# Thomson Reuters Ultra Tax I made a grave error in switching to Ultra Tax for the 2019 tax filing season. I made my first of four installments in September 2019. The software wasn't released until November 21, 2019. I needed training and subscribed to their training program which because of their multiple system crashes did not complete the training until February 7, 2020. Believing I was prepared I tried to begin using the software only to get stuck due to system crashes, and software quirks which I tried to resolve via telephone calls to their support desk. Each time I tried calling, I would be placed on hold for longer than I was able to wait. Several times I held for over an hour before having to give up. I could not confidently enter tax season knowing I would encounter so much difficulty so I made the decision to go back to CCH and paid their $13,000 fee. Things settled down for me real quickly once I got on stream with CCH. But meanwhile I was out the $9,000 I had paid to Thomson Reuters. I requested a refund and was told that I would have needed to request it within 30 days of the release which would have been December 21 - during which time I had zero use of Ultra Tax. So I have disputed the charges with Capital One - the credit card I used to pay them. Of course TR rejected my dispute and it appears Capital One will advocate for me, but they have asked me for corroboration from other professionals that had experienced the same issues or issues of their own. It appears TR controls the internet regarding independent reviews of their service because when I Google Ultra Tax reviews all that comes up are reviews they have created or written by someone they pay as a sponsor. Truly a David and Goliath scenario. Does anyone have any experience taking on TR or navigating the credit card dispute process.
