Overall this is just a terrible piece of software to put it bluntly. **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2022 **What do you like best about AGi32?** There's absolutely no upside to AGI compared to other lighting software. **What do you dislike about AGi32?** Lighting Analysts have dubbed themselves as the unofficial "industry standard" and I have no idea why. I can only imagine that the people who sing its praises have never actually experienced any other lighting software. DiaLux, for example, dwarfs AGI32 hands down. Even Visual Lighting software has more skill in its pinky finger than AGI32 will ever have. AGI's user interface is like something from the early 90s and is probably about as outdated as their development team. God forbid you're working on a big project and need to Re-calc for a change. It'll feel like you're waiting on your dial-up internet to finally load. There's no polite way to say how I feel about this program. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Nothing ### 2. AGi32 is also easy to use and the results are clear to read. Overall, it is the best. **What do you dislike about AGi32?** Sometimes 3D modeling can be cahllenging and time-comsuming. I prefer to build a model in CAD then import. But why not just do it in AGi32? That would be so much more comvinient. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** I mainly use AGi32 to calculate for architectural lighting design result with the recommened value on lighitng handbooks. And count the amount of fixtures. In school, daylighitng too. ### 3. I have luckily been using the program for about 18 years and enjoy using it now more than ever. The results produced from the program are accurate and look great! I also really like how some older features came back - like the ability to swap out lumianire ies files in the lum def window. that's an awesome feature I really missed! Finally, the Customer Support team is AMAZING!!!! By far the best software support crew I have ever worked with! **What do you dislike about AGi32?** The only thing about the latest version of AGI is the crashing that occurs when working in the luminaire definition window. crashes seem to occur if you jump around in the table too much without pressing "TAB" to move around, and when you working in a project with many groups. We use groups for continuous linear lengths, and for some reason this new version of AGI doesn't always like the use of so many groups. its unfortunate because for us, it makes it so much easier. **Recommendations to others considering AGi32:** AGI32 is by far what you should be using if you are completing lighting designs and layouts. Hands down. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use AGI for all lighting design. We do all of our drafting within AGI instead of using both AGI and Autocad, which helps our workflow tremendously. I also love the page layout tools. I know some designers do all of that in AutoCAD, but I love the ability to do it right within AGI32. ### 4. We can see the mounting heights and direction or placement of lights as in Revit. It's very user-friendly to set up the model. It has a lot of options for calculations and gives more opportunities to be more realistic. The project manager also helps us clean up the cad background the IES file editing is excellent. It has so many options so that we can select the required type. **What do you dislike about AGi32?** Nothing to say much but the keyboard shortcuts are not included. The calculations placement tool is not handy. Make shortcuts and clear the background for setting up the model. the printer have to revise. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** The photometric calculations are excellent. We enjoy how easy it is to add in a DWG to the design. In addition, the page builder allows us to build the custom reports needed for our client to present before end users. **What do you dislike about AGi32?** The 32 bit program limits the rendering abilities especially for multi-story application. Typically we need to utilize DiaLux for these more complex applications. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use AGI32 to help all levels of the supply chain provide accurate photometric studies that are integral to the sales process. ### 7. I have not run into a model task that was beyond the capabilities of AGi32 **What do you dislike about AGi32?** The hot key interface is not as intuitive as I would like. **Recommendations to others considering AGi32:** Take the classes. There is a gold mine of information there. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** I can look at light trespass and reflected light from adjacent surfaces and calculate the light for levels on horizontal and vertical surfaces. I can create renderings to enable clients to visualize light within their projects. ### 10. When other lighting design tools come close, they miss out on the overall professional output available from the software. **What do you dislike about AGi32?** The level of depth that AGi32 goes into lighting design needs more commitment from designers to master nearly all the avenues available in the design software. However, improvements could be made on tutorial interactability. **Recommendations to others considering AGi32:** All lighting designs in a building can be seen with great clarity in this product which hosts an assortment of renderings and viewable content to your design. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** AGi32 features many parameters that can be tabulated against standard or regulatory requirements in building design. These parameters include illuminance, luminance, glare, etc., that verify the lighting design as code compliant. ### 11. Dialux evo is it's only competitor and it's like on same gatagory **What do you dislike about AGi32?** I have found Dialux evo more impressive . Everything works perfectly but it has limited options. Adding features like emergency lighting will make it more better. **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Lighting design using said software is an awesome experience and it has helped me a lot in sense of earning and add value to my resume as well as my performance ### 13. Needs a way to handle levels/layers better. **Recommendations to others considering AGi32:** Be sure to check your LLF! **What problems is AGi32 solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've used it to light roadways, toll plazas, parking lots, etc. Other than the ability to calculate luminance correctly, I've not found any new benefits. ### 14.
