**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2022

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

The best thing I like is the integration with the other software like Unity. Creating thing is very easy with Google AR. Motion tracking, Environmental understanding is super cool feature of this.

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

In starting it is taking time for plane or surface detection also, scanning large-scale virtual objects sometimes slows down things. I think Human body detection is not that great as it can improve more.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were creating a game through ARcore as AR-app functionality on a wide range of Android devices which ARCore has made it possible to do, so that we can give better customer experience .

  ### 6. Moderate features

  ### 7. Reasonable features for basic AR, not competitive with ARKit currently

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rob F. | Virtual Reality Developer - VR Mindfulness on Oculus Quest 1 + PCVR, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2021

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

The plane, feature point and environmental light estimation features are great out the box for fast-tracking basic AR experiences.
Developer samples for Unity game engine have been very useful also for quick iterative development of AR experiences and apps
Image tracking is reliable and easy to set up for image tracking based AR experiences
Facial tracking is reliable and robust using the Augmented Faces features to track a user's face using smartphone cameras

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

ARCore feature sets are behind ARKit, where ARkit has capability for human occlusion, human body tracking and also ARCore does not support Vulkan rendering which has limited our capacity to use it on projects that would benefit from Vulkan. There needs to be more standardization of ARCore/ARKit features for us developers as this holds back the whole AR development as a whole.

Google Mediapipe looks to be a better replacement for ARCore long-term, I don't get why Mediapipe and ARCore aren't merged. If we could unlock features like ARcore on more devices which are not supported by ARCore it would benefit development and usability of our applications.

**Recommendations to others considering ARCore:**

Consider whether you need ARCore-specific features or AR standard features that are available across ARCore/ARKit

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consumer AR-app functionality on a wide range of Android devices - now ARcore is well established as the standard for Android AR.
Environment lighting and depth estimation in the newest release have unlocked better grounding of 3d objects in AR for our app users
Any experience where we rely on an image, a point in the user's space or environmental understanding to ground and realize the user experience within a user's space.
Facial recognition through ARCore has helped us make apps for cosmetic and accessory try-ons by augmenting 3d and 2d content over the user's face or body.

I like the Instant placement feature also. it give me to place the 3D objects in the real world in any placement. I used it with AR foundation because i am a Unity Developer so use the AR Foundation and build AR apps for both Android and IOS!

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

I dont have any dislike for this just have to know about that why ARCore is not provided more features for AR Developers? i think google needs to work on this SDK more because AR is the future of next generation.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use ARCore to developer one K12 Kids book app which is gives the kids a real world objects when kids scan the book. it has character from A to Z and put the 3D objects in it.
another one is that i use the instant placement feature of the ARCore which gives the user to place any objects like table or chair in the real world size in their home.

  ### 13. AR Core is a great sdk to start creating AR apps

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I m creating an app to detect Breast Cancer and perform self breast examination with AI and AR.
It has a lot of different features which aren't available with other similar sdks. The floor scaning and the placement of AR objects is really fast.

  ### 14. Indoor navigation (Unity + ARCore)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2021

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

We developed indoor navigation with a local map and event points for the factory. We had very limited deadlines. Everything was developed on the Unity engine. I was very pleased ARCore with its rapid integration. Also, many things such as environment auto-correction and anchors worked very well, significantly reducing development time.
One of the big pluses is control. We could easily control the AR session, markers, and all features from SDK.

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

Throughout the development, we wanted to be able to check the AR sessions immediately in the editor without the need to build all the time. The first time it was breathing a minus. Because we were just starting to work with ARCore and we had to do a lot of tests.
Also not a pleasant moment was the loss of tracking. Especially if the room is not enough light or it contains monotonous walls. However, this was not a big stopper, we just showed users a message that the tracking was lost and the user needs to scan the nearest marker.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we managed to solve was to create a quality product in a short time. We looked at several technologies to take as a basis, and only ARCore approached us on all requirements.
And for more than two years, our team has been developing different applications based on ARCore, and it has never failed.

  ### 15. Begin your AR journey with ARCore!

  ### 21. My Experience With ARCore

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lakshya D. | Application Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2020

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

I am a beginner in android development and I was able to follow the document at a good pace.
It has lots of features to simplify the development task such as auto plane detection, one tap to anchor object, light detection and shadow rendering etc.
Great for beginners and hopefully for experts likewise.

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

While trying out the applications on multiple devices, I found out that most of them didn't support this platform hence it has very small percentage of compatible devices at this point.
I am sure the number of devices supporting this platform are increasing even as I write this and hopefully soon enough we can see the full power of this platform in common tasks and day-to-day use.

**Recommendations to others considering ARCore:**

Some time after I started using AR Core, I found out that storing .sfb and object files locally on the app was a bad idea as the app size increases with every addition of a new object.
Instead, try out hosting these remotely and fetching them as and when required.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was experimenting with AR Core along with Sceneform to see what Augmented Reality has to offer.
I think it can be leveraged in retail and marketing to enhance user experiences.

  ### 22. My go to solution for markerless AR

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** amar a. | Research Assistant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2020

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

Really amazing for markerless AR! Detects a lot of feature points in the scene and works in a stable manner for the most part. One of the best to be used in the current AR framework, with a range of features to generate an accurate ar app like anchoring objects in 3d space, scaling line with changing contexts, and adjusting to different lighting. It's also simple to understand the supporting documents and assist folk community out there. The documentation is rich in terms of laying the foundation for new beginners to follow the lead

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

The device support is not that great, sometimes tracking is lost for no apparent reason. As in my observation, the tracking and attaching seem unreliable when we use a large scale virtual entity. Depth occlusion needs improvement.

When using the technology in devices powered by Low-end ARCore, I have faced some system heating problems.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Really amazing for markerless AR! Detects a lot of feature points in the scene and works in a stable manner for the most part

  ### 24. My thoughts on using ARCore

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prabhu G. | Unity Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2020

**What do you like best about ARCore?**

The SDK is easy to setup and API documentation is also good. The light estimation and tracking work very well. We can create realistic looking AR experiences using AR Core. We can use anchoring and spatial understanding capabilities of AR core to place virtual objects in the real world. These works pretty well when paired with high-end mobile devices. I think AR Core has a slightly better mapping algorithm (SLAM) than other competitors. AR Core SDK is also available for iOS platform which is a good thing.

**What do you dislike about ARCore?**

As in my experience, if we use large scale virtual object the tracking and anchoring seem unstable. The depth occlusion of AR Core needs to be improved.
While using the technology in Low-end ARCore supported devices, I have faced some device heating issues.

**Recommendations to others considering ARCore:**

AR Core is simple to setup and developer friendly. Do give it a try.

**What problems is ARCore solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using AR Core to develop marker-less AR app experiences for automotive industry. AR annotation helps to find points of interest and user can easily able to see and understand the mechanisms without interacting with physical objects.
