Preventing direct to origin attack, in case your origin IP/hostname is revealed. It's easy to use and IPs do not change very frequently. **What do you dislike about Akamai Site Shield?** The product works in tandem with your firewall or any device where you can add ACLs, allowing only site-shield IPs. If you haven't put the ACLs, it's useless to have them. Updating IPs in your firewall/ACL device is manual and there are no automated integrations. If you fail to update the changed IPs, the old ones are removed from the site-shield map, reducing the map size of your traffic. **What problems is Akamai Site Shield solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the direct origin attack scenario. When security is pushed from perimeter to cloud, org becomes lenient on perimeter security. Attackers can bypass the cloud hitting the origin/perimeter directly to gain access.
