# What platform provides scenario modeling for sales plans?

<p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">I’m looking for a <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/sales-planning">sales planning platform</a> that’s actually good for scenario modeling. That’s the main thing I’m trying to solve right now. Not just basic planning, but the ability to test different what-if situations without everything turning into a giant spreadsheet mess. Things like headcount changes, slower ramp times, territory shifts, or mid-year quota adjustments.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">A few platforms I’ve been looking at:</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/anaplan/reviews"><strong>Anaplan</strong></a>: seems like one of the bigger names for modeling, but maybe a lot to maintain</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/pigment-2024-01-19/reviews"><strong>Pigment</strong></a>: looks more modern and flexible, curious how well it handles planning changes</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/varicent-varicent/reviews"><strong>Varicent</strong></a>: sounds strong for more structured sales orgs, but not sure how easy it is to use</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/xactly/reviews"><strong>Xactly</strong></a>: seems interesting if quota planning and comp are connected</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"><a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/clari/reviews"><strong>Clari</strong></a>: I know it’s strong around forecasting, just not sure how deep it goes on scenario planning</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">What I’m trying to figure out is whether these tools make scenario planning easier, or if most teams still end up doing the real modeling work in spreadsheets and only use the platform for the final output.</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true">For anyone using one of these, how easy is it to model things like rep attrition, delayed hiring, or quota rebalancing without having to rebuild everything each time?</p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"></p><p class="elv-tracking-normal elv-text-default elv-font-figtree elv-text-base elv-leading-base elv-font-normal" elv="true"></p>

Scenario modeling is where a lot of sales planning tools either get really useful or really bloated. I’d want the one that makes tradeoffs easier to think through.
