We missed a client approval exactly this way, and the cause was that everything arrived by email, so the urgent item read the same as the routine ones. Splitting across surfaces the way the earlier comment describes with Hive is closer to the fix than muting things ever was.

The distinction that reduces misses is notifying on commitments rather than on events. Alerting on every comment, edit and status change produces a volume nobody reads, while a due date moving or an item being assigned to you is a much smaller set that materially changes what someone has to do. Most tools support that split and default to the noisier setting. Kanbanchi&#39;s real-time card updates are valuable at the board level, and worth pairing with a deliberately narrow personal notification setting. Worth auditing what each person is subscribed to a month after rollout, since defaults tend to survive unexamined.
