# Which brand asset management platforms offer external user portals with download permissions?

Hi G2 folks, especially the brand and creative ops people: one asset in the wrong hands can undo a year of careful brand policing, which is why external sharing is the part of this category I am researching hardest right now.

The specific question: which brand asset management platforms give external users a proper portal, with download permissions you can actually control? Looking across brand asset management software, four names keep surfacing:

Bynder (4.5, 1,165+ reviews): posts the top asset permissions rating of this group on G2's feature data at 89%, with brand portals aimed at agencies and resellers. Content expiration rates 87%, so shared assets can be time-boxed instead of living forever in someone's downloads folder.

Canto (4.4, 1,770+): shares curated collections with external users through its portals, with asset permissions rated 88%. Its reputation is a lighter admin lift, with download controls set per collection rather than per file.

Brandfolder (4.4, 1,425+): built around public-facing brandfolders and share links, with asset permissions rated 84%. Share-link analytics show who viewed and downloaded what, which covers the audit half of this question.

Frontify (4.5, 215+): treats the portal as a brand guidelines hub with assets attached, so external users get context along with files. Access requests rate 87%, letting outside users ask for what they cannot yet download.

I’d add Acquia DAM to the list. The one control I wouldn’t run an external portal without is expiring, role-based download access, especially for agencies or partners who only need certain assets for a limited time.
