  ### 2. Vault makes version control easy and fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhay C. | Freelance DM Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Vault?**

Version control and bug tracking are two features that I appreciate about the software. I can see what the latest changes are and compare them to older versions of my code in real-time.

**What do you dislike about Vault?**

The bulk import functionality is not as robust as it could be. I also dislike file search capabilities.

**What problems is Vault solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The graphical interface makes checkouts and commits easier than ever. It was easy transitioning from an older legacy app, and we were able to keep our histories intact.

  ### 3. Small powerful tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Vault?**

- easy to add new tokens/extend existing ones
- quick to set in AWS
- useful CLI
- integration in Node project

**What do you dislike about Vault?**

- I had an issue with managing some of the users when they left and some tokens needed to be restored

**What problems is Vault solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- no storing of tokens in app/ CI/CD so one source of truth
- accessible via different means like cmd, node project etc.

  ### 4. Vault Centralized Versioning

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glenn E. | It Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Vault?**

Well coded solid platform with very few conflicts when merging. Integrates well with Visual Studio showing who has which files checked out. Outstanding diffmerge program. It is free standing and I use it currently

**What do you dislike about Vault?**

It Needs full blown SQL server is the big drawback in my eyes. It needs to publicly available. If a user is offline and has file checked out that can be an issue if another team member needs upload. Branching and forking is not very robust with vault.

**Recommendations to others considering Vault:**

As I stated earlier vault works very well in certain development environments. Inhouse is very good. With today open-source and telecommuting, decentralized versioning such as git is better suited.

**What problems is Vault solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For many teams and certain development styles the centralized versioning works the best and allows companies to keep a handle on development.

**What do you like best about Vault?**

SourceGear Vault works well with our old legacy source control that used to be in Visual SourceSafe. Yeah, I know, that's how old some of our code is.

**What do you dislike about Vault?**

There's not much to dislike about Vault. It does what I need and more.

Branching is not easy in vault. also delete option doesn’t remove all instances of the file from the system and therefore adding file with same name throws exception.

**What problems is Vault solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for version control. It is our code repository. It helps us save all the code versions. Helpful in viewing which developers have checked out which projects.
