## Awstats Reviews
  ### 1. AWStats used to be good but has since declined in quality

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

The most significant upside of AWStats is the fact that it is an open-source analyzer tool. It can connect to many kinds of technological infrastructure and provides various backend information.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

With the advent of different analyzer tools in the market, AWStats has not been able to keep up with the technological advancement. The Command Line interface is tedious to work on, its CGI is not user-friendly, and the UI/UX design is old and has not evolved. The competitors of this tool, be it open source or paid, have made a lot of different integrations possible, which AWStats does not support.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I used to handle AWStats, we were using it to determine the number of visitors on our website, what features or pages they looked at, information about the number of recurring users and decide which areas we had to work on to grow those numbers.

  ### 2. It provides Great insights in single UI and more options like geo taking, daily visitor details

  ### 3. General review of Awstats

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Junaid A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

I liked the simplicity of querying through database to get stats. The way the requests can be searched based on details like querystring and all makes it easier to get data.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

I don't remember any downside while I used Awstats. But yes sometimes we faced performance issues fetching the results due to querying the columns which were not indexed.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

If you want to analyze you data like requests, response times etc., go for it. It is very easy to use and you can query the data like any database. I am sure there are other things which Awstats does other than just what I have mentioned.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used to get the production workloads and to identify performance issues of the platform in the company I used to work for. I have gathered data and drilled down get peak hours, customers during peak hours, aggregating response times, requests etc..

  ### 4. Simple and Straightforward Log Analyzer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is easier to use than other Analytic Tools or Log Analyzers available in the market. It gives out the basic details essential for any analytic tools like, referrer, country of origin, browser used and operating system used by the visitor. It can also track ip's of the visitor and also if the visitor is a human visitor or a bot visitor. You can also view detailed time, 24 hours, a month and so on.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

You can not see real time statistics. It should be better if it has that option.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is free. So you can test it out without spending a dime. If you just need basic log data about your visitors and do not want to add any more javascripts that make your site heavier, then Awstats is for you.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Awstats is a log analyzer installed within the server itself and does not add more heaviness to the actual website.

  ### 5. Good Log Analyzer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles U. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is a basic log analyzer that works within server level. A great tool for tracking visitors without compromising the speed of any website. Data is pretty basic but all the necessary analytical components are present. Dashboard is clean and easy to navigate making it so easy to find what kind of analytical data you need.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

Secure and non secure data is separated. Data is not in depth for SEO purposes.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is an excellent additional log tool or alternative tool to your main data analyzer but is not a full replacement if you are into SEO and other purposes not covered by the basic features that Awstats offer.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Awstats became an alternative and extra tool for me to check on data analytics for comparison with my main analytic tool.

  ### 6. Free and Server Level Statistic Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan T. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

I am pretty impressed at how Awstats shows the bandwidth used by a certain visit as we are on a limited bandwidth server. It also records IP addresses of visitors and with this, you can opt out or block unwanted IP's with any 3rd party firewalls. You can also see bots and blocked them on your firewall.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

There is still no available mobile app to access it. You need to login to cPanel or any panel you use just to look for visitors.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

First of all, it is free, so there is no need to worry about wasting money when it does not work for you. The data it provides is pretty basic but it is more clean and easier to find something you need to look at.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Added data from server level for additional observation for security and marketing purposes.

  ### 7. Great Analytic Failover

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Halsy C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is installed at server level, thus helps me out to still get data, even though basic, if there is a major error of the main site and my embedded analytics can not get data from visitors.

Does not have any slow down impact on website as it is installed directly on the server, not on the website layer.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

Just too basic for advance data needed for SEO and marketing purposes.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Better install this for emergencies if you are constantly monitoring your visitors.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A good analytical tool as a failover or even a great comparison tool for my main analytic tool.

  ### 8. Great, Basic Log Analyzer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sally D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Installed at the server, not at the actual website, so there is no significant effect in slowing down your website, unlike other analytic tools which you need to embed their javascript files which adds more weight and slows down any website.

Data given is basic but complete in a sense that it logs almost everything instantly since it is installed at server level.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

Should have the option to add both ssl and non ssl traffic.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Great back up for your main analytic tool. Installed at the server level so, therell be no major slow down to your site.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Awstats became a comparison tool to my other analytic tool. It also became my back up in case primary analytic tool is not functioning well.

  ### 9. Best Bot Visitor Tracking Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Judi H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Since Awstats works at server level, it accurately records bot visits in order for me to see bad bots and block them on our firewall. Yeah, moreover we use Awstats for security purposes at it accurately depicts more of the bots and visitor threats.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

Not a good tool for getting analytics on an in depth manner like for marketing purposes.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is a good additional tool for analyzing visitors. It works at server level which is more better to what else is getting to your server.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking Bad Bots and Ip's so I can block them from our servers.

