What do you like best about ArcGIS for SharePoint?

ArcGIS Maps for SharePoint comes with every bell and whistle possible for mapping. ESRI is king of mapping. With that said, all the options are not always needed, and sometimes the additional options make it difficult to complete a project. What do you like best about ArcGIS for SharePoint?

You can share ArcGIS mapping without having to give every viewer an account, but still share inside a contained environment.

The ability to build the app into our existing project storage and management platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ArcGIS for SharePoint?

Severely limited functionality compared to ArcGIS desktop and less capability than ArcGIS Online - would be great to have 3d.

Occasional problems with signing in and out - possibly due to hosting environment though (Office 365). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering ArcGIS for SharePoint:

This app has been around a while but lacks investment and attention from ESRI, when compared to their other products. It is a great add-on if using ESRI products already, but I would not purchase ESRI licensing purely to use this App. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ArcGIS for SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using ArcGIS Maps for SharePoint to streamline project resources, by not having to provide separate links and locations to web mapping resources to non-mapping professionals.

We have realised additional benefits, such as:

- Enhancing traditionally non-visual information such as a list of office locations, with a map

- Interconnectivity with other software, such as PowerBI, for analytics

- Reduction in the number of tasks for our technicians, as specialists can find mapping information easily and directly themselves, negating the need for a traditional map request. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ArcGIS for SharePoint?

ArcGIS Maps for SharePoint allow better communication across disciplines for architectural and engineering work. With the ability to customize maps & different data, it is a very useful tool for market research and presentation of data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We ran into several technical difficulties because the help on the ArcGIS Maps software did not have a good call system during orientation and training. This is why we are no longer using the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Please consider the quality of technical support when selecting your software for usage. It makes a huge difference in the implementation, and in this case it caused us to give up on using the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
