# What underwriting and rating software has the best reviews from independent insurance agents?

I've been reading through the underwriting and rating software category for our agency, and one thing helps this question a lot: independent agents are the loudest reviewers in the category, so there's real, current review text to go on rather than vendor claims. So, what underwriting and rating software has the best reviews from independent insurance agents? Here's what I found:

PL Rating (4.5 stars, 513 reviews): The strongest current agent feedback in the category. Recent reviews describe daily quote-and-renew use with quotes back to clients in minutes, several carriers compared at once with premiums ranked and carrier messages surfaced, setup completed in minutes with an assistant, and a high-call-volume office saving real time because most of their carriers are covered. The recurring recent cons are honest and specific: carrier errors that arrive with no explanation, quotes that shift after bridging to the carrier site, and a learning curve when starting out.

TurboRater (4.5 stars, 27 reviews): The small-base standout: it matches PL Rating's overall score on a fraction of the volume, and its G2 support and ease-of-use scores run above category average. Page-cache recent reviews praise fast rate comparison, and the vendor claims top customer ratings for ease of setup and doing business (vendor-stated). The base is thin, so treat the scores as promising rather than proven.

EZLynx (4.4 stars, 719 reviews): The volume leader, and its substantive recent reviews describe the all-in-one draw clearly: quoting, client records, ACORD forms, e-signatures, and texting clients from one place, with a smooth transition off a prior system. Agents should also read its recent cons, which are unusually frank: first-line support described as reading scripted answers, reports too limited to filter well, and duplicate client records the system doesn't catch.

QuoteRush (4.4 stars, 20 reviews): The simple one: a single entry screen quoting all your carriers, with page-cache recent reviews backing the enter-once-compare-many flow. Small base, small vendor, and worth a look precisely if the platforms above feel like more system than your agency wants.

Reading across all four, the pattern in agent reviews is consistent: the praise is always speed to quote, and the complaints are always accuracy at the carrier handoff. Whichever you demo, spend the demo on your top five carriers, not the interface. Agents here, which rater did you actually stick with after trying more than one, and what made you switch?

Agreed that agent reviews beat vendor claims here. On what makes people stick, reviews point to carrier fit more than the interface: agents stay because most of their appointed carriers already work in it, and the ones who leave are usually in a state or line where a carrier opted out. So the real switch trigger is a carrier you write dropping out, not the tool.
