What do you like best about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

1. Shows the current RI Pool across service types

2. Use cost explorer with RI reporting to identify services which can be converted to RI from PAYG and quantify savings

3. RI coverage alert in case of expirations to purchase more RI.

4. Easy to use portal leading to frequent use

What do you dislike about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

1. The unused capacity reporting can be better.

2. Since the org uses RI and Savings plan (SP), the combined/unified reporting could save us some time spent on analyzing them together, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS Reserved Instance Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?

AWS Reserved Instance Reporting tool enabled us to get a holistic view of all the purchased RIs, inventory pool, their allocations and gave us alerts in case of lower coverage because of expirations. We used the data from the reporting tool to quantify savings that we could achieve because of reservations and impart those cost/savings as chargebacks to the user accounts. What do you like best about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

How easy it is to check on your RI Utilization to make sure you're using it to it's full potential Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

If you have a new RI, it may say you aren't using it at 100% if the report you're looking at starts before the instance was created. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering AWS Reserved Instance Reporting:

If you plan on using AWS infrastructure for a long time, go ahead and request a RI with no upfront commitment and it'll save a lot of money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS Reserved Instance Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

I am able to quickly see "yes/no" on whether i'm using the reserved instanced I've purchased. I can integrate with my cost explore dashboard and see everything in one place. I have the ability to use roles to allow finance team to get information directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

Would like more granularity out of the box. It is getting better though as updates come in. I would like to eventually get to more of a "applet" design where there is more out-of-the-box style reports. If you are utilizing reserved instances, you have to be using the product to fully justify your usage and understand where you are going. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS Reserved Instance Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have to be able to report each month to the finance team our utilization and "justification" of purchases. The University is under state requirement to be migrating to the cloud and utilizing resources efficiently. Reserved instances are key to this, and understanding our usage is critical! What do you like best about AWS Reserved Instance Reporting?

Reserved instances allow us to have capacity set in advance so that we are able to save money on non-ad hoc projects. Reporting helps us understand the utilization levels to cut or up capacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our data science and DevOps leads were often at odds about reporting accuracy. Would like to have been able to see more of who was doing what related to instances to help settle disputes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS Reserved Instance Reporting solving and how is that benefiting you?

Management of AWS costs is an extremely important task for software or data crunching companies. It's hard to find cheaper processing than AWS and reserved instances and knowledge of their use help us optimize it as best as possible.
