We are using AWS CodeDeploy to deploy the containerized application inside the fleet of ec2 instances. The setup is very easy as we just have to add the scripts required for pulling the updated container images and running. We can choose multiple deployment strategies like one-at-a-time or all-at-once. We can also restrict the traffic from the load balancer to the instance which is going through the deployment process. This helps us in reducing the downtimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setting up CodeDeploy can be very difficult for beginners as the UI is not very friendly and you just have to run through multiple blogs. Most of the Code Deploy features are only for the AWS services like EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, and ECS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

So many options that Code Deploy provides. I can use it to deploy any application, be it in python or nodejs or even java. The configuration files are also easy to write. As code deploy supports deployment to S3 as well as EC2 instance, it works for all my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When it comes to on-prem deployment, I have faced several issues with code deploy. I have not got support from their support team either. One more thing that I hated about code deploy was when trying to deploy in a restrictive VPC environment, and the documentation is not clear on what sort of IAM role I need in that scenario Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is found for me a little bit costly to set and use . and the thing I do not like is that it is complicated to set as it is not providing user-friendly UI to set it up Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A customer's architecture includes both on-premises and AWS cloud components. Both on-premises and in the AWS cloud, instance groups are available. The customer wants to automate and streamline the deployment process for both instance groups. This can be achieved using AWS Code-Deploy.
We can choose an in-place / blue-green deployment strategy that is appropriate for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The truth is that the majority of its capabilities are exclusive to AWS only. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

CodeDeploy provides a simple way to deploy code onto instances and allows you to get up and running fairly quickly. Being a managed service, it also meant that no new deployment infrastructure was needed to administer drastically reducing running as well as cost to serve. CodeDeploy's deployment options allow for modern deployment practices so you have options for agile ways of getting your code out to customers. AWS documentation is well crafted, up to date and easy to follow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setup and packaging aren't as easy as possible, and the UI isn't as responsive as other deploy products. The agent install is a simple process to bake into an image, and the configuration file does allow some customization during the deployment process however CodeDeploy can feel limited when compared to more estabilished deployed products. Having used AWS Codedeploy for a variety of projects, I can say that the Continuous Deployment solution to go for while deploying cloud-native applications. I personally love the Blue/Green deployment feature that it provides out of the box! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that most of its features are only AWS specific. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Great support for blue green deployments. Also rolling deployments support comes with a great deal of flexibility if you’re using EC2.
Integration with Amazon’s compute services just works as you’d expect it, therefore if your workload is mostly on AWS you’ll see more benefit from CodeDeploy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Console UI not very friendly.
Integrating with CI tools outside AWS I remember being difficult, i.e if you’re not using CodeDeploy with CodePipeline the experience may not be as good and you’ll probably need bespoke tooling in place to make things work, which kinda defeats the point of less maintenance overhead.
