"Robust solver that I have used"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

It is the best robust solver that is more suitable for the turbomachinery applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

It lacks some of the k-epsilon family turbulence models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"ANSYS CFX Review"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

The only thing that makes ANSYS CFX different and unique from Ansys Fluent is its utility that allows the user to directly enter the profile(eg. parabolic) of parameters like velocity instead of writing a User Defined Function for the same

The GUI of CFX is pleasing to the eye and at the same time user friendly, making it a lot easier to identify the required fields.

It comes with a post processing utility(CFD-Post) which has a lot of features to post process the results and use expressions, planes, etc to compute derived parameters. Contours colors are pleasing to the eye! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

It does not have its own meshing utility and the mesh needs to be imported from other utility such as Fluent Meshing/ICEM CFD. But since it is a solver in itself, I would not consider it as a disadvantage. Rest all is up to the mark as far as functionality is concerned.

One thing which I think they can do is provide flexibility to the user modify the stuffs inside the black box based on the requirement of their problem as is the case with OpenFOAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ansys CFX for refrigeration companies"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

Multi-phase modeling, User functions, and GUI. It is very easy and intuitive.

The numerical scheme is based on Finite Volume Methods. It supports multi-phase flows with no mass transfer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

ANSYS CFX does not support boiling and condensation under their multi-phase models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easier to work than Ansys Fluent"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

The interface of Ansys CFX is much neater than Ansys Fluent. I found it much easier to define materials and boundaries in CFX. Also, this will allow me to get much more accurate results compared to a simples Thermal transient analysis Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

The main issue, in my opinion, is the lack of deep information readily available for every user. Sometimes you need to email them and this will take time to solve the issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flow analysis of turbo machines"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

In the CFX, adaptive networking can be used for GGI interfaces and single domains without restricted physics.

It is a software that has a very high performance in turbo machines and has proven itself in this field.

CFX is particularly good for turbo machine and solid multiphase problems as it can solve combined volume fractions. And common grid interfaces are very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

CFX can't handle a true 2D mesh geometry. It can handle a pseudo-2D mesh which would be a 1 element thickness 3D mesh geometry.

Gpu usage is not available for CFX. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Advanced simulations with great results for what is required in CFD"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

The simulations obtained are very advanced, showing great results in the movement of fluids in the different states from which an understanding of their movement dynamics is required. I had the opportunity to perform fluid analysis in convergent-divergent nozzles for the study of shock waves that occur in supersonic flow and obtained impressive and illustrative results of the thermodynamic properties that occur in such flow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

Many times errors occur in modeling that are not easy to detect, and generally not much help is available to start using the software, which is a bit annoying at the beginning. The processing requirements are a bit high, so a good computer is needed to run the simulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helped me improve my computional skills"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

Post Processing is very helpful. Downsides so many steps of process for loading the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

Not specifically, Downsides is the process of running simulations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best thermal Simulation software"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

The software allows me to make thermal efficiency calculations which is very necessary for the mechanical engineering industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

The simulations sometimes take a long time to run and that increases computational cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"easy to use "
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

The name of the function I need to use in the fluent module is itself a self-explanatory. I do not need to learn this tool from someone else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

For the 3-D model with the high number of grid point, it requires huge time to run and also need high memory. I understand that it's the requirement for this tool. However, this is the thing which mostly irritating me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very convenient"
What do you like best about Ansys CFX?

Ansys Cfx is a very simple looking program- with power. The simulations are easily set up and you can check the results fastly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ansys CFX?

Some empirical constants/variables are not explained in the documentation, so it's a try and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
