Amazon's transcoder is one of their simplest-to-use products but it packs a solid technical punch. It does require some knowledge to configure just right, but there are some sensible defaults as well, so you don't need to dive too deeply into the details if you don't want to. I like that Elastic Transcoder is fully integrated into our AWS workflow. And it's FAST. The same AWS credentials I use for S3 work for Elastic Transcoder, so there is less configuration you have to keep track of. Also, it supports all the essential codecs including MP4, WMV, and WEBM. I don't like that Elastic Transcoder doesn't support adaptive bit rate (ABR) encoding. Apple requires HLS when we serve clips from our iOS app. We use AWS MediaEncode also to build our ABR profiles.