  ### 10. Good Additional Analytic Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Minh N. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

I like how Awstats track visitors at server level, and not adding any additional weight to your website, thus not slowing down your website.

Awstats just give out basic analytical stats compared to other analytical tools but its simplicity is really clean looking and all the data are easy to read.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

The only thing I hate about it is it separates http and https data.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is good for basic data collection of your visitors, but it does not offer advance features like other analytics tool does.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Awstats for additional data from my current analytics tool.

  ### 11. Check Website Visitors at Server Level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anita B. | Junior Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is a great tool to check site visitors at the server level. The dashboard is way simpler than Google Analytics, and if you are confused about what you see on Analytics, then use Awstats, as it gives a clearer perspective on your visitor data.

It also shows everything from bots and other crawlers, which is a good thing to check whether your site is bombarded by non human visits.

Anyways, we use Awstats primarily for comparing data from Google Analytics.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

It count unique visits after an hour, so expect to have more visitor data on Awstats than on Google Analytics.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is a good companion or data comparison for your other analytics tool.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since awstats collect data from server level, it is a good tool to check crawlers and bots accessing your site.

  ### 12. Good Statistics Tool (Server Level)

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane C. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats takes stats at server level. This is a good option as you will no longer add any script to your website which can add a slow down to your site. Awstats is a good additional tool to compare your analytics with another analytics tool that you have installed on your site to better check where your visitors are coming from or are bots, especially bad bots are hitting your site.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

It is pretty basic, and you can not add any filtering settings you want like in Google Analytics.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is good to compare or analyze a second opinion regarding your analytics.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Awstats, it is a complimentary analytics tool I could rely at server level.

  ### 13. Easy to Analyze, Simple Analytics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lai T. | Assistant Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats gives a simple data for you to understand and analyze your websites visitor behaviors. It is a good analytics tool if you are always in a rush to proceed with a basic report that you immediately need to work on.

Unlike any other analytic tools, Awstats work at the server level. A good thing as it analyzes bots behavior whether its a bad bot or a good bot.

Awstats also records data usage accurately, an excellent thing if you are constantly checking out your bandwidth usage, a very good thing if you are on a limited resource.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

A very good thing to determine bots, but it is not a good tool to tell whether your visitors are reading your content.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

If you are seeing a lot of visitors on your site from your other analytic tool and seem not to be getting any engagement or ads not converting, use Awstats to see whether your visitors are real human visitors.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Determining bots and crawlers that visit our site.

  ### 14. Basic Log Analyzer That Works

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philippe A. | Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is a great additional analytic tool besides your main visitor data collecting tool. It is plain basic and sometimes, I see basic stats clearly with Awstats than my main analytic tool, because it is more simple and easy to find. Not much in depth settings to tinker when checking data, just a straightforward display of what it logs.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

They should at least combine or have an option to combine both ssl and http traffic.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is a very useful tool for basic data. Easy to use and its free.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Awstats became a comparison to the data it provides with my other analytic tool.

  ### 15. Analytics on Server Level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nimmit H. | Technical Support Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Awstats is a great and free analytic tool that has been around for some time now. It counts visits within server level, a good data to compare if you have any other analytic tool installed on the website.

Awstats tracks unique visits within 1 hour, if a visitor ends up on your site again after an hour, that will count as 2.

What I do like about Awstats is that it can better recognize unknown bots by tracking a visitors behaviour.

It can also record visitors that are blocking Javascript codes of other analytic tools like Google Analytics. So having Awstats is a really good thing to compare data.

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

I like their segmentation of http from https visits, and subdomains, and subdomain http and https visits, but I do hope they can also make a data that you could filter combinations between all those options.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Awstats is an Okay analytic tool, if you are pretty serious about getting information from tracking tools, use Awstats combined with your other analytic tool.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking data which is not tracked by Google Analytics.

  ### 16. Best free stats collection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Awstats?**

Once setup, there's nothing you need to do to maintain it. Review the data collected overtime

**What do you dislike about Awstats?**

Takes time to set it up but as long as you know what you are doing, there should not be an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Awstats:**

Best free tool to implement. If you dont have an in-house engineer to implment it, you can always get outside support. I manage to install it myself. Once it's install and setup you will see the benefit of this tool.
There's almost close to nothing to maintain it. This tool will provide valuable infos to your marketing tema and also the web developers. They will appreciate the tool overtime. At first they were a bit skeptical but once the data starts to populate. they will start to appreciate. I woudl suggest not to let the users use this tool immediately but instead let the tool collect the data overtime. Or unless you know how to process the historical logs than you will have all the previous months handy for them to review.

**What problems is Awstats solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Look at the highest 404 being capture for the month. Also be able to identify peak traffic during the days of the week and also the time of the say. Additionally able to identify users trend as which browser to use
