## About Altair Feko
Altair Feko™ is a high-frequency electromagnetic simulation software used for antenna design, placement and system-level analysis in complex environments. It enables multi-scale electromagnetic simulation, design and optimization, from RF components and antennas to full systems and real-world scenarios. Altair Feko is widely used to address challenges in wireless connectivity, electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) and radar analysis, particularly for electrically large and complex problems, and can be extended to broader connectivity workflows through integrated modules. Key capabilities • Multiple solvers in one environment: A broad range of methods (MoM, FEM, PO, MLFMM, etc.) are integrated within a single platform, enabling flexibility and cross-validation. • Advanced hybrid solver technology: Efficiently combines different numerical methods to solve complex, electrically large models that are difficult to address with a single solver. • Scalable performance: Supports parallel computing across multi-core CPUs and GPU acceleration to efficiently handle large-scale simulations. • Antenna integration and system-level analysis: Enables realistic modeling of antennas on complex platforms, including full-system electromagnetic interactions. • Specialized applications: Includes capabilities for characteristic mode analysis (CMA), cable modeling, EMI/EMC studies, radar cross section (RCS), and wireless propagation. Also supports wireless coverage and spectrum management through integrated modules such as WinProp™ and WRAP™. • Optimization and automation: Supports design exploration and automation through parameter studies, optimization workflows and integration with high-performance computing (HPC). • End-to-end electromagnetic workflows: Covers the full simulation process from geometry preparation and antenna modeling to system-level analysis and post-processing. Typical use cases • Antenna design and placement on complex platforms such as vehicles and aircraft • EMI/EMC analysis in complex electronic systems • Radar cross section (RCS) and scattering analysis • Wireless coverage and propagation studies, including 5G/6G scenarios • Cable harness and radome analysis in integrated systems Value for engineering teams Altair Feko helps engineering teams design and validate connected products by improving wireless performance, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility, and reducing development cycles. ## Altair Feko Reviews
  ### 1. Familiar Interface, Fast Setup, and Accurate Simulations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** HUBERT ROMAN W.

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Altair Feko?**

I like the interface of Altair Feko because it's similar to other Altair products, making it easier for me to know where most of the functions are. I find the disposition of buttons and how everything is structured in the interface particularly helpful. Additionally, the software allows fast simulation setup with results that seem realistic and are able to correlate correctly with reality. I also really like the meshing capabilities, which I believe are some of the best in the market.

**What do you dislike about Altair Feko?**

I dislike some bugs, such as segmentation errors that sometimes tend to make me angry. It happens that the program crashes sometimes, making the user lose progress if not saved, which is sometimes frustrating.

**What problems is Altair Feko solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Altair Feko allows fast simulation setup with results that realistically correlate with reality. The familiar interface is a huge advantage, making it easy to locate functions, and I really like the meshing capabilities.

**Official Response from Sarthak Kumar:**

> Hello Hubert, Thank you for your feedback on Simcenter Feko. We're pleased to hear that you find the interface familiar and the simulation setup fast. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the bugs and crashes, and we are actively addressing these issues.

  ### 2. Fast and Easy to Use, with Room to Grow

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Altair Feko?**

It is fast and easy to use. In addition to the full wave solvers, it also provides asymptotic methods such as PO.

**What problems is Altair Feko solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We utilize Altair Feko as a cornerstone of our EM labs and antenna courses to bridge the gap between complex electromagnetic theory and real-world engineering applications. By providing an intuitive environment that students can master quickly, Feko enables our learners to focus on physical intuition, such as radiation patterns and reflection coefficients, rather than struggling with the software interface.

**Official Response from Sarthak Kumar:**

> Hello, Thank you for sharing your experience with Altair Feko. We are glad to hear that it has been beneficial in bridging the gap between theory and real-world applications for your EM labs and antenna courses. We take your feedback about the software interface into consideration for future enhancements.

**Reviewed by:** Agniswar M. | Sales Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Altair Feko?**

To optimize wireless connectivity, including 5G, ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and perform radar cross section (RCS) and scattering analysis.

**What do you dislike about Altair Feko?**

FEM region is bounded with an integral equation based boundary condition to ensure full coupling between the FEM and MoM solution areas of the problem.

**What problems is Altair Feko solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is based on the Method of Moments (MoM) integral formulation of Maxwell's equations and pioneered the commercial implementation of various hybrid methods such as:
Finite Element Method (FEM) / MoM where a FEM region is bounded with an integral equation based boundary condition to ensure full coupling between the FEM and MoM solution areas of the problem.
MoM / Physical Optics (PO) where computationally expensive MoM current elements are used to excite computationally inexpensive PO elements, inducing currents on the PO elements. Special features in the FEKO implementation of the MoM/PO hybrid include the analysis of dielectric or magnetically coated metallic surfaces.
MoM / Geometrical Optics (GO) where rays are launched from radiating MoM elements.
MoM / Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD) where computationally expensive MoM current elements are used to excite canonical UTD shapes (plates, cylinders) with ray-based principles of which the computational cost is independent of wavelength.
A Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) solver was added in May 2014 with the release of FEKO Suite 7.0.
