There is a learning curve due to many drop-downs and buttons that lead to several places. Great workflow tool but customization could be easier **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Michael B. | Senior Account Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2021 **What do you like best about Archer?** RSA Archer met my team's needs for building out a Vendor Risk Management program, allowing full control and build out of our customized workflows for all SMEs and stakeholders. **What do you dislike about Archer?** Although the platform allowed for customization and met our team's needs, it was very nuanced to create the custom dashboards + necessary approval workflows and required multiple resources on our end including hiring a full-time dedicated Archer RSA expert on our team, who dually worked as the primary admin, and contracting with multiple consulting firms for many years to assist in the build out. **Recommendations to others considering Archer:** Do your due diligence to best understand what likely are the capital budgeting requirements to onboard and implement this system for your program needs, especially the ongoing support needs + costs. **What problems is Archer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Creating a full end to end vendor risk management program allowing for systematic review, documentation repository, approval, annual risk review and renewal capabilities with workflows to all relevant SMEs by vendor type and risk score weighting. ### 6. It also became complication to figure out the structure of the application once it grew to a larger scale. **Recommendations to others considering Archer:** If you need an application for tracking capiblities, RSA Archer can get you there, but if you're looking for something with more customization not out-of-the-box, I would look elsewhere. **What problems is Archer solving and how is that benefiting you?** I utilized it to track vulnerabilities for the government's cyber security team. It was beneficial for our team because it provided simple to use interface for tracking issues. The ability to use workflows helped as well for efficiency. ### 8. Certain customization has to be made in order for it to be useful and understandable. Also, sometimes it would not work on IE even though it states that the most compatible Internet Browser to be used is IE. I have to jump among IE, Chrome, and Firefox sometimes in order to make certain function works. **Recommendations to others considering Archer:** RSA Archer is a powerful tool from GRC perspective. However, additional customization may have to invest in order for this tool to be more user friendly. **What problems is Archer solving and how is that benefiting you?** Security Governance and Compliance. This tool is helpful when conducting comprehensive security assessments. ### 9. It is used enterprise-wide and is a key part of doing any work with a third party. We have used different versions of RSA Archer over the years and the team is trying to get the application to the most current platform/release. **What do you dislike about Archer?** There are a couple limitations that does not benifeit or assist with our company that ca. Be improved but it’s a very great tool we use and we believe we will see updates in the near future **What problems is Archer solving and how is that benefiting you?** It provides a central point to store all IT Risk Policies and any active exceptions to those policies. This allows the user to manage their exceptions and submit new items as needed. ### 10. We use it mainly at the conclusion of an audit to upload all our files, and send items through a workflow for review and approval. It is very customizable - we have frequently requested changes be made to the interface and they have been completed. **What do you dislike about Archer?** Because it is so customizable, initially it can feel "clunky" and difficult to navigate, but through customizing, it becomes much more user friendly. **Recommendations to others considering Archer:** It's definitely worth looking into if you are on an older system like GRC. Often, work is lost due to user error or the occasional system error.
