It is very easy to setup data migrations between different databases and services and is user-friendly once you learn.We are able to load GBs of data very quickly and easily. AWS DMS is used when we want to get all our data from one data base to other when we want to migrate this AWS service is used. The best thing I like is if I want to do manually , then I need to copy all the tables , all the statements from old data base to new , which can take long time but through DMS I need to mention source and destination database and replication instance copies data from old to new . I dont need to struggle much. It even takes care of schema conversion as well , which means if source is relational and destination is non relational , DMS takes care of it. I tried to switch the data base from AWS RDS (MYSQL) to Dynamo DB , If I have to do manually then I must copy all the tables , primarykeys , procedures which takes lot of time but using DMS with in 10-15 mins data from RDS copied to Dynamo DB though schemas are different. Easy to use Robust Give flexibility for both Full load and CDC load Can work on multiple data sources Maintain all types of flags in data like Insert, Update and Delete Overall, my experience with DMS is excellent, and there is significantly less scope for data loss. I recently faced one issue where it failed to parse the JSON object because that JSON has multiple line breaks. So while reading the JSON, it was giving null as output. And another which I faced was while reading the GeoSpatial coordinates. So for this issue, I changed the source column datatype from geometry to string, and it's also a known issue to the AWS team. We use this tool to read the data from Postgresql and MongoDB databases, replicate all the tables using the AWS DMS, and store the Data in the S3 bucket. Veeam Backup helps take a periodic snapshot of DB Instances. Those snapshots can be exported or migrated to other regions, allowing quick replication or spawning new instances in case of failure or disaster. It maintains high availability and minimal downtime. What do you dislike about AWS Database Migration Service? AWS Database Migration Service is great for migrating on-prem Database, EC2 DB or AWS RDS to AWS AuroraDB or vice versa. What problems is AWS Database Migration Service solving and how is that benefiting you? Our services run on-prem, which persists data into the on-prem SQL server 2019. During our cloud migration process, we used AWS Database Migration Service to move our on-prem DB to AWS AuroraDB with minimal downtime by using Veeam Backup for storing snapshots for failsafe recovery.
