Descartes Aljex Reviews & Product Details

I’ve been using Descartes Aljex for the past five to six years as a freight broker agent, and what I like best is how simple and easy it is to use. The MacroPoint integration makes tracking shipments easy, and I can quickly look up past loads, carrier details, and customer information. Everything I need is in one place Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sometimes I have to remove a leading zero from an MC number to find the carrier. I also have trouble copying drivers’ cell phone numbers because they don’t always paste correctly, so I end up typing them manually. I’d like to be able to copy and paste those numbers reliably. We’ve used many TMS systems, and I can honestly say Aljex has been the best. It has everything we need, all in one place, which makes it easy to manage without jumping between different tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My only complaint is that uploading documents sometimes takes a couple of clicks before it registers. I honestly think it’s a glitch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Aljex is a very clean and clear-cut TMS. Functionality is great and dependability is unmatched! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not very pretty but functional. The software appears dated on the eye test. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like best that it integrates macropoint into the load information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I least like that you have can't do almost everything right in the load and that you have to go to other screens if you want to do something like add a comdata code. I would also like there to be a way to see distance from the shipper like you can see distance from the consignee. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find Descartes Aljex very user-friendly, especially appreciating the ability to adjust the board to my preference. The layout helps me stay organized and I love being able to quickly look through my board and see customer, pickup/delivery, rates, and carrier all in one place without having to scroll, which saves a bit of time. The initial setup was easy from my understanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Well for drayage specifically - There isn't a Steamship Line, or Railroad carrier box - and batch building is limited to 10 only. My request would be to add those areas in, and also when batch building - if drayage - allow the containers number to be input in side bars to go ahead and create each duplicated load with a corresponding container number. Would save time and be more efficient Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how the statuses in Descartes Aljex are color-coded. It allows me to skim over our entire load board and quickly determine the status of each load just by looking at the color. This is really helpful because we currently have over 50 loads on our board, and without the color coding, it would be a lot to read through. Additionally, the initial setup of Descartes Aljex was very easy because I've used other TMS's before, so I already knew most of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I want to be able to copy and paste PU#'s, REF#'s, and/or any container number that I may need directly from the board without clicking into the load. Adding accessorials for drayage loads can be a little clunky and time-consuming sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The integration with Highway provides an extra layer of security and efficiency, allowing for the swift, automated syncing and updating of verified carriers with minimal manual input. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While generally considered user-friendly, some specific functionalities, like the split-screen option, reportedly don't work as smoothly as expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really appreciate some of the newer improvements in Descartes Aljex. The interface feels faster and more intuitive, and the visibility into carrier compliance has become even more reliable. The system’s automation—especially around carrier onboarding, document tracking, and alerts—has noticeably improved my workflow. Overall, it continues to make managing freight smoother, smarter, and more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I’ve been using Aljex for quite some time, and one thing that has always stood out is how little support I’ve ever needed. The system has been straightforward, reliable, and intuitive enough that I’ve never had to reach out for help. That alone speaks volumes about the software’s design and usability.

In terms of dislikes, I honestly can’t think of any major issues. My experience has been largely positive, and the platform has consistently delivered what I need without creating unnecessary complications. While there is always room for any software to grow or add new features, Aljex has been solid and dependable in my workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that Descartes Aljex meets all of our invoicing needs, and the reports are very helpful. I have been working in Aljex Classic since 2005 and enjoy the option to continue using it while other team members use Vision. There are a few tasks I can complete easier in Classic compared to Vision, and some team members rely on me for tasks that only Classic supports. The initial setup of Descartes Aljex was very easy for our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In the past, I could pull up a PDF from the public/private file with one key. Now I have to copy and paste a link and open it in a browser. Not a hard task, it was just much easier/time-saving the old way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how Descartes Aljex brings structure and visibility to transportation operations. It makes managing dispatching, load status, carrier coordination, and shipment updates much easier without spreading everything across emails or manual trackers. I appreciate that it keeps the workflow consistent and trackable, which helps teams stay aligned and reduces operational confusion. The features bring control and clarity to day-to-day logistics work, making dispatching more structured and loads easier to assign and track. The real-time visibility of load status means operations teams don't have to chase updates through calls, emails, or multiple systems. Overall, it saves time, reduces delays, and keeps operations running smoother. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The UI feels a bit dated - it works, but it's not the most modern or intuitive for new users. Some workflows feel rigid - it would be great to have more flexibility based on different teams or shipment types. Overall, its a solid tool, but better usability and stronger integrations would make it even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
