&lt;p&gt;Framing it as complement rather than replace is the right way in, and I&#39;d push it one step further: the decision often comes down to reporting rather than capability. If two tools both touch the same device, you need one place that tells you a patch actually landed, otherwise you&#39;re reconciling two consoles that each hold part of the picture. Whichever console your team opens first in the morning is the one that has to carry the full compliance view.&lt;/p&gt;
