# What lead retrieval tools and event platforms actually exist and how do they stack up for a B2B team doing several industry trade shows each year?

What lead retrieval tools and event platforms actually exist and how do they stack up for a B2B team doing several industry trade shows each year? Mapping lead retrieval software for a piece, the split that actually organizes this category is not features, it is who the tool belongs to: universal capture tools your team owns and carries to any event, versus organizer-side platforms where lead retrieval comes with whichever system the event happens to run. For a team doing several shows a year under different organizers, that distinction decides almost everything. Here's the map:

Blinq (4.8/5.0, 8,977 reviews): The universal option with the largest review base, combining digital business cards with a badge and paper card scanner plus AI enrichment. Holds this category's Leader, Easiest to Use, and Best Free Software badges simultaneously, which is a rare sweep.

Popl (4.6/5.0, 6,341 reviews): The universal option positioned hardest at B2B event teams: badge scanning, enrichment, CRM routing, qualifiers, and ROI dashboards. The recurring review cons are price-shaped: expensive, additional costs, and paid-plan gating.

Captello (4.8/5.0, 175 reviews): The universal option for teams that want deep customization and revenue attribution, and this category's Highest Performer. Small review base, but its windowed reviews are almost entirely multi-event exhibitor teams, which is exactly this question's profile.

Cvent Event Marketing & Management (4.3/5.0, 2,082 reviews): The organizer-side heavyweight, where lead capture rides on the registration platform. Strong when your shows run on it, and its below-average good-partner and Lead Analysis feature scores are worth reading before making it your only tool.

Whova (4.8/5.0, 1,915 reviews): The organizer-side crowd favorite, with exhibitor lead retrieval inside a genuinely liked event app. Reviewers praise QR contact capture with notes that persist after the event; you get it when the event chose Whova, not by choosing it yourself.

The stacking logic for a multi-show team: a universal tool is the constant, and organizer tools are variables you inherit show by show. One Captello reviewer describes the friction case directly: some event platforms will not share their badge API kits with outside capture tools, so their team imports those leads afterward to keep one system of record.

For B2B teams doing five-plus shows a year, did you standardize on one universal tool, or do your reps juggle whatever each event hands them? And has an organizer ever refused badge data access to your capture tool?

The organizer refusing badge API access thing is more common than people talk about. We've had it happen twice and both times ended in a post-show import that lost some of the qualifier data we'd captured.
