Working through the IT Infrastructure Consulting reviews on G2, the fade-after-go-live pattern your post is worried about is probably the single most useful thing to ask a firm about directly, since integration quality during implementation and support responsiveness afterward are delivered by different parts of an organization and don't always carry the same quality bar.

Reviewers crediting a smooth, specific migration, such as moving from one network architecture to another, are describing a concrete, verifiable outcome, which is more reassuring than a general claim of integration expertise. Platform-specific depth matters more than it might seem; a firm strong on one cloud ecosystem isn't automatically equally strong on another, so the fit question is really whether the firm's documented strength matches your specific existing stack rather than infrastructure consulting in general. The honest way to test whether support stays responsive past go-live is to ask for a reference from a client several months post-implementation, not one still in the excitement of a fresh rollout.
