**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Hierarchical view of epocs, features and stories, queries and pipelines.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

First, the name itself is too technical for any business stakeholders also to use it. Instead of calling it DevOps, it can be a simpler name if you wanna compete w Monday.com or JIRA.

There is no way to manage the backlog by sprint with hierarchical view. Queries only offer the complete list with just one level of parent.

Wiki is very limited with not much document templates and easy reference.

Attachments in the stories could be readily displayed instead of being hidden in a diff tab.

Overall, the tool is still immature though it has it all in basic stage.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Planning my sprints. It is easier for my team to understand what is needed to be done In the sprint using the tool. The comment function allows me to understand if my team has any doubts about the requirements.

  ### 35. Great tool for managing work items, deployments and code base. Has scope for more integrations.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suraj P. | Technology Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Managing repos and pipelines all at once

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Can have better integration with MS Teams

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

To make the best out of Azure DevOps, here are some of the primary considerations that can act as a checklist:
- How should the source control be integrated with the work items?
- Does your project use deployment pipelines?
- Do you need multiple projects to communicate with each other via work items, source control and deployment phases?
- Does your current DevOps tool provide sufficient integration with communication tools (like Slack, MS Teams, etc.). This integration is one aspect where Azure DevOps can do better.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure DevOps has traditionally been used as VSTS having work item management as well as source control features for the codebase. Now with the additional pipeline integrations, it makes it much easier to use Azure DevOps over alternate tools as the familiar interface makes management tasks very simple.

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

I like the visualization of Azure Dev Ops. It's a great tool if you are familiar with Kanban boards. I also love that you can connect it to PowerBi and create more visuals.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

I don't like the Dashboards page. I find it very difficult to understand and create visuals. For this reason, I decided to connect by ADO Project to PowerBi and create visuals that way.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving prioritization issues. we are looking at scoring projects to find which are most important and going after those first.

  ### 38. Great for executing projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

I like to track my project end to end and it also serves as a great bridge between developers and the business leads. Also many great features you are able to integrate with GIT, Jenkins, and many useful platforms developers use. Another big thing is that it is easy to use and set up which is a key for my company as we are rolling out many projects in a short period of time.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

I am not sure, but the cost might be a concern, I don't know the exact details on that, but I will assume many people turn this service down due to cost.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not solving any problems with it, just utilizing it as it is made.

  ### 39. azure devops helps developers or programmers build frameworks

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

I love the fully automatic CI/CD Integration feature in DevOps

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

I find it annoying when creating projects, and I often experience errors in Azure DevOps when the network is weak

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 40. Solid tool for MS 365

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

User interface is intuitive, functional & stories can be assigned easily with timeline details so that projected completion can be managed.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Reporting for assessing work could be more in depth

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For enterprise MS license users that do not want to seek out alternate options, DevOps is already included in the suite & selected users can gain permissions quickly & easily via invite from the creator acct. Org-wide adoption for larger deptartments is faster than rolling out new system logins, company user setup and/or training. Devs can see task assignment, work from a collective board that is thought out & updated regularly.

  ### 41. A Great Way to Manage Projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** daniel e. | web developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

I love the ability to manage projects and see where they are in a timeline. Also the ability to work with teams within the ADO to approve files is a definite plus. It also allows other agile teams to look at our projects to see where we are in the process, so it gives them an idea how long before they start on their portion of the project. The ability to create test plans is also a great feature we use quite a bit.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

The navigation took some getting used to, some menu items felt like they meant the same thing, but were different. For instance a board tab, but also another one with the same title. It gets a little confusing for someone new to the product. Even after months of use I get stumped on the navigation sometimes.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It centralizes everything we need to finish the job. For example, it has built in support for things we use like node, .NET, JS, and more. We can create tests, run the test, and deploy all in the same program. It's very convenient in that respect. It's also a place where we can all speak on language instead of some people deploying on one program, and others deploying on another.

  ### 42. Easy way to navigate through user stories

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

This if my first time creating and managing user stories. This is a pretty intuitive tool I was able to learn quickly and adapt because of the layout

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

I wish there was a way for my to zoom out or in into the delivery plans. It would be nice if I can get a overall view of the timeline

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the tasks and features that are needed to build our product

  ### 43. One platform for all - People, Products, Process, Pipeline—Azure DevOps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shayan D. | Technology Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Working in multi project scenario needs a devops tool for maintaining automated deployment and a ALM tool for keeping track of the business requirements , and to generate metrics based on various inputs and outputs. Azure devops takes all the burden and helps achieving the above mentioned scenario. Azure DevOps gives real-time communication among teams ensuring efficiency in all stages of the lifecycle. Me as a developer , I find Git integration with azure as a key feature for faster productivity. Integration with development IDEs is also very easy. Another key feature is it provides customization for workflows. Our company uses hybrid waterfall/agile methodology and that is can be well implemented in Azure devops.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

I find azure devops interesting to work with, but there are some drawbacks which the team can work upon like there is no service for document management( Something similar to sharepoint). Compared to other tools like JIRA ,the application is not so much customizable.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

As most of the companies are shifting their interest to automate their build and deployment, so I think robust source code control and devops pipelining is a must. As it comes with ALM features as well projects can be tracked from start to finish with the ability to direct it in correct path. Its also helpful for QA team as they can directly monitor and provide feedback within the product.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure DevOps is the standard at my company and we are using it for source code management and project/requirements management. Recently we are shifting our manual builds to automated builds using some CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Azure devops. Pipeline execution is fast using pipelines in Azure devops and I find its more easier for a person to maintain all the build and deployment parameters using this software.

