# Which automotive digital retailing software keeps customer communications, vehicle records, and deal status visible without losing context during handoffs?

Does that handoff stay clean once a deal involves a trade-in or a co-signer though, or does added complexity break the continuity?

Amita’s point about department boundaries sharpens my earlier ownership-transfer concern. I’d test one customer journey from online lead through showroom, finance, and then service, and count what has to be re-entered or re-explained at each handoff. That would show whether the shared record is genuinely operational or mainly visible as history.

### Comment 2

The handoff between online and in-store feels like the most fragile point because customers expect the dealership to remember everything they already entered. If financing choices, trade-in details, or conversation history have to be repeated, the “seamless” experience breaks immediately.

### Comment 3

My read is between departments more than between reps. A rep handing to another rep usually happens the same day with a conversation attached, while sales to finance or sales to service crosses a system boundary and often a time gap. Tekion's shared record following the customer through to service targets that specific seam.

This is where Tekion’s unified record really shows value, but Upstart Auto Retail’s online-to-showroom continuity is arguably more practical for real deals. I’ve seen most breakdowns happen during ownership transfer, not system design. In your experience, where does context actually get lost, between reps, departments, or channels?
