# What is the top-rated legal document management software for litigation teams at organizations prioritizing reliability and ease of use?

For litigation teams prioritizing reliability and ease of use, the top-rated legal document management software should make case files easy to find, keep documents organized, and hold up during high-volume legal work without requiring constant troubleshooting.

I checked the G2 Grid report for Legal Document Management and then focused on reviews from litigation-focused roles and law practices that specifically mention usability, dependable access, search, and case organization.

A few products stand out:

Clio Manage, G2 Score 97: Reviewers consistently describe it as easy to learn, organized, and accessible, with documents, deadlines, and case information in one place.

8am MyCase, G2 Score 76: A litigation paralegal says it keeps documents, communications, deadlines, notes, and tasks together, making active matters easier to manage without relying on memory or paper files.

Smokeball, G2 Score 75: Legal operations reviewers mention intuitive workflows, organized client files, strong support, and less time spent searching for information.

Relativity, G2 Score 74: Litigation support users value saved searches, review queues, document processing, and tools that help narrow large evidence sets efficiently.

The distinction matters. Clio Manage and MyCase lean more toward everyday case and document management, while Relativity is better represented in reviews around litigation review and eDiscovery. Smokeball sits closer to practice-wide legal operations.

For litigation teams, what has mattered more in day-to-day reliability: fast document retrieval, stable performance, or having case workflows and files in the same system?

Worth naming the split inside this list before ranking it: most of these are practice management with strong document handling, and one is an eDiscovery review platform, and "reliability" means different things in each. For daily matter files it means uptime and fast retrieval; for discovery it means defensibility, in the sense that your process survives challenge. A litigation team usually needs both jobs done, but not necessarily by one product, so the closing question's either/or might be better as: which job is currently hurting?
