I find Appgate SDP to be very powerful and flexible in terms of configurability. The configuration data model is simple to understand, which makes it much easier to handle. I appreciate how easy it is to provision new Appgate Gateways and other Appliances to the Appgate collective. The networking requirements for communication between these Appliances are straightforward to implement, partly because Appgate implements SPA and simplifies firewall rules. I also like that every resource in Appgate is autonomous, allowing for easy creation and editing, which provides a clean separation of concerns and contributes to the reliability of the entire system. I do not have much complaints about Appgate SDP, but I could mention a few things. When signing in to the AppGate Client, since we have a large number of entitlements and AppGate Gateways, it can take a little while to establish all connections. If signing back in is required and this happens during the workday, there can be a short period of time when protected services are not accessible. Also, we have to maintain our own separate service to query group memberships of users in order to configure Access Policies based on groups. In addition to our own users, we sometimes setup access for our clients to get to very specific resources. License management can sometimes be challenging if you have a number of clients needing access for short periods of time because each connection consumes a license for 30-days. Appgate is very powerful but still very flexible. You can deploy it in several different ways and cover any scenario. You can protect any type of device or Software, from servers and IOT devices to SaaS platforms.

You have total control of the solution reducing the need to trust 3rd parties when it comes to security or availability.

AppGate is highly advanced and offers multiple integration options, such as with an external SIEM integration system. It also comes with extensive documentation, and the configuration process is not particularly challenging. There is an option to enable two-factor authentication for both end users and administrators accessing the panel. It allows for setting various policies for individual users as well as the entire organization, providing flexibility for companies. Additionally, the end-user experience is extremely simple and requires virtually no interaction beyond logging in. While providing extremely secure network access, it is also very friendly to use for both Admins in configuration and users for access. Appgate is also a favorite vendor of mine because of their scheduled monthly follow up meetings. I wish all vendors did this. Most of the time they are very quick, nothing to report from our end, but even on those it gives me a chance to find out latest features, or triggers something in my past month that I have as a question. The only negative thing I would say is I wish there were template/defaults during the initial setup, expansion. You have to configure access to IP/Ports and I would think there would be some standard templates for things like Print Servers, Windows File Servers, etc. - but we had to trial/error some things.
