount for having multiple computers connected would be nice. Sometimes the external hard drive doesn't automatically back up when attached, so I have to manually tell Backblaze to scan and back up the drive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I do wish that it offered mobile back up. The scheduling options are also a bit more sparse and there could be a few more scheduling options added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love so many things about Backblaze. (Things to note: I back up 6TB to the cloud and needed a solution that was fast, simple and reliable.)

2) Able to transfer back up to a different computer (I've already had to do this, and it was so smooth and simple.)

I like that backups with Backblaze are simple, comprehensive, and reliable. Basically, I set Backblaze up on a computer and forget about it.

I also like the security. Knowing that I have my own private key for the backup that secures it from outside sources makes me feel good.

From all the backup solutions I've tested, Backblaze is the best in terms ease-of-use, as well as price tag. While others have complicated pricing models based on traffic, storage, devices, etc, for Backblaze you pay a small amount per device and month. For less than a big Starbucks Latte, you can backup virtually unlimited amounts of data from your computer.

The App is "setup and forget" style, you simply install it, log into your account, and it does the rest for you - automated, in the background, without needing user input.

There is no versioning for backed up files, so it's more useful for saving your data in case of theft or hardware failure, less useful for protecting against unwanted changes to your data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