  ### 44. Consolidate your project management inside Auzre devops

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Integration into Azure Devops is perfect. This allows us to centralize all communication and access for software development inside one tool. The project management tool comes with boards (Kanban) and allows us to create sprints and manage items. Being tightly integrated in Azure Devops, we can link items and take actions within pull requests.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Funkiness between "Bugs" and "Tasks" on the kaban board can remove items from the view

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

If you are using Azure Devops, AzureDevops projects allows you to centralize all project management and development in one location.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Azure Devops for source control and all DevOps items. By using Projects, all our planning is centralized inside the same tool, versus using something external like Jira or Trello. We do not have to pay or manage multiple software licenses and jump through hoops, it is all central.

  ### 45. Excellent management tool for Agile Projects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranshu J. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

With a fairly intuitive interface, Azure DevOps Project makes for an amazing and efficient tool to manage Agile projects. With seamless integration of ADO's CI-CD, repos and testing tools, it also packs in superb additional features from MS ecosystem like use of Flow, PowerApps and PowerBI to run analytics on project stats. User management is also a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Having used other tools in the past like Jira, I honestly did not find any areas to dislike here.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

If you are using Azure data services and cloud and are a part of Microsoft ecosystem then it makes complete sense to consider using Azure DevOps projects for your agile development.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Feature management, release planning, sprint management, task breakdown, in-built CI-CD and automation throw MS Flow. This helps run the project efficiently and having an excellent visibility of status of various items.

  ### 46. An excellent tool for planning and organizing projects.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

The enormous amount of possibilities and interactions that can be achieve

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

the on premise version does not have the possibility of periodic updates.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

its an amazing tool

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The backlog monitoring is resolved in a tool that all team members can view. The problem is that the queries sometimes don't work properly.

  ### 47. Great space for project computation and team updates where we can collate information.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rabith R. | Associate consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Azure DevOps is a great CI/CD tool for development and Operations project. The dashboards, pipelines, repository are the most handy features one can find here. It helps me and my team a lot for our project as we are using Azure DevOps. Whatever updates are given by me r my team mates it can be found here. Report pulling feature is much helpful to track the running of the project. Other tabs like artifacts are also helpful.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Nothing to point out here. Its a great and friendly environment they have setup here.May be they can further more add features from which we can be benefited.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

You can try it yourself and know what best tool it is our project. I would say it is without a great tool Microsoft Azure has to offer. A good environment for project statistics and findings.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for our day to day business updates and requirements. Pipelines of our project, git repositories and so on. It is one stop tool for project where we can see what everyone is up to. Even we can pull reports and filter it according to our needs. The most important thing I have benefited by this is ease of access to our project works. Every Sprint updates and past ones can be viewed here. Backlog tab where in we can have tasks, bugs can be looked into depending on the requirements.Test plans where we can test our build code and deploy it in test environment.

  ### 48. Works great, awesome upgrade from TFS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** zo s. | Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

This has really transformed how our IT team works. We switched over from ServiceNow and our workflow, method of ingesting tickets and entire philosophy how we handle work has been changed. We're not fully agile, but we are slowly getting there and could not have done it with ServiceNow alone. It is really easy in devops for an end user to build filters, queries and reports. It's kind of like PowerBI for an end user, it makes very powerful tools available to a non technical person to make the application work for them without requiring complex coding or behind the scenes action.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

There's really not much to dislike, I am still learning more and more about it since it's such a powerful tool. There can be a couple of glitches here and there with the "find" box hovering over and interfering with the current task/item you're on, but other than that it really works seamlessly.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

Use the trial version and then get the full one. Have a separate board for projects and a separate one for Incidents/Escalations. Make sure your team is on board and get them the training needed, track your hours, build reports using those hours and allocate resources accordingly.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using this to handle our workflow from the business side, for managing projects, for holding requirements, for change control and would resource allocation.

  ### 49. Easy Project Colaboration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

Being able to see all the different PBIs and who is assigned, as well has what progress has been made is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

Not enough easy filtering when the boards have hundreds of thousands of items.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clear communication of progress between team members. Project tracking at its best. Pushing new code or updates causes reports of errors and status updates.

  ### 50. Azure DevOps Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew B. | Web Design Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Azure Boards?**

I appreciate the easy to learn UI within Azure DevOps Projects, allowing for tagging, mentioning people and re-categorizing projects. It is very helpful and efficient. I also appreciate how we can show the progress of each project. Finally, each work item contains it's own thread of communication pertaining to each project's details. This ensures great organization.

**What do you dislike about Azure Boards?**

After the log-in panel in Azure DevOps Projects, the dashboard is another click away. I'd like it to open to where I see my projects defaulted out. Sometimes the click-count can get high trying to find various user panels. However, as a user becomes more acquainted with Azure DevOps Projects, they will soon be able to navigate quite efficiently.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Boards:**

I recommend any team dealing with multiple projects and various types of project details to use Azure DevOps. It allows flexibility to ensure various members of different skill and duty can communicate effectively with each other.

**What problems is Azure Boards solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My team is solving front-end and back-end web development projects for a multi-site, inter-campus college wide district. We have various team members which perform everything from social media updates to programing our CMS. Azure DevOps Projects allows feature requests and bugs to be sent among our team. We then can track the progress, which managers later review. Our team has become more efficient and collaborates better. Getting rid of long email threads which easily become buried has been a joy.
