I've been a member for almost 10 years and about 15 apps have become permanent fixtures on my MacBook Pro — things like CleanMyMac, Paste, AlDente, Spark, and ClearVPN. The curated quality is consistently high and I love that I can just install something new without overthinking the cost. **What do you dislike about Setapp?** The price has gone up quite a bit over the years. As a student I get a discount, but at full price it's getting harder to justify unless you really use a good number of apps. If you only rely on one or two tools it probably won't pay off. **What problems is Setapp solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves the problem of app discovery and upfront cost. Before Setapp I'd stick with whatever free tools I had because buying a premium app felt like a risk. Now I just try things. Apps like AlDente keep my battery healthier long-term, Paste massively speeds up my daily workflow, and Amie handles meeting notes automatically. Installing was easy. **What do you dislike about Setapp?** Setapp is not solving any problems for me. I was not able to get the application to work. Customer Support - I received an error message that my laptop had previously used a trial, however when I reached out to see if they could fix it the response was a clear no - for a 7 day trial, I would have thought it would be easy to restart it. I'm hesitant to spend money with someone if that is the service they provide when they are trying to win your business. The support experience should be accommodating and welcoming, which it didn't feel like. I didn't feel valued as a person, which is also something that could be improved on. Installing was easy. I didn't get the error message I referred to until I downloaded one of the apps, which is really, really annoying. **What problems is Setapp solving and how is that benefiting you?** Setapp is not solving any problems for me. I like that I can try things out and only use what's most useful to me right now, so I don't have hundreds of useless programs lurking around. It's easy to download and I can keep it on my navigation bar to go directly to the site or load what I've already chosen. While it was not an issue when I first signed up, at this point in time, I'm glad that it is a Ukraine-based company and I can feel that I am supporting Ukraine. **What do you dislike about Setapp?** The main drawback is that I sometimes forget to check what's new and I might miss something that could be truly helpful, or spend time noodling around what's potentially interesting, but doesn't really solve a problem.That latter issue is my own, though and not Setapp's. **What problems is Setapp solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some of the software helps me declutter and keep my computer clear of junk. Others that I use, are a VPN, a video editor, enhance my presentations. ### 7. Save time. **What do you dislike about Setapp?** We purchased the team version, however, due to the team churn, our seat has decreased 33%. However, Setapp cannot provide a refund or reserve future credits. And even if we have extra seats, we still need to purchase extra devices for the existing users. Also, we encountered 1 bug. We were unable to assign a seat to a member who had expired the invitation before. What's more bizarre is that we first canceled next year's subscription and contacted customer service to decrease our seats. We see our seat is decreased (no refund BTW), however, the subscription is toggled to renew again. I wanted to recommend this to other teams. However, the entire pricing drama is depressing. Literally, 45 platforms or so, the cost of one of them is more than the entire cost of Setapp itself. It's a privilege to talk of the subscription fee as a thing which takes away financial barriers. Often these are moments where you'd think "I bet there's an app for that" and wind up on the app store trying to make do with a free / freemium - you know, where you later discover the one thing you really wanted is behind the paywall, etc... But now that I have SetApp this is almost NEVER an issue because invariably I find far more often than not checking there first provides exactly what I needed. It's true there may only be one or two options for that thing, but they're always up to the task.
